I didnt expect minecraft to go far and Im really glad it did. Im hoping it wins because well odd function was exactly right, Notch has put out this one game and its more solid then any games these companies have produced and its only in the beta phase.

I agree with Valve being great I havent not liked any of their games but minecraft reaches out to such a huge audience that they have a huge community of supporters of various ages and loyal too.

Notch is a clever man and I hope Mojang wins this.

It's tough. My two favorite games of the last year were Mass Effect 2 and Minecraft. It's like having to choose between parents

Think I'm gonna have to go with Mojang on this one. As good as Bioware's games are, it's hard to argue they do much innovation. Plus Minecraft is a pretty accessible game to more casual players.

Saddest part is that this is the exact opposite of how my bracket was planned. I had the top four right, but I pegged Valve and Blizzard for the final round.

I can see that just like last year, people get too worked up about this contest. I mean, it's just for fun.
Leaving the Escapist if a wrong dev wins? That's just odd.

Anyways, while reading the story of Minecraft digging itself trough the rounds, it did seem a bit epic-y. I mean, a developer that wouldn't had been in the original contest, but got chosen to participate by the people of the Escapist (well, the Pub Club). And then at the first round, it just bumped into one of the possible endbosses. I mean, talk about against all odds. And now it's in the finals.

Seems to me the game's made quite an impression to a load of people. Nicely played, Mojang.

Still, i think I'll be voting for BioWare. MC is fun and interesting, but I'm pretty sure ME1 is my all-time #1 game. Remembering the time i played brings back awesome memories...love that game.
I also enjoyed DA:O. I haven't played DA2 though, and there seem to be loads of different reviews out there, from "pure gold" to "pure crap". So that might hurt BioWare's votes a bit. But who am i to say, as i previously stated: haven't played it.

Whoever wins, I'll be happy. Cause you know.
It isn't Zynga. Haha...? Ah, never mind...

Anyways, i hope the final round will be balanced, just for some good old-fashioned tension and fun.

One thing I dislike about this contest is that it can't make up it's mind on what it's supposed to be doing. Are you supposed to vote for your favorite? Or what you think are other peoples favorites? As far as I can tell, the contest on winning the laptops consists of being able to determine what other people will vote... Which defeats the purpose of voting for your favorite.

No it doesn't. The brackets are just for fun. Participants got 25 entries just for filling one out but how you do doesn't matter.

If I had any less self control I would, put simply, label march mayhem as utter bullsh*t.
I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but Mojang beating Valve? So Minecraft is better than everything Valve has put together? Bioware beating Blizzard I predicted (Baldur's Gate!) But I think people sometimes forget that Blizzard released some truly great RTS games before WoW.

Anyway, I was definitely not expecting this match up.

Bioware is a shitty developer, okay? Yeah, they made some games I liked in the past, but they never should have beat Bethesda, and they sure as hell shouldn't have gotten past Blizzard, the best developer in the industry.

And Mojang beating Valve? Minecraft is great and all guys, but it's muggle-freaking Valve! You know, those guys that created Portal, made Zombie Games awesome again, and then rebuilt the competitive shooter? And they lose out to a company that HASN'T EVEN RELEASED A FULL VERSION OF IT'S THRICE-CURSED GAME YET?

Well that "shit" I still better that pretty much all the games on the market now. PLus you vote for the company not for DA2. Plus Blizzard just milks the same Wow cow. Just look at Starcraft 2,not only it will cost roughly 180$ for the whole campaign(TZP)eventually but you're actually stuck playing on your own region. If you wanna play on the Korean or US(I'm from Europe)ladder guess what you actually have to buy another copy of the game. Not something you can get away easilly.

Seen the last years winner it's very likelly that Mojang will win since Minecraft it's a very addictive game,still as a company Bioware deserves it more for what they did in the last 15+ years.

Throughout this March Mayhem, I wanted to vote for the best developer of the last year (but some times old favorites got the better of me), and I think that it really should go to Mojang here although with only one game it may be a big stretch to say that Mojang are better than Bioware over all.


EDIT: I know that Bioware are the better developer over all (Cough* Baldur's Gate games *), but having bought Mass Effect 2 for the PS3 yesterday, I think that they might also be the best developer of this year as well, but I can't take my vote back so Mojang you lucky bastard(s), you got my vote and it looks like your gonna top the polls this year.

I love Mojang, and this year they probably do have the best game out there right now. However Bioware made KOTOR and NWN to name just my two favorites, Valve made Portal, and Nintendo made Mario and all of those developers have a huge back catalogue of classic games.

Mojang is still young, like so young they haven't completed a game yet.
