Not gonna lie, really wish they would remove the DRM from this pack. I'd buy it in a second if I could get those games without tying them to Steam. Would like to be able to play them when I happen to not be signed into Steam and my internet shits out, as it's known to do.

And are they really making much money from this? The bundles usually make a few million, which is peanuts compared to what the Publishers usually make. THQ's situation must be pretty dire indeed.

I'm not sure what surprised me more about this, that THQ is doing a charity bundle or that THQ has somehow ended up on some people's "evul publishur" list which baffles me, sure SR3 was so busy being "wacky" that it forgot to refine the actual gameplay and Armageddon was a dud but THQ has never done anything to annoy me and has published several great franchises. My only regret here is the timing, I'm pouring all my spending money into a $900 computer so there isn't much left for new games.

I'm not sure if you're serious there. Several of their in-house developers are seriously dickish towards gamers, and they're pushing online passes now.

Their "hard times" are their own doing, and the people who pushed those decisions will not take a hit regardless, but nor will this "fire sale" benefit anyone but them.

That being said, I'd still do it if the games interested me. But the money would go to charity and the Humble tip, because seriously, I don'twant to support THQ.

You know I was going to type up a huge rant about this but I'm lazy so you get the short version: Online passes are not that bad. I have played plenty of used games with that content missing and never noticed, hell I wasn't even aware RAGE had one till someone told me. Also on one hand I fully support used games and am a regular customer at my local GameStop but on the other hand I can see why devs are hostile to the concept and I think Online passes are a decent compromise, certainly better than a PC situation where DRM eliminates used sales completely.

I'm going to get this solely because Dawn of War 1 (pre soulstorm expansion) and company of heroes are in my top 10 games, and because I have a glimmer of hope that one day they'll make another DoW/ CoH game worthy of the name.

Calling RAGE mediocre is being far far too kind.

Sure, its not [Prototype] bad, but when a 20 hour game turns into a total grindfest after a tenth of its gametime (making it feel a whole hell of a lot longer) then you know theres something wrong with it.

Yes well the company being dead doesn't offer much hope either, I'm willing to give them a lot of extra chances to hopfuly not see those IPs die forever, espicaly with a new metro game and a ambitious WH40k RPG in the works

Well not technically seeing as I played on PC which as I said has been putting up with used sales simply not existing for a long time, but on top of that I could be wrong but I don't remember the MP ever being a main selling point of SR3, hell I think I saw the purple dildo more in the marketing then the MP.

The EA Indie Bundle on Steam is a bit different. It still cost $15, which is more than the average price of an average Humble Bundle

I'd like EA to attempt Humble Bundle though, letting consumers affect the price. Just to see them not believing their own bullshit about how sales and the like affect IP value negatively

I was generally talking about EA using the modifier "indie" to describe lower-budget games they published, and how I am a fan of the idea. I wasn't computing it to the Humble Bundles, hence the lack of the word "Humble" in the sentence.

SR3 is a fairly good non-cover shooter from what I've played, and Darksiders is worth a shot. Besides, cokes are for scrubs

Considering their stock just jumped and they have an actual cashflow now, this actually could be the thing that saves THQ.

Now, if only they'd add S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games half-way in.

I feel the same. THQ has been responsible for some very well done games, and i don't know where people get off saying that they are a scummy company like EA. Darksiders 2 is a borderline masterpiece, Metro 2033 is about the only true hardcore survival game to come out in ages, and even though Saints Row 3 was a much lesser product than SR2, it is still a better game than most releases by many accounts in terms of variety and overall stuff to do.

I've already purchased my bundle, hoping that every little bit does allow THQ to stay in the race until their big releases like Metro Last light come out to hopefully bring in decent profits for them.

Also, im not one to thing that big name companies, or any company, for that matter, needs to be defended. They have PR departments for that. But THQ's just always kind of been there, it'd be a shame to see it go, especially with them having a lot of promising IPs under their belt. Think of the sequels, the sequels!
