I would say halo, just because IMO it's the only series that hasn't made a bad game (halo wars doesnt count because its not by bungie or a direct sequel) someone earlier said Jak. that pulls a close second and would easily be first if not for the original Jak and Daxter.

I love CoD but I wouldn't say it's the greatest as far as whole series goes... IW makes the great ones, the fantastic ones, the unsurpassed ones. While Treyarch makes the garbage, unoriginal, and weak ones.

EVERY series has had a big fuck up in it, so I'd say one of the best series would have to be one that only has one game in it something like Mass Effect... but in time this too will hit a bump in the road

I'm going to have to say Monkey Island. Yes Monkey Island, because it was all killer and no filler. Look at what Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, and Sonic have become. They all put their proud heritage to shame, but MI never disgraced itself.

Bioshock is third in the shock series. The first two were "Systemshock" one and two and were actually vastly superior to their modern day successor.

Gonna have to go with the Silent Hill series. Great atmosphere, wonderful music, three-dimensional characters and let's not forget shitmypants scary.

Four is a bit meeeehhh, but still creepy and cool, Origins is no.... and SH5 is a dissapointment. Still, 1,2 and 3 stand their own ground as the games that have affected me the most and I'll carry with me all my life.
