Can't wait for the next gen to arrive so I can spend most of it playing all the current-gen exclusives I've missed out on with a heavily discounted PS3.

The Last of Us has held my attention for a whole year and I don't even have the means to play it. I've missed Naughty Dog... Jak 3 was so long ago.
Naughty Dog has changed since then, it really won't be truly the same feeling. Both founders left too. Although Andy Gavin is fairing much better than Jason Rubin at this point. I mean... comparatively.

OT: Doesn't really sound like my bag. Which is good because I have no money to spend on it this month. Which is sad because Deadpool and Resident Evil Revelations are on my list too :/

Still looking forwards to Animal Crossing though! Can't wait! Five more days and an agonizingly long wait on the fifth. Stupid UPS, not delivering until 8 PM.

I'll have to get this game the next time I get money. Let's just hope the hype wasn't for nothing, I do love riding the hype train

I had a horrible dream about this game where I was watching the ending and it turned out Ellie had to go back in time to retcon everything and Joel was getting eaten in the background. It was pretty fucked up. Hopefully this one's ending isn't half as bad.
But what if that was the ending, and you just spoiled it????

Sounds like I Am Alive; but better executed.

I did enjoy I Am Alive though. Didn't get very far though because I was drawn away by my mistress, Crusader Kings II.

I'm still waiting, though, for a hardcore survivalist's game. The Sims: Robinson Crusoe. But with something a little more mature than 'flippidol wappuhdar langpor' and shit more dangerous than, well, deciding whether to shit before or after you invite your friends over.

I personally don't want to buy a $300 console that might not get any new games developed for it once the PS4 comes out, just for the sake of playing a few older exclusives. Though, I might have adopted the PS4 as my new gaming console if this was one of the first games to come out for it.
Why would they do that? If history shows us anything, it's that the PS3 will still be supported even after the new system is released. One, Sony isn't going to just abandon the install base they already have with the PS3 because not everyone will pick up the new console right away. Two, didn't they stop making PS2 games only a year ago? That's WELL into the life of the PS3.

If anything, now is the BEST time to pick up a PS3. Huge library of games (many of which have HD remakes and collections in one package) and are fairly cheap now. You could pick up games now and be playing for years to come.

One child character in the history of gaming I have actually liked. No, not Clementine, although she was tolerable.
I'm going to guess... Nanako?

OT: Game seems interesting but the things that @Parakeettheprawn pointed out, stand out to me, too. I also share his dislike of Uncharted. I was watching a video of the demo and the first two monster encounters were a QTE and a cutscene respectively. It completely murdered the tension.

Still, it looks enjoyable and "cinematic" pretensions aside it seems like my kinda thing.
Dammit! How did you know?! I was perfectly vague!

I really look forward to a demo of this, because i can´t for the life of me figure out what´s so special about it. It just doesn´t look interesting to me, and i always get kinda sceptical when a game is universally praised, it almost always means that i find it to be complete rubbish. I guess i´m out of touch, but i hope it´s good cause i do miss me some survival horror. I´m jost really fearing that the game is focused too much on story and too little on gameplay, because i don´t really care about stories as anything else than flavoring to a good gameplay experience.

Because it would make them more money. The point of exclusives is to sell consoles, this exclusive is not going to sell enough consoles to offset the gain of millions of extra potential customers this late in the game. The fact that Sony is the developer doesn't make an exclusive automatically the best decision in any way.

The only sane reason I can think of why they didn't is that they have plans for the future. Either a port to the PS4 or sequels, but that would be a much greater risk than just porting and cashing now. They can do what they want of course, but publishers generally aren't immune to doing stupid things and my guess is this is simply one of them.

Oh what the heck, I suppose I'll drop the money and buy a full price game.

I don't understand the massive amount of hype this game has been getting. It was first mentioned to me last year and I looked it up, didn't see anything particularly interesting, then moved on. Now all of a sudden everybody is losing their minds over this but I just can't get into it. The game just doesn't look too impressive to me, my first thoughts after seeing the trailer were 'The Uncharted Dead' or 'The Walking Uncharted'. It does have some cool things going for it, like the escort focused gameplay (I love RE4) and the setting seems cool, but that's about it for me. I'm sure it will be pretty good, but I'm not going to be queuing up on release day to buy it.

Almost my thoughts exactly. While it seems to do very well in what it is attempting to do, I don't like what it's attempting to do to begin with. It's why I, personally, have utterly despised this generation of games. I don't want a cinematic experience, that's what I watch moves for. "Emotion Polygons" are just something I can do without. I just want to have a fun time, and this does not look like that at all. If anything, the actual game part of this game looks very mediocre, at best. I cannot fathom how that qualifies as a 10/10; as most places are handing it, and it once again reminds me why the number system is broken.

I guess we shall see once the sales numbers are released. Personally, I don't see how this game coming out on PS3 and so late is at all bad. I am hyped for this game and the reviews have confirmed my pre-order was a good idea. But from reading this thread, I can see that not many share that same excitement (even those with PS3s already).

"Fresh", I think, is a relative term here. I almost rolled my eyes hard enough to generate alternative energy for my house when I read that Last of Us features a zombie apocalypse. I guess it's just too boring for the world to end via the gradual economic downturn hitting a tipping point, coupled with the increasingly damaging effects of climate change, leading to war and chaos on an unprecedented scale, with the subsequent collapse leading to mass famine and factionalization of the small groups of remaining humans as they fight over the decaying remains of civilization.

The latter being what I thought the premise of Last of Us was going to be, or something at least a little bit grounded in reality. I know some fungi are capable of hijacking the nervous systems of insects, and some parasites like the one that causes toxoplasmosis can affect the behavior of mammalian brains. But an infection that completely rewires the human brain to the extent that you become a zombie would probably kill you way before you and your zombie pals can cause any kind of apocalypse scenario.

Seriously, I was sick of zombies before it was cool to be sick of zombies. And that's the first time it was cool to be sick of zombies i'm talking about, before The Walking Dead came out and suddenly zombies were cool again. Undead cretins.

Also, i'm sure Last of Us is still a good game. Just wanted to ***** about people being uncreative with their apocalypse scenarios.

For $250, get one, play all the exclusives cheap, then sell the lot in 2015 by which time PS4 should be down in price and have a half decent library.

Uncharted 2 is #2 of my "game of the generation" and you have to have a PS3 to play it. It is that good. Batman Arkham City is #1. Good GOTY version of that I picked up for $20 for the PS3. All extra missions and skins.

You know what I've noticed? This behaviour only happens with Sony's games.
It doesn't matter what Sony does, the public still hates them.
If Sony cured cancer with a drug that can be administered with a simple injection like any other vaccine, I bet the internet would be full of people complaining that they don't like needles.
So a couple of people said that they hope Last of Us gets ported to other systems probably not realising that Sony owns both the developer and the IP and from this you infer that everyone hates Sony and nothing they do will ever please anyone?

You know that just makes you sound like a paranoid Sony fanyboy right?Sony may come in for a bit of criticism from time to time(sometimes rightly so)but they are far from hated

Pretty much absorbed in Metro Last Light and Hotline Miami at the moment, but this looks interesting enough. Besides, my PS3 has been off since Rising, I gotta heat that shit up.

Hm, sounds interesting, especially the story-aspect, but since I don't own a PS3...
Maybe there'll be a port later down the line or something, who knows.

I miss when zombies were social commentary on western consumerism.
I'm going to pass on this one. Considering the monumental critical acclaim the painfully average Uncharted series received I'll just wait for the user reviews on it.
