The games you absolutely adore and fear too few people have played.

Some old school style FPS games.

Hedon, which is amazing and awesome. Great gameplay with an interesting story, plus 2 different full sets of weapons depending on if you play normal or choose bearzerker difficulty and a spectacular sound track.

Supplice, this one plays a bit more like Doom since it has no jumping, but much much more detailed/larger levels, great weapon set also has a spectacular sound track.

Hellslinger, still only a demo, but the hard drawn art style is pretty cool and the combat feels really good. Its got two characters who each have their own weapons that feel pretty different, considering the similarity in weapon types.

A Doom style game where the main protagonist is a black woman? Sign me up!

This game was in development for 14 years?! Christ! I am glad the people involved got it off the ground and getting to their goals.

It's been made by some great doom map makers and with Supplice they are at the top of their game. I think Supplice is one of those things where they had been trying to do it for a long time, but only now did they have the skills to really make it how they wanted. Cause its damn impressive. I think Hedon is better, but not by much, and I hold Hedon in extremely high regard.

Ok, the first game I'm going to mention is Puppeteer for the PS3. Released in 2013 and my game of the year for that year, head and shoulders above the vastly overrated The Last of Us.

A cute, fun and funny platformer that sold about 3 copies...of which I bought all 3 for myself, family and friends, despite reviewing well. Taking the form of a pantomime about the evil Moon Bear King stealing the souls of children. Unfortunately he kidnaps the wrong child who is tasked with saving the day.

Just look at how this game moves, the soundtrack, the over the top voice acting. Its just so good and sadly only playable on modern consoles if you have PS+ Premium for some reason.

And next, de Blob and de Blob 2. Just two fantastic games and this video right here explains in better detail why these games are awesome. Despite reviewing well, they didn't sell because despite games at the time complaining about the deluge of brown/grey shooters, didn't want to play something colourful and different.

Thankfully both games got re-released for the PS4, Xbox 1 and Switch so are perfectly playable on modern consoles.

There were plenty of releases in 2013 better than that game. I fully agree with you.

If I remember correctly, I thought the first game sold decently enough. While the second game has better gameplay, didn't sell as well. I always had an interest in the games, but never got around to them.

Speaking of Wii games; I'm glad the No More Heroes franchise is available on modern consoles and PC. Travis Strikes Again is stuck on Switch though.

NInja Warriors Once Again (Ninja Saviors) really needs to be ported to PC and XBOX. It's only available on PS4/5 and Switch.

Cryostasis was a wonderful SlavicJank Survival Horror type game that I really enjoyed back in the day and unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be available digitally. Partially because you're stuck on a frozen Soviet icebreaker in the polar regions and the crew have become ice monsters because....fucking reasons okay. But notably you have the ability to see the past before the ship turned into a nightmare and so will go back in time to not only see how all of this happened firsthand, but also can change the past to prevent it from occurring. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it kinda doesn't but it is an interesting way to tell a story. Especially when it's revealed the reason for the disaster is not some evil plot ala resident evil but just people making (very) poor decisions in a moment of crisis. There's a very obvious reference to Chernobyl in the game as well(and the game was make by a Ukrainian dev to boot)

It also has the mechanic where since the ship is frozen, the cold and ice monsters cause you to freeze to death and you have to find heat sources to "heal". So that's kinda cool. It's fucking weird. Like think of the supernatural weirdness in Metro but cranked up a lot. I guess I could compare it to The Evil Within but different vibe and a much lower SFX budget(Don't get me wrong, the game is good but it was made 15 years ago and the graphics reflect that). Like in the back half of the game, you see some really wierd shit and I guess it's symbolic or something but pretty much never explained for the most part.

Civvie 11 did a video on it:

It was an absolute trip of a game, and sadly nobody's going to get to experience it for themselves anymore without a whole lot of work.

The boring one

I don't think it's so lost. I have it on my gog account (had bought it back then), which means it probably circulates on dishonest networks (which, functionally, preserves it).

I didn't realize it was ever on GOG. It must have been there and gotten delisted without me noticing. Which makes me annoyed at myself.

More people to need play Ultra Street Fighter II: Final Challengers! Capcom should have ported this to other modern consoles a long time ago!

My picks for this thread can only be entries in franchises that are dear to me, and therefore only apply to folks already somewhat invested in those franchises

Assassins Creed: Liberation
Originally released for the PS Vita around the same time as AC3, that takes place at the same time in a different part of the not-yet-U.S, with cross-over missions in both. It was then ported to PC and some consoles. IIRC, the initial ports were kind of crap but then they fixed it. So I totally understand folks not playing it.
But, for the AC fan, it is really great, for these reasons:

1- You play as a woman! Not as half the time because you have a brother, not as a "choose your own gender" nonsense, but as a totally for real and only lady assassin character. Normally I wouldn't make this a big deal but in a series that has like 20 entries made by a company with a documented opposition to this it is notable.
2- Social stealth. Honestly, the only AC game in the whole franchise that really has a dedicated mechanic for it. And it specifically benefits from #1 because you play dress up to have the environment around you react differently. God I really was assuming they would develop that in future installments, and when Black Flag starts with your pirate character putting on Assassins robes I really though that there would be different stuff happening depending on your outfit but... no, no. And then even worse is Unity kinda gave you a little something like that but it was broken bullshit and impractical (like the whole game) and then completely abandoned.
3- Since it's not a "main" game, it is the first one without Desmond and the whole line of animus B.S. I mean, sure, there is animus, but it is practically irrelevant and unobtrusive. It's like how the Spiderman movies are the best MCU phase whatever movies now because they're less connected to the larger nonsense.

The Witcher
Yes, yes, weird dumb mouse clicky combat. My dudes- you have a PC! Install some god mode mods and dig the vibes, story, characters- it's so good! If you already like Witcher stuff, that is. Playing it after the other games and reading the books was one of the most joyful entertainment experiences I ever had.

Is that a selling point in bullet hell? I haven't played too many, but Touhou 6 had difficulty modes back in 2002.
Ok, so Jamestown isn't a Japanese game. Its western, so its trying to appeal to a western market which isn't as familiar with the bullet hell style game and even shootemups. Those were popular here but have really fallen off since fps games showed up. So they are trying to appeal to newcomers and vets.

This isn't another fear case, as Code of Princess did well on 3DS, and later, but more people should and can play the game.. The game got re-released on Switch and PC with Code of Princess EX. EX rebalances the gameplay, no slowdown, and much more difficult. The only gripe is that like the vanilla port on PC, they couldn't secure the rights of the superior English dub. If you got a decently rigged or powerful PC, than you can use a 3DS Emulator and play the English/World versions of game and hear the dub in all of it glory. The English release did provide the Japanese track, so you get the best of the both worlds in this case.

For those wanting the actual physical 3DS version, the game be expensive on the second hand market. Going for $100+ like the game neve sold well or barely at all. Ebay is usually better and cheaper about this, so avoid Amazon.
