One country will hopefully "unite" the world, so that the world can work together and finally get something done... also when the aliens attack we can have the EDF instead of homeland security.

no flying cars(too hard to police and govern), more of an introverted home body society even less likley to venture out side and socialise and express there own opinions in public, communicating via electronic means, living in fear and consumerism which will be mainlined by even more over the top mega media organisations into brain by said communication devices, think live feed of a quasi entertainment tonight/FOX news channel. Grossly under nourished and exercised majority of people living in high density blocks of hab bubbles purchasing more and more meds online for all of there imagined ailments both mentally and physically. Escapism will be paramount both via drugs and entertainment. Oh and we will have wafer thin roll up touch screens with long life batteries yay!!!
Overpopulation might be a problem but the zombies will take care of that.....also electric cars will make a comeback.
We'll all evolve into highly-intelligent sentient anthropomorphic passion fruits.......next week.
Don't know about the far future but in University we were discussing this topic and apparently when Steven Spielberg made Minority Report he got together scientists and tradesmen from the top of every field to give their best estimates as to what we'll have in 25-40 years and if you watch the movie that's what they came up with. (ex, jump jets, jetpack, the autopilot and vertical highways and cars and the personalized ads, holograms, just not the seeing the future thing)As for the far future we have a few paths to follow, 1. we overpopulate and fail to achieve colonization and starve to death. 2. We blow ourselves up/create a T-virus-ish plague. 3. We destroy our environment and Earth turns into a second Mars. 4. We do any of the first 3 but overcome each of them somehow and I would imagine we could evolve into either preferably some sort of United Federation like in Star Trek, or some facist government like Starship Troopers, Or paramilitary like Mass Effect and Halo. I don't want to get to specific on dates (like back to the future) because they did that in the 50's-80's and I don't see any Flying cars on the market yet, but since I believe NASA is working on an anti-matter drive atm I would imagine we could colonize Mars whenever we finish that plus how to keep the sun's Gamma (and other)radiation from killing the crew in a colonyship.

When we get that signal, when the commander puts the transmission onto the main screen. When HIS face, and those inhuman eyes stare down upon us.....we will already know.
