The prequel trilogy is unredeemably bad. I've gotten into screaming matches with friends who said they were "Okay". No, they are not. Every second of every single one of them sucks, including the third one which sucks just as hard. There's no substance, no good story, no decent actors, only stupidity and special effects. HORRIBLE special effects, mind you. I know this was early in the days of computer animation, but seriously, the movies look Awful with a capital A. There's not a single polygon that doesn't look like it's not taken straight from a PS2 game. Yeah right, they are walking down a corridor, suuure... the bright colors make it look like a fucking cartoon.

By the way, has anyone else notice George Lucas' obsession with cutting off hands? I seriously think this guy has an amputation fetish. Every single Star Wars movie, including the originals, features atleast one hand or arm amputation scene. Fuck, Episode 3 had four.

The prequels are terrible by any standards, but especially hated because the real Star Wars movies were so good. In other words *puts on flame shield* you could call them the Other M of movies.

The first prequel came out, what, 12 years ago? Hardly the stone age.

I'm sure there must be some redeeming features in there somewhere, but I'm not going to sit through them again to find out. Some of the costumes, IIRC, would have looked nice in of themselves, but didn't in the visual style of everything else, I think.

Well, the one in 6 was done to show the similarity with the one in 5, so that made sense. The one in the bar fight in 4 made sense...winning a fight with a light sabre without killing the other humanoid would end that way, you'd imagine.

The prequels...not so much.

I actually hated the Prequels. Not so much for the Story itself or the CGI used etc. More the little Things. For example Episode 1 was good, i mean Liam Neeson is just pure gold to begin with, which made it all the more idiotic to kill him off. Though i think if they didnt lil poor Whiny-***** wouldnt have fallen to the dark side to begin with. Yes im blaming that on Obi-Wan, well partially.

It was interesting to see Vader as a Kid, and the "whiny moments" worked. I mean he was a Kid, so its understandable there. It wasnt later. Basicly Ep2 and 3 were bullshit. Anakin was still whiny and overly emotional, which is ironic given that the Jedi tend to train you to handle them better, as Emotions "lead to the dark side" and all that crap. Its the leaps of logic. For example, Anakin has this Dream of his Wife dying. He doesnt see her dead, just dying. Its not explained how it happens or when, so he deems it necessary that doesnt come to pass. Okay, so far thats alright, you want to keep your Wife alive, nothing wrong with that.

What gets me was the lack of introspection. He literally jumps at that fact without thinking it through at all. He saw the Future, which means that from his current Point of View, this will happen given the Route he is going. He gets said dream again which still shows the same Image, which means that his current attempts or rather Goal of "doing everything to prevent it" will result either in failure or lead to it entirely (which it ironically did). Which means its a good Idea to change Course. Everything he could do he may consider as having already done, failing to achieve the desired outcome. Which means he should do the exact opposite, basicly, dont act on it at all. Basicly, he didnt consider the Fact to think about himself acting on the Situation at all, where as he should be fully aware of how he would react to the Problem and how he would try to solve it. He doesnt talk it over with anyone, not even in a hinted sort of Way, or thinks about it rationally for a second. He just cries and sits in the Corner figuratively speaking.

Also Yar Yar was a waste of space and i will never understand the Idea to even put someone like him into the Movies at all. Its basicly like imitating Gollum from Lord of the Rings, just badly..and stupid. Could prolly point out more "flaws" i had personally with those Movies but really, its more the little Things that are annoying about the Prequels rather than the big obvious Stuff.

One or two I can understand, and I didn't think too hard about the amputations in the originals until after I saw the prequels, but in hindsight... there's just too many of them for it to be a coincidence.

Anyone else ever notice one gaping flaw at the conclusion of every I - III fight scene?

Episode I - Darth Maul watches Obi Wan sail over him, land, then chop him in half.

Episode II - Jango Fett stands there as Mace runs over to him before his decapitation. Anakin stretches out his arm in what is quite possibly the WORST attempt to block a swing before getting it lopped off by Count Dooku.

Episode III - Count Dooku bent over and allowed Anakin to place his saber BENEATH his hands before cutting them off. The four Jedi minus Windu STAND still while Sidious cuts them down (okay, the other guy got a block or two in). It takes Mace Windu, FIVE seconds to consider killing palpatine before Anakin lops his hand off. General Grevious LEAVES his rib cage open, allowing Obi Wan to shoot his heart. Anakin slaughters the Seperatists which just STAND there.

Then the Mustafar fight ends on the most anti-climactic attack in the entire movie. And that's worse is that it's the ONLY practical attack anyone has made throughout the course of the entire move.

But my point is this: Each and every time someone is killed they had an obvious five seconds to prevent their imminent death from happening.
On top of this, to anyone who knows the first thing about using a sword, every single lightsaber fight is ridiculous. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-s6tshiz_k watch how long a single fight takes.

Not only are the length of the fights unbelievable, but the way they fight is as well. It isn't just star wars, it's every film where someone uses a sword ever. Watch any fight sword fight scene in any film any there will be one moment where one fighter lifts his sword over his head. At that moment, he would be dead, as he is exposing not only his chest but his armpit, which is one of the few areas that armour does not cover.

But I felt it shouldn't have received the massive amount of flak it did, sure it was terrible in some aspects like script, but it kept some things like for example when Padme, Obi-Wan and Anakin are in the arena, they face monsters that mirror them and what would happen to them. It isn't given away in the Lucas theme but I saw it. Plus the action sequences were amazing.
I'm struggling to see how the monsters mirror them - didn't padme fight a tiger thing, and anakin fight a rhino thing? Can you explain what you mean there?

OT: I liked them when I was little, but the prequels have such terrible story, characters and dialogue that they come no where near average. Some cool fight scenes, but terrible overall.

Start with episode I, work your way through, and come to understand the extent to which these films are truly hate-worthy.

FUCK you beat me.
Double damn....you know what? I've read most of the books, watched the first 3 movies a billion times, and tried so hard to love the later 3 movies....and believe me i defended them for a long time......that is until i watched "the Plinket reviews".....it was like someone explaining the meaning of life....they are spot on as far as why something in the back of my mind hated the newer 3 movies. Don't get me wrong, I'll still watch them....but in a very MST3K type way. I have a large space in my heart for Star Wars, i even remember as a kid seeing the first movie in a "drive-in movie theater" when it first came out..and i remember when my older brother took me to see Jedi, and as Darth Vader picked up the Emperor at the end of the movie the entire theater stood up and cheered like we were at a concert, none of the newer movies had that kind of impact, but there's some books that I've read that would of made a better movie...i.e. "Shadows of the Empire"..."The Thrawn Trilogy"....the only thing that was good about the last three movies is the super hot girl i met at episode II and dated for 2-3 years.
