Hey, man, some of us just like the cartoon and don't really care about the love and tolerance crap -- and among the ones who do, there's a bit of a divide over whether it was ever anything more than a joke to begin with. You'll notice that my avatar is from Mobile Suit Gundam, not My Little Pony.Xanthious said:But my point in the post you quoted still stands and was just beautifully demonstrated by you. You folks can't distance yourselves far enough away from this guy and it's hilarious. You didn't come out defending Luke you came out and said he the "brony version of Godwin's Law". Hell you said people are more likely to be similar to Hitler than bronies are to be like Luke Allen. Could you throw him under the bus a little further?Owyn_Merrilin said:I know I'm breaking my own rule by responding to you (you're a good poster when it comes to everything else, but in pony threads you may as well be a religious fundamentalist for all the good arguing with you will do), but I have to defend the Hitler thing: the guy who did that was saying that Mr. Allen is no more representative of bronies than Hitler is of the human race as a whole. In fact, I'd go so far as to say he's less representative of bronies than Hitler is of humans, because bronies tend to be quite a bit younger than Luke, while the human race does have a tendency to commit genocide. Bronies are mostly highschool and college students who are too old to fit in the target demographic for most cartoons, but too unemployable to avoid having lots of free time. Many of them fill this time with cartoons, and many of those people like My Little Pony. Hence, bronies.
Edit: To make it even more clear, he wasn't saying that Luke Allen was on the same level in any way as Hitler is. He was saying that referencing him is almost as pointless as referencing Hitler; he was calling a brony version of Godwin's law on you, before you called the standard one on him.
This guy went out and did an interview saying "Yeah there are chaps out there that like My Little Pony, I'm one of em and it's ok be this way" and for coming out and defending the lot of you bronies he's been pretty much ostracized for his troubles. Love, tolerance and understanding indeed.
Edit: As for why bronies try to distance themselves from him, he was picked by a sensationalist news outlet for an article that painted all bronies as creepy basement dwelling 30+ year olds. If someone had done an article abut gamers and picked a guy like that to be representative, and then people started actually thinking that's what all gamers were like, you mean to tell me you wouldn't want to correct them?
