The first computer game you ever played?

Ahh another C64 owner :) Yeah I remember that, wasnt it like an adventure game and you had to type stuff in? No graphics, just words?
Yep. Made by Infocom. I was a huge Infocom fan back in the day. I played almost all of their games, and beat most of them. They don't have the same effect in this day and age, though (if you get stuck, you look up the answer on the internet, which ultimately makes them much less satisfying games).

No lie, it took me three years to figure out how to get that jeweled egg open. The memory of that victory (when it finally happened) remains one of the most vivid in all my game playing history.

Good lord, I'm feeling so old hearing people talk about their first gaming experiences on Windows 3.1.1 and the PSX.

I don't remember exactly, but my first computer gaming experiences were on a Commodore 64, a Commodore Amiga, an IBM-compatible 80286 running DOS, and my friend's NES. Somewhere between 1985, when I was 3, and 1988.

I don't think I played anything at school until second grade or so.

I know, I know, answering my own question is lame, but I'm happy, so shut up.

Oh my...I was incredibly young, Either M.U.L.E. or Lazarian for the Commodore 64. I also have brief but fond memories of playing Frogger on the Atari 2600.

The first games I really remember playing for long periods of time were for MS-DOS; The King's Quest series, Quest for Glory series, Secret of Monkey Island, Overlord, Wasteland, Ultima II, Fountain of Dreams, Tie Fighter and the like, back when games were on 4-8 floppy disks. Then of course later when CD-ROM games were released I played Return to Zork, X-Com, Ascendancy and Warcraft to name a few.

Yeah I guess its experiecnes Im after - just that burst of nostalgia of people's very first memories of gaming! I know I remember feeling so excited about all this stuff, and those memories are good :)

Sounds like yours and my experiecnes are pretty similar. My dad was Commodore brand-loyal so we had a few of those, then he got into PC's and we havent looked back :)

I remember paying out megabucks to plug in more memory in this little slot under the amiga, to take me up to a whole ONE MEGABYTE lol

'Loading level 3 - Please insert disk 4" .. graunch ...graunch ... click click click ... yay!

Monkey Island was a HUGE title back then. I only ever got about 1/4 of the way thorugh it though :( No stamina .... and I got fed up with "use feather on monkey ... use feather on door ... use feather on foot" etc etc and nothing happening ...

Chips Challenge, on Windows 3.1. Probably about 94, 95, 96. I still have the PC, with its entire 16384 Kb of memory, it still works. None of this RROD-in-six-months malarkey.
