I remember my very very first video game. Peter Rabbit's Number Garden, that I played when I was 1 years old.
Still have it on me as a keepsake.

I remember my first "good" game possibly being Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings, played the hell out of the random map games, but never played it online as I was ~8 years old at the time. Then my friend showed me Age Of Mythology, and I remember basking in awe at the fact that you could place your buildings anywhere and not just in 1x1 pre-determined squares.

Quake 3 Arena, Half Life 1, Deus Ex, Doom, Team Fortress Classic, Red Alert.

I recently found a PS2 port of Half Life 1, and it is still one of the best first person shooters I have ever played.

King's Quest 6. That's the only thing that comes into my mind when I think about playing on the computer as a child. I loved it to death.

First REAL video game I ever got outside of those typing tutor type games was Rayman 2. Grabbed it on impulse at the store one day...only to find out my clunky Windows 98 was incapable of running it when I got home. >.>

But when we finally upgraded to XP, I discovered I'd hit the jackpot. That game SPOILED me in terms of platformers, and without it, I don't think I would've become the awesome gaming ninja I am today.

I vaguely remember playing some game called Captain Comic, I think that's the earliest I remember, though I did try some text adventures I couldn't make sense of (being 7 or something and english not my first language)

Also have fond memories of Rick Dangerous, though I think that was on Amiga.

First PC game I ever played was Commander Keen or Lotus III. The most memorable game from back then will always be The Incredible Machine to me though.
Ah yes Lotus. I still love that car because of the game.

The first one I can remember was an educational game called "Gizmos and Gadgets".

Google says it was supposed to teach kids about the joys of engineering. It's funny, 'cause I'm more of a computer science guy nowadays...

The first game I ever played is You Don't Know Jack (the original). Bloody amazing for a quiz game, it has creepy atmosphere and it is fucking hilarious. Also, you could literally screw your opponents which forces them to answer the question. It's a great experience, even for people who don't have much knowledge.

Spectre was another really early one I remember, it was kinda like a sequel to Battle Tanks but Spectre has a more interesting concept. Strange atmosphere a long with original enemy's and unique powers. I really need to play this again.

Also, I have to mention Total Annihilation, I played many games before it but this game was and probably still is perfection in the RTS genre.

When I was about seven years old my parents bought their first computer, an IBM 486. They bought it from a local computer mechanic, who pre-installed a few games for us beforehand. One of those games was X-Wing. I was a Star Wars nut at the time, so playing that game was like a dream come true. About a year later it got even better when my parents got me Tie Fighter for Christmas. I played that game religiously for at least five years.

I played all sorts of great games on that machine. Knights of the Sky, Red Baron, A-10: Tank Killer, Myst, Swamp Gas, etc.

I started my gaming between Quake and Unreal. I don't remember which I actually did first but I'm more fond of Unreal.

the original Diablo for me. my dad bought it for me when it first came out, and I just loved it. It's safe to say that was the game that really got me into this whole "video game" thing to begin with.
