So... we have the awkward nerd, the crazy blonde chick, the fat one... and the sassy black woman.. who for bonus inclusivity is also fat.

Why am i not surprised that hollywoods idea of an all female ghostbuster team is merely a checklist of unfunny stereotypes?

Really disapointed especially after watching deadpool that this is the humor we can expect.

The humor is just plain old silly and goofy and... stupid.. theres no thought or intelligence behind the jokes... whileas the original humor was the characters reacting and commenting to the absurd situations they found themselves in. No one made jokes about having slime stuck to their dick, they didnt slap each other around, the humor and chemistry kinda came naturally and more importantly it was believable in its own strange kinda way and never gross or icky. And it had a slower pace wich i think is another important part.

This? This is disaster movie quality humor.

I'm sure they're already writing up an article on how sexist people are, it's a great smoke screen.
Likely, but that's a dangerous game to play. They run the risk of the bad buzz becoming the story. Besides, the diversity debate has to run out of steam sooner or later, and drafting it in to defend a summer popcorn flick could easily backfire.
Allready happened, the usual suspects are allready blaming mysoginists and sexists and "the dark corners of the internet" for the mostly negative feedback the trailer got.

......yeeeeeeup. Mediocre, at best, and definitely not as comedic as either of the previous Ghostbuster films. Passing on this.

And what's with the circus theme all the ghosts seem to have?
It might have something to do with the plot.
It just seems random, all we know is someone's making something to make paranormal activity stronger and the circus shows up? Just something that struck me as odd.

It's obvious. ICP finally figured out how magnets work.

I actually found it okay-ish. A lot of the jokes really fell flat though as I don't think the cast has the chemistry of the originals, a big part of that was Melissa McCarthy who just seemed to suck the life out of every scene she was in.

The nostalgia factor was high though, they really hit the mark of some scenes that were similar to those in the original.

Is anyone else shocked by just how much really really bad exposition is going on in that trailer? I mean really bad? Forget anything to do with the sex of the protagonists, they are telling not showing. And at least in the trailer I am not seeing anything that resembles chemistry between the actors. It looks and sounds like a junior high drama club decided to put on a Ghostbusters play. And let the 7th graders write it. Is it so hard? Don't tell me how smart these characters are (and how many times did they do that in the trailer?) Show it!!!

And wow nostalgia, lets restage the same scenes from the 80's, but with much worse actors and dialogue. That'll bring them in? I mean why exactly did anybody think simply "remake the original movie but with women" was a good idea? You will never find anybody better at playing those 4 characters than the 4 actors that created them. Why try? Better to do a sidestep. Have the ladies purchase a Ghostbusters franchise from the old timers. Set them someplace new with interesting history. Say Boston of Philadelphia. Give them all new characters written for and to their strengths, rather than having them try and parrot the originals. That would have been new, fun and interesting. It would have bridged the old with the new. It would have expanded the cast and the fanbase. But damn this just looks like a badly made recycled cash grab that even the current cast didn't want to be in. Sadly it will still make a gazillion dollars because "nostalgia".

We're supposed to judge whether we want to go see a movie based on the trailer, so how can we not judge?
Dunno. Ask all the people who insist I have no business saying Batman 5 Superman: Dawn of Franchise Merchandising looks shitty based on the information they give us in the trailers.

I'll watch this movie, though. The trailer got some laughs out of me, and if this movie isn't the original, well, no shit, the original is on my DVD shelf and I can pop it in whenever. I want to see neat special effects and watch funny jokes, and I expect to get enough of both for my tastes.

I hope that will be some consolation to Sony when this movie bombs and takes their long term strategy for a Ghostbuster movieverse with it.

Painting all critics of a work as racist/sexist/whateverist only works when said critics actually are some or all of those things or when the work itself is good. Ideally both of these things. Fury Road wasn't harmed by criticism of its 'feminist agenda' because that criticism came from contemptible troglodytes like Return of Kings, and because Fury Road was fucking awesome.

Conversely, there's no argument to be made that the Fantastic Four reboot bombed because of racism stirred up by the casting of Michael B Jordan. Fant4stic bombed because it was a bad movie. That's the direction I see this one going, and the only people arguing otherwise once the dust settles will be Sony execs trying to salvage their careers in the wake of what looks like being one of the biggest box office bombs of 2016.

Eh, it's not as bad as i thought it would be, i was expecting a lot more forced misogynist antagonists and nutshots and such. As it stands, it kinda strikes me as a bit bland, but not as horrible as i thought it would be. The humor seems too soft and safe for my taste, although i will give credit for actually making jokes and having some sense of humor rather than just being pretty, even if the humor seems restrained, and i would have cast funnier actresses. Plus, the fact that it really does look like just ghostbusters again is a lot of points off it. Even if you enjoy the concept, you have to admit that genderswapping a movie and releasing it as a new movie is REALLY lazy. Even as sequel culture goes this is lazy and thoughtless. It's like fanfiction-level writing, but with a cheap appeal at the weird undesirables who think value and innovation is added to something because there's an implied vagina somewhere.

It looks like a fan film that went horribly awry.

Not even a tug at the corner of me mouth.

But, then again, I sat through 98% of Bridesmaids with four other people and only laughed once or twice at anything. Same for those other folks, actually, including my ex and one of her girlfriends. So. Ymmv.

The CGI isn't terrible, though it does look more like "Scooby Doo: Ghostly Monsters at Mardis Gras" than Ghostbusters. The jokes fall completely flat. Characters look like the usual stilted, shallow crap in every other try-hard comedy (I'd say Sandler had a part in this, but there's a distinct lack of urine) and...just ugh. It lacks, ironically enough, spirit.

And the dubstep.

I like dubstep and still think that was a flat out ridiculous decision. You don't nostalgia bait during your first five seconds then proceed to pull down your pants and piddle in the faces of your intended audience.

This literally made me laugh more than the trailer.

Imagining that they're all undead juggalos on their way to aimlessly mill around outside of the local 7-Eleven makes it at least 5% more bearable.

Also, this:

OK this was as bad as expected.

Also are they trying to trick people into thinking it's a sequel to the first two movies? They made it sound like this one takes place in the same universe with the whole thirty years ago bit at the beginning.

From that trailer, who else wants a Blaxploitation Ghostbusters with four sassy black women catching ghosts? I'm pretty sure it's a bad thing when a trailer sells me on something that it isn't trying to sell, as well as not existing.
"Ah hell naw I ain't fuckin' with no ghost!"
"That ghost's one jive-ass turkey!"
"I'm the fuckin' Keymaster! You dig, Gatekeeper?"

OT: Uh... I'm going to treat this as the inverse of the Fat4stic trailer in comparison to the movie... I may not like the trailer too much outside of Wiig getting slimed and McCarthy getting slapped, but I'm sure the movie will be better than this trailer... I think...

Other than that, the effects reminded me that the live-action Scooby-Doo movie was suppose to be a PG-13 "parody" of the concept...

Yup. This now totally needs to happen.

The whole trailer gave me that vibe. Considering I mildly enjoyed that movie... I don't know what to make of this.

So far, the trailer doesn't impress me. It doesn't -offend- me, but neither does it impress me much. I don't find any of the humor particularly cringe-worthy, and at least it seems like the actresses are trying their best. However, I find some of this confusing; is this still going to be a direct sequel, like we'd been lead to believe previously (I think...) or is this now a reboot? They reference the original Ghostbusters with the "30 years ago, four scientists saved New York" line...but there doesn't seem to be any reference to them otherwise. It also seems like these new Ghostbusters are reinventing the wheel. There's no references to them studying the original Ghostbuster's technology, or building from it; more like they're starting over from scratch. And then there's their vehicle. The license plate says "Ecto-1". If this is a direct sequel, shouldn't it be the "Ecto-2"?

Whether or not this will be a hit or a bomb to me is still up in the air. But I will say this: if they can't be clear on whether this is a sequel or a reboot, that doesn't bode well to me.

Eh, I'm not really that much of a fan of the originals; having seen them ages ago I can't really remember much from it at all. Even so, I didn't so much as smirk once through out the trailer, and found myself lightly cringing a couple of times.
I'll wait until it's released before deciding whether it's a travesty (and even then I'll be based on reviews, since I have absolutely no interest in seeing it anyway).

Well, I'm for one am excited. Nothing stands out as exceptionally great, but I think others can agree that an idea of doing something very different than the original in a remake/sequel is at least worthy of some praise. Especially in recent years with almost every remake consistently the same the plot/character set up with 1 or 2 modern updates, and then generally missing the themes and points that make the original enjoyable.

Not saying it's automatically great because they're using an all female lead cast, but considering that some of the most memorable remakes veer greatly from the original (The Fly and Scarface for example) it's a good start.

Being an eighties kid and a fan of the original, I definitely get the nostalgia. But I prefer good movies over nostalgia any day and since the re-make/sequel/re-boot some may think they want would prolly be about the old guys helping the younger ones hunt ghosts for a few minutes before all their wives and kids disappear and the whole movie is them looking for their families, I'm sure as shit going to remain optimistic.

meh... i dont know, i try to like it but meh...

why does it have to be a reboot ? to me it would better if they would have acknowledge the original movies, and i dont know having something with a team b or a west coast franchise or the orginal team have retire and the girl relaunch the project. anything but a reboot...
