Gigolo mode! *looks it up on youtube* I don't understand how this is a gigolo mode. Shouldn't he be the one stripping down to his underwear and being sexy for her? Then as he turns, his ball sack should be swaying softly because you know, every movement makes human flesh move like light feathers in the wind.

She hired him for sex didn't she? Why does he think he has to give her gifts to get sex with her, she is paying him for sex. He needs to be stripping and dancing, that's what she paid him for.

I get the feeling this isn't a true gigolo mode, I get the feeling that the cheerleader game isn't really what a bunch of male gamers like to clap their hands about thinking that's a proper strong female protagonist.

I get the feeling people are over estimating Suda 51 talents.
Gigolo is actually in use in Japanese as one of those English loan words with a slightly different meaning in Japanese. In, for example, a dating sim, a player who juggles multiple girls instead of picking one is said to be engaging in "gigolo play." I may have gotten the second word wrong there, but you get the gist of it.

OT: I have never played a Suda 51 game, so I can't really comment. I've had the PS2 version of Killer 7 on my shelf for a year, maybe even two years, but I still haven't gotten around to playing it. I really wish I had more free time.

He's the grindhouse director of gaming, and well that means a large preportion of his stuff is going to suck. So sadly this is an example, the trailers were gibberish so i passed and couldn't be bothered with it and i guess it was the right call.

Suda 51 is kind of like Deadpool. You either hate how what they are famous for is being zany and random(At least in the newer ones) or think that he is god of comedy that can do nothing wrong!

This reminds me of the hidden ending of Resident Evil 2.
Silent Hill 2 actually, where she finds out a dog was controlling the whole thing.

Maybe Suda's making a statement about his own previous efforts. Then again, I never played Killer is Dead, so who knows.

I also loved Shadows of the Damned. It could have used a few more levels (or at least the ability to replay levels) and maybe a higher difficulty, but that's just nit picking.

Also, is it just me or is Flemming the evilest villain in gamin history? I get that he's the devil, but usually the devil is less in your face than that.

I suspect that if Suda51 were the one making this comic, he'd decide the first two panels were boring and never bother to make them. I have a good friend who tends to do that kind of thing, and Suda51's work really comes across similarly to me.

First two panels are buildup, it's the last panel that's unnecessary. Still funny, though. Reminds me of manatee gag. (Edit - reminds me of how "manatee gag" trope originated).

Shadows of the Damned was excellent?

Man, I did not see that coming, unless it's a brilliant joke. That game has less content for me to really bite into than a soggy cracker full of air. Could not get into it in the slightest, and quit playing after a few hours when I felt doing laundry would be more fun.

I haven't touched or seen much of Killer is Dead, yet (is it even out yet?), but that doesn't really surprise me. I played Killer 7, and while I love the game, I also remember that I actively hated playing it, and that weird juxtaposition is part of what made me enjoy it. It was twisted, and symbolic, and had almost too much crazy shit going on, and it was amazing as a piece of gaming, but it was also a terrible game, regardless of it's brilliance. It was clunky and jagged and actively felt like an ordeal to play, all while having one of the greatest sets of goings-on in gaming, and being filled with enough off-the-walls, over-the-top outlandishness that fit right in with the zany, madcap antics of the Saints (and their eponymous Row).

Come to think of it, I had much the same issue with No More Heroes, for a time, but then that game actually became fun to play, much like Lollipop Chainsaw. To say a Suda51 game plays fast and loose with making sense, though, that is not hard news to believe. That's like saying ducks have feathers and wear mexican wrestling masks--it's just absolutely easy to find them in conjunction.

I didn't say the first two panels were unnecessary. The comic wouldn't make any sense without them. Really, think about how ridiculously surreal and vaguely meaningful sounding without actually meaning anything those last three panels would be without the setup at the beginning.

My point is that I suspect that a lot of Suda51's games would make a lot more sense with some context, but he isn't interested in giving anyone that context, and it would probably leave them as just boring, mediocre games instead of the weirdly interesting if you're in the right kind of mindset ones they are.

Killer7 is my all time favorite game, and Suda51 has never reached that high again.

That said, Killer is Dead made me wtf a lot. I can't say that about any other release this year. I just wish he'd concentrate more on the way his approach interferes with the gameplay. Flower Sun and Rain for example just f*cks with the player, in a great way.
