This critic really undersold the movie. It is a dark satire about activism. Since people who are involved in activism are really sensitive to any criticism at all, it's no wonder they are trying to dismiss this movie as nothing but a senseless gore-fest. The message of the movie is that activists are naïve at best and corrupt at worst. As for the alleged xenophobia, it's not there. The movie doesn't portray the disconnected natives as villains. Sure, they're cannibals. However, they are just people minding their own business and other people from the outside world are intruding on them. If anything, they come off as more victims than villains.

Even though, this movie is dark, cynical, and gory. It does offer some glimmers of optimism. It must be mentioned that this movie is also really funny. It's not completely a comedy. It does asks you to acknowledge the absurdity and hypocrisy of the activist group and the situations that they get themselves in.

Overall, I really liked it. It's not the best movie of the year. It is a really good horror movie to check out in the upcoming month.

I do want to add one postscript. For the people who are complaining about the "xenophobia" and "racism" of this movie and No Escape, because white people are victim of violence at the hands of people who aren't the same race as them. If I were to follow your logic, I must assume that you also found movies like Fruitvale Station, Selma, and 12 Years a Slave "Xenophobic" and "Racist". After all, those movies feature a race of people who were victims of violence at the hands of people who aren't the same race as them.
I'm not saying the film is racist (I think some ways it's offensive but not in a racist sense). I'm saying it's satire Falls flat on its ass.

1st. the social justice Warrior types are people who ***** online, complete Hypocrites and don't do anything productive, these people not only actually do something but you can argue that it's Noble. their actions at the beginning save this tribe from a group of murderous militia.
OK. Re-read my post. I never mentioned SJW. I said "Activists". There is a difference between the two, as you pointed out. Also, have you seen the movie? That is not what happens in the movie.
It was revealed that the activist group leader was being paid by another construction company to sabotage a competing company. So, they will get the job of clearing the trees and removing the natives.
2. as far as my knowledge goes cannibalistic tribes like this don't exist at least not anymore, at best the very anti-outsider but even then I don't think it would go to this extreme(I could be wrong). I stated many times before tribes being murdered and cleared out is a real world problem. that's why I think it's a little offensive, this film isn't going to make the situation worse but it may turn people away from looking at the issue (probably not but still), and the fact of the situation doesn't exist makes the satire run on insane troll logic. It would be like me making a satire on ebooks and making it about if we switch to ebooks all the trees will need to be cut down. social commentary needs to be completely grounded or completely exaggerated. this movie fails to me in both departments.

You?re allowed to like a movie. you had more fun than I did and that?s good but don't chastise me for not liking it and call me a sjw cry baby. people allowed to dislike things too.

ps. soory four pour spelin. I usually don't like writing post this long
I just did a quick search engine about cannibal tribes. They are rare, but a few still exists.

I didn't call anybody "SJW Cry Baby". All I said was, "Since people who are involved in activism are really sensitive to any criticism at all, it's no wonder they are trying to dismiss this movie as nothing but a senseless gore-fest." This movie wasn't meant for everyone. So, I don't expect everyone to love it. Also, I didn't expect people who are really passionate about social issues to like it either. Well, for the exact reason that you have demonstrated. It's great that you are passionate about tribes of uncontacted people. It would help them more if you were maybe less passionate and more knowledgeable about the issue. This movie, if anything, actually raise awareness about uncontacted tribes and the danger posed by tree clearing companies.

Well I'm a dumb ass but
That plot-twist makes absolutely no sense to me, why would a corporation hire an inexperienced guy to do this? if he was experienced, how did no one know about his connections or his past actions? why would he do something that could potentially kill him when he tied himself to the tree with the other? it makes sense for the others sense they wanted to save the natives but why would he risk that if it's only for money? even if he was willing to risk it, why not have an entire group fake activists?

and what is up with that dumb ass sequel hook?

also: I thought Eli Roth movies where "nothing but a senseless gore-fest." there's not much to it besides gore effects and characters you want to die. there's nothing wrong if you like that but I've nothing seen anything beyond that.

Sorry for jump the gun. I can be hot head and have an extreme hate for Eli Roth
