Probably show my age here, but first one I started playing on was Civilization (still enjoy it) and the first good and proper playing (where I knew what I was doing well enough to win, used to faff about mostly in civ) was Wolfenstien 3D (very first one, good challenge back then it was)

Fortress of the Witch King on Commodore 64. The only graphics was a top down map. The rest of the game was text base: "34 dragons breath fire at you..." "Your clerics heal 12 of your men" etc.

Civilization: Call To Power - started my addiction to the Civ series
Deus Ex - found in a bargain bin in store, was looking out for the ps2 version cause I heard good things, but ended up getting the pc version. The next a few hours of trying to get getting the thing to run on my awful pc was totally worth it : )

I could name a title.. but then it was a polish rip-off from frogger, so let's settle for that.
From popular titles, it was Skyroads! Oh man, the fun of that... then we had X-Wing - I murdered tens of mice on that game! Nostalgia..

The Karateka

Really old PC game, grandfather to the WHOLE Side scrolling beat them ups and Fighting genre of games. Older than River City Ransom and Kung Fu

I think it was called Space Bucks? You basically started a trading company IN SPACE, and built up a fleet of trade ships, creating contracts with certain planets, and attempting to stifle rival companies via piracy and buyouts. I remember it being really cool looking.

...Mostly because before that, my PC experience was entirely 3D Dinosaur, 3D Body Adventure, and 3D Undersea Adventure.

Fuck. I feel old.
Don't worry. I'm 15 and I've played my fair share of the Exile trilogy.

Meglamania, i played this on the amiga 500+, it was a civilisation type game, where you could invent weapons like 'sticks' to start with and eventually build plasma weapons etc, or build peaceful technology (tee hee)
The good thing was you could align yourself with other tribes, declare war on them etc, true fun with a touch of advanced wars simplicity

Yea, i named a bunch of them. And i def remember Beach Head too after looking at the vid.
In that case, Top Gun. We hooked two Commie64s together and played against each other. It was my first ever multiplayer network game. :D

There were a few other games but that one stands out the most.
