The games you absolutely adore and fear too few people have played.

Diablo 2, I've been playing for over 20 years on and off. Never gets old and now with the remaster, it's just amazing.
Really not sure how you could fear that too few people have played D2. Heck, most treat it as the second coming of Akarat. 0_0

I also think Odin Sphere is one of the greatest RPGs ever to be ignore by mostly everybody.
If it makes you feel any better, the PS4 remaster got more people to play and notice Vanillaware's other titles. With Dragon's Crown bein re-released on the PS4 a few years later.

Dandara: Trials of Fear
This game did do well, but not as many play it like Celeste, is because of the difficulty, and there being no easy mode like the latter.

Golden Treasure: the Great Green. Not enough people know this game, its part visual novel, part RPG, part roguelike and you are a dragon. Its awesome and it has a demo that will carry over to the full game.

Yoku's Island Express

I actually played both of these. Yoku's Island Express was fun and breezy but... I dunno, I just felt like it lacked substance. Odin Sphere had a really great story and combat, especially in the remake, but I just couldn't get past the boss in Velvet 6 because it was just too damn difficult in a way that pretty much couldn't be dealt with except by more level grinding than I was willing to do.

I love Yoku as a fan of MVs and average enjoyer of pinball. I thought the mix of such novel, unlikely mechanics worked seamlessly and ended up being a winning combination. I give you that it's all very low stakes (you can't even die) and some pinball tricks can be a bit cumbersome but I enjoyed the hell out of it.

I don't remember who's the Velvet 6 boss. Honestly I never found the game hard at all, except when on PS2 the frame rate would go to shreds during the Odette fight. My only real complaint is that the game hides the good ending behind a specific sequence of fights, then makes you play the ending boss rush in all the possible "wrong" orders anyway to unlock the actual good ending.

I hated that part, and more or less quit the game after that. I still got my copy on PS4. The gameplay has been improved by a huge margin, and the game still gives you the option to play the old PS2 style, but I wish they axed the fake ending bullshit altogether.

Problem with dragon now is that in the last decades or so there's been an avalanche of dragon game of the absolute bottom of the barrel garbage quality, it's like the flavor of the time for crap game. I think a lot are also mobile port, so maybe its really a really popular theme in the mobile crowd?

The wizard and the dragon at the same time. And the way they attack means you basically have nowhere to dodge to and are facing too many hits to block without being guard-broken and wiped.

But yes, other than occasionally throwing a little too much at you at once, and the whole mess that's the final section (which I watched someone else do after giving up), Odin Sphere is a really great game.

Stuff like this (literally one of the first hit I found following the dragon tag on steam)

I think there's some weird overlap between furry and dragon.
Err, ok, that is very different from Golden Treasure. Golden Treasure is more about being a dragon dragon, top of the food chain as you grow and get stronger, less the dating sort with nice boobs.

COD Advanced Warfare.
9Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare (2014) — 21 Million Copies

Advance Warfare was played by more than enough people.

Shadows of the Damned really should get a modern port, now that Suda51/Grasshopper got the license back in 2017. Ninja Baseball Batman needs to come to consoles, GOG, and Steam.

I don't adore it, but I'll plug left alive

(I can't believe they're still selling it full price, but it regularly drop to almost free)

Overall its really not that good with poor control, bullet spongy enemy, re using the same location multiple time, weird online feature and so on.

But it has a bunch of nice stuff, the setting is interesting, its about being trapped in a city under siege/captured by aggressor (its located in a former soviet state that gets invaded by the "not russia"). Most of the game you're on foot and sometime you'll come across mechs that will absolutely tear you apart in a few seconds, which is really cool, it's strangely rare that game acknowledge that mechanized unit are crazy deadly to people. But once in awhile you get to pilot the mech and can absolutely mow down the soldier that are pretty deadly when you're on the ground, there's something great about having to slowly sneak pass roadblock/patrol, just to come and effortlessly clear everything.

Left alive is the kind of bad game I wish there were more of, SE took risk and tried something different and they almost had it

The boring one
Ronin !! Gunpoint !! Mark of the Ninja !!

They are almost the same game, but that's the best game. It almost feels turn-based, it's just about (sometimes a bit pause-y or bullet-time-y) well-timed action. And infiltration. And murder. Night-ey jump-ey murder. And vanishing. And hiding. And murdering again.

I guess I like infiltration games, whether they make you play as an Alien or a Batman or a... or an F117A or a submarine, or a Hitman or... okay, I'll leave some for later. Anyway, those are the tactical sideview versions of them, and play all of them or play none. If you love one, you love the other two, that's all I'm saying.

Also, one reason why I dislike sudoku (which I find terribly mechanical and boring) may be because I've enjoyed so much an old casual cluedo-like sleuth game which was following roughly the same principle but with much more flavor and more interesting relationships between the items to locate.

It was called Inspector Parker and looked like that :

Alas, just tried installing a demo from BIgFish Games, and it really doesn't seem to function on win11 at all (not to mention the obnoxious BigFish Client it installs by default). A shame. That little game was so sweet.

(Edit : It works, in a distorted full screen mode or tiny windowed mode, and possibly without a sound, if you launch it in compatibiliy mode. This thing is old and hasn't been ever updated. Again, a shame. But whatever...)

Okami. It's a cult classic and I know a lot of people have played it but compared to the numbers other much worse stuff has it's totally underserved.

At least Capcom put Okami on to modern consoles and PC. It's on sale at $9.99 for Switch. So more people have gotten to experience it, than being stuck on the PS2 and Wii.

Sadly that's the same old ps3 HD port, not quite on the level of a switch/ps4 port. But yeah it's definitely better than nothing. Though the ps2 version is surprisingly still playable enough. Not that many action games can boast the same.

6th generation 3D or 2.5D action games that have aged well:
  • Devil May Cry 3
  • Ninja Gaiden/NG: Black
  • Otogi 1 & 2
  • God of War I & II
  • Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2
  • Urban Reign
  • God Hand
  • Gungrave
That's all I can think of.

Bot Vice is a game everyone should play at least once!

The eShop sale ends 5/10/23
