Taking bets on how much we'll (Australia) lose to the Netherlands by today, I'm thinking at least 6-0.
Fun fact, Australia has never actually lost to the Netherlands in a football match.
Well, they just did.

Now that Australia lost against Chile and the Netherlands, does that mean it's officially out of the cup, or do they have a chance of going into the next round by defeating Spain next Monday?
If Spain beats Chile, The Netherlands beats Chile and Australia beats Spain, I think it's still possible. :)
I think you have 2 out of 3 there. Netherlands will whoop Chile's ass like that, and Australia has played a couple of very good games (even if it lost both) compared to Spain's shitty performance. What I don't see happening is Spain beating Chile, which is currently scoring 1-0 against Spain and I don't see the Spanish turning the tables any time soon.

I'm actually pretty pleased with Australia's effort. They still need to stop giving easy goals away, but they've played a lot better at this tournament since they cleared out some of the deadwood.

Getting really exciting though with all the upsets.

So Spain lost 0-2 to Chile, meaning that Spain is out of the competition. Hurray for Chile on their first World Cup victory over the Spaniards. *thumbs up*

I stopped watching the Cameroon vs Croatia game multiple times because it was so boring. Each time I did there was a goal and when I turned it back on again it went all boring again.

Lost my Ivory Coast - Japan winnings and then some over the past few days. That was going to be my Steam/GOG sale fund too. :(

The Cameroon/Croatia game was so bad. I caught the last bit of the first half and most of the second half (was in a pub with some friends) and it was just....bad. I was a little sad afterwards, just about all the games I've watched have been good matches, but that game.

Ugh

I watched the England - Italy game at Download Festival on Saturday with a couple of thousand metal heads. When it looked as if Sterling had scored the opener the whole place exploded. I thought we played well, defensively flawed but it wasn't the utter disaster that the last World Cup was.

Looking forward to watching the next (and possibly final) match with my friends tonight with a few drinks. I reckon the defensive mistakes will be fixed, we will contain Suarez and seeing as Rooney has bitched and moaned his way back into the position he wants, he will either thrive or be as useless as he always is wearing an England shirt and will be dropped for the next game(if there is one) we might win this one, 2-0 I think.

I live in one of the host cities and trying to get tickets at this point is a nightmare. You need lots of patience and luck. Sure, I was stupid enough to wait all this time to buy them, but I really wasn't interested at all until 3 days into the tournament, after so many great games. I was planning on watching on the TV instead. I almost got some Germany x USA tickets, but my internet went down before I fill in all the info. So far I only managed to get tickets to the Croatia x Mexico match, which should be pretty good (in theory), considering both teams gave Brazil a very hard time.

It's been pretty good so far, if you discount Iran x Nigeria. That game was terrible. Also, it's great to see Spain out early.

Edit: Well, Italy x Costa Rica and Croatia x Mexico now.

One World Champion down, six to go.
As much happy as I am to see Spain go, I must ask, WTF happened to them? I seriously though they would have an easier time with Chile. One of the fastest playstiles to become outdated that I have seen.

Death match of today will be England vs Uruguay, that will be fun to watch.

Well, looks like the England vs Uruguay match is about to start in fifteen minutes, wish us luck guys! If we lose this, it'll probably be the end of the road for us :-/

After the England game, what are the chances that the red top newspapers (Mail, Mirror, Sun) will paint Suarez as the villain and some kind of scapegoat... again.

Uruguay played great and no one should take that away from them. Sad it's not how the British newspapers work really. They need someone to blame and Rooney may be on the top of that list.

Chile and Colombia are so good to watch. Think France and Germany will go far. Argentina should too; their run isn't that tough. I'm still expecting Brazil to get their act together and go for it. Spain were never gonna win it but I didn't expect them to crash out so soon. Belgium lack the team unity to go far and I'm unconvinced by the Netherlands.

England are a joke

If they pin it on anyone I bet it'll be the referee, I swear he was looking the other way half the time the Uraguayans fouled us but as soon as our team stepped anywhere out of line he was blowing the whistle like no tomorrow.

Gerrard, Jagielka, Henderson, Hart, Baines, Sterling, Welbeck and Sturridge were pretty naff, Gerrard and Jagielka especially so.

Glad Rooney proved his doubters wrong, thought he was probably one of the best players on the pitch behind Suarez.

Referee deserves a mention too and not in a good way, Godín was lucky to be on the pitch and should definitely have been sent off. Felt the ref was turning a blind eye to a lot of fouls aimed our way too but at the end of the day we're just shit, so no excuses, and yeah, the result doesn't at all surprise me.

Watched the England - Uruguay match at double speed (so I could watch the Japan - Greece game), and I thought England were unlucky to lose. However, they tried to be too intricate when building up attacks (which made them slow) and Uruguay easily defended for the most part. And you just can't defend the way England did against Suarez.

Still, you're not mathematically out yet, England =P

Hart "mind the hair" looked terrified every-time the ball went near him
Rooney "mind the hair" looked as though he spotted a pie in the back of the goal, and for once it paid off and he actually scored (no pie though, so he's gutted)
And the Uraguayan with the concussion (Pereira) is still wandering round the pitch insisting he's able to play.

All in all, exactly what we thought would happen before the match!

Argentinian here and... I thought so too! I swear at one time one of the Uruguayan players literally grabbed an english (I don't remember, might have been Sterling or Gerard... honestly don't know) by the arm and like pulled or something... Sometimes the camera doesn't repeat stuff that should be repeated but... yeah, did the referee do anything then? No! And it was clear they should have been expelled from the game... Actually I feel kind of disappointed by the refereeing from this world cup in general.

Indeed! I think I speak for everyone when I say Colombia really surprised us this year! Maybe they do have a chance after all...
