Picking up all the rings was probably the first truly powerful loot mechanic to get our young minds addictedScobie said:I'm honestly not sure. I remember plenty of the first games I played in my early childhood, but remembering which one was the first is trickier. Sonic 2 always sticks out in my mind when I think of the games I played in my younger days, so it could very well have been that. And if Sonic 2 really was the first game I was exposed to, it's no wonder I got into gaming.
Best first gaming story. Everishist said:I have probably one of the geekiest first game ever. Pong on the TRS-80. But not the cartridge version because we couldn't afford a cartridge, so I had to program pong line by line out of a guide book. We also didn't have any unused 5.25 disks so I couldn't save it, I had to reprogram it every time I wanted to play. I was 7 or 8 years old.
LOL yeah standing in front of an arcade machine and thinking you were owning, when really it was the demo run.MrDeckard said:Well, my first gaming [i/]experience[/i] was with the arcade machines at the restaurant that my parents went to often. Little did I know that to actually control the games you have to put quarters in.....
First game I [i/]played[/i] was Combat Mission for the PC. STILL a very fun turn based WWII strategy game.
Ahh consoles with wood panelling around the cartridge slot - you have truly missed outLord Kloo said:Doom (the 1st one) on a Windows 98. God that game was scary when you were 5... and so difficult..
I'm not old enough to have experienced the old Atari consoles..
