When I was about seven years old my parents bought their first computer, an IBM 486. They bought it from a local computer mechanic, who pre-installed a few games for us beforehand. One of those games was X-Wing. I was a Star Wars nut at the time, so playing that game was like a dream come true. About a year later it got even better when my parents got me Tie Fighter for Christmas. I played that game religiously for at least five years.

I played all sorts of great games on that machine. Knights of the Sky, Red Baron, A-10: Tank Killer, Myst, Swamp Gas, etc.

I started my gaming between Quake and Unreal. I don't remember which I actually did first but I'm more fond of Unreal.

the original Diablo for me. my dad bought it for me when it first came out, and I just loved it. It's safe to say that was the game that really got me into this whole "video game" thing to begin with.

Heroes of Might & Magic 3....GOD, I cannot even begin to fathom the number of hours I've invested into that game, building my mighty undead army.

Earliest that I remember well and loved would have to be Cannon Fodder and Archon. Later would come stuff like Dune 2, Syndicate and Populous. Unforunately my memory just isn't up to remembering most things I played on a Spectrum ZX, Amiga or 133Mhz Pentium over 15-20 years ago.

Commander Keen. On a floppy disk back when they were actually floppy. Oh yeah. Take that.
Geez, I feel old now.

Kings Quest! The whole series, but particularly 4. Also The Incredible Machine. I got TIM2 on CD and realized that the audio tracks would play in my discman. I rode the school bus for weeks listening to the music from TIM2 until it got stolen. Years later I would pay an obscene amount (relatively) to buy a copy of this cd on ebay.

It was Half-Life 1. When I bought it back then, I didn't know anything about it or even heard about it. It was just pure luck that I bought that great game. When I first played it, I was 8 or 9 years old and scared as hell but I couldn't stop playing it.

The first good PC game I played was Dark Messiah: Might and Magic.
I was completely in love with it at the time. I'm sure some will disagree with it being good, but it was good in my eyes.
I've been meaning to finish it, I really enjoyed DM: M&M too!

On topic: Green Thumb Cards and Carmageddon.

For me it was "the incredible machine". A kind of puzzle game where you could build hilarious contraptions and the like or solve puzzles. I put sooo many hours of my life into it, I really should try to find it or some other game like it again.

Enjoy.

My father had a copy of Caesar II that I had been addicted to for a month or so when I was around 4. That was my first PC title.
