Either way it makes me sick to think some people will probably rebuy this game a second time, please don't, people.
Question; would you react the same if they had made a PC port of the game?
Yes, if it came out this close to the release of the original, for full price, with a significant improvement in graphics, without people being told ahead of time that the PC version was being made. Perhaps you prefer playing games on PC but bought it on PS3 because you thought that was the only system it was being made for. I don't know, it feels like an attempt to sell the same game to you twice, and not even at a discount. If they were giving a discount to people who had purchased it already for PS3 somehow I think I'd be okay with it.
Now obviously lots of games get ported to PC, which is what I assume you're trying to hook me with, I own several. But usually the PC version is being made either concurrently or after the fact, and if it is being made after the fact it almost never sells for full price of the original, or at least that's how it used to work. The re-release of RE4 I bought for Wii only cost me 30$.

Why exactly is that? I bought movies I already owned on blu-ray for the simple fact that they look nicer. When
Lord of the Rings came out on DVD, I bought the DVD's. When the Extended Editions came out on DVD, I bought them on DVD. When the blu-ray got released, I bought it on blu-ray. And when finally the Extended Edition came to blu-ray, I bought those too. It's the general geek way of life to buy things you don't really need, but you do it anyway because you love it so much.
I don't understand this looking down on people for buying things they enjoy.
It's the geek way off life to let people take total advantage of you? Sorry, but I don't understand how it's great for fans to throw away their money on 5 versions of the same thing, you're being milked for cash. Just because you really like something, that shouldn't suddenly make it more acceptable for people to try and take advantage of you for it.
And I'm not just a penny pincher when it comes to these things either, I bought the hardcover 50th anniversary edition of LOTR for 90$ because I thought it was really cool, but the 100th anniversary edition is still a ways off and it's doubtful there'll be a more definitive edition until then. I wouldn't have bought the 40th edition AND the 45th edition AND the 50th edition. It is possible to splurge every now and then without being totally irrational about it.
Also, just another reason to not buy on release. Seriously, nobody with half a brain should still be doing that.
At least you can draw comfort out of how much better you are than everybody that buys games day one.
Yep, absolutely, or at least much smarter, and wealthier for it. And you know what I can do with the money I save? Spend it on other games I want. Don't get angry at me just because I don't make stupid purchasing decisions. Honestly, I would be more angry at the people trying to sell you things knowing full well they'll try to resell it to you again later, or trying to make you buy something before it's even come out.
