The last time a game made you say "wow"

To the Moon... just wow. To The Moon is an incredible game in every way.

I was reading this thread thinking I was jaded gamer who'd lost his ability to be wowed, but you're right, To The Moon was incredible and completely knocked me over when I started playing it. It was so good I was wowing about it days after I finished playing. It's the sort of game that gets better the more you think about it.


Also finally played ME1, the first time you get out into the Praesidum on the Citadel was a wow moment. Just so much space and pleasant design and curves. A pleasure to walk around

I was wowing for days after it too, that game was so touching and so wonderful in every way and the soundtrack was perfect. I'm looking forward to more of it if they do more.

The sight of our air armada closing in on The Crown in the face of heavy flak as our fighters strafed and bombarded the defenders was awesome. Seeing infantry and exosuits rain from the transports along with drop pods from the sky was even better.

The one thing that comes into my head is entering Anor Londo for the first time in Dark Souls. I literally put the controller down and just looked at it for a couple of minutes, amazed at both the graphical quality and how beautiful it actually was.

Same for here for me. The game has a bunch of outstanding areas, but seeing Anor Londo gleaming underneath a setting sun contrasts so strongly with what else you've seen of the game at that point.

The world is in ruins and suddenly you've stepped into the city of gold.

Very, very rarely can a game get that reaction from me. The last time I can recall was when I played Okami. I saw a Great Divine Intervention for the first time and it was so beautiful my only possible reaction was just "Wow!"

Just a few minutes ago actually, I'm going through the start of Persona 4 again because that 2 hour prologue is so hype! There's a part where the school principal announces the first proper murder of the game (P4 is the happiest game about murder ever made btw) and he ends it with "there was no bullying involved though, so it's 'k" Honestly I always forget about that line because it's so silly and out of touch it makes me laugh a bit.

Woooooow, one of the students randomly found dead hanging from a telephone pole and you go on about bullying of all things? Well as long as your school's rep isn't damaged by bullying allegations it's all fine right?

Have I ever told you about how every line and action in Persona 4 is all set up perfectly in line with the mystery story and theme of the game? I'm still noticing more stuff now actually.

Oh and OH MAI GAWD?! OH MAI GAWD?! OHHHHH MAIIII GAWWWD!


8:00, final match. Hype overload. Even if you have no idea what the gameplay mechanics are in this game watch this match. The hype of UMVC3 transcends all. Syncronised hype from the commentators. EPIC

The last time graphically was when I saw how good Halo 4 looked on my 360. Without a doubt the most beautiful game I have ever played on any system, and the art design was fantastic.

But in terms of sheer awe, the last time was near the end of ME3, when Shepard and Anderson are sitting side by side, looking at Earth from the Citadel, and Anderson says his last before quietly passing away. After playing through the previous two games multiple times, immersed in the universe, and grateful to Anderson for believing Shepard and staying in the fight, I just said "Wow....just wow". I didn't cry that hard in the beginning of UP. Unfortunately, the next wow came seconds later, when starchild walked out and I said "wow...WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SHIT?!?!?"

Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Just booting the game up got a wow from me - most games start with annoying unskippable jingles from a dozen different developers. DXHR has this moody ambient music that instantly sets the tone and puts you in the right frame of mind. Brilliant.

The next time I said wow was a minute into the game, because the starting room looked like a real room; piles of paper, post it notes with things written on them, junk food, mess and clutter everywhere. I'm used to featureless corridors and rooms with nothing but a chair and a desk, but this actually looks like a real office. I was amazed at how impressed I was by these little details, and how much they mattered in creating a relatable, involving experience.

while playing Skyrim i was near this big river and it was all pretty with the birds chirping and the butterflies and the trout jumping up stream, even a saber tooth tiger napping around some flowers, the pretty tree's and the sun setting into the snowy mountain tops i said " wow this is freakin pretty" and then a dragon came and i killed it and went back to admiring the scenery. the giant dragon skeleton kinda killed the beauty of the place though.

The whole of Skyrim made me say "wow" to the dragons NPC's and towns to the landscapes and mountains Skyrim just stunning on the Pc.

This. I'm still playing the game now. It's over a year after Skyrim's release and I'm still finding moments that make me say "wow;" most notably when I come upon a beautiful vista topped with an impressive sunset or when I walk beneath the stars while an aurora of colour swirls above me.

God damn it, I just did a huge reply and my connection bombed when I hit post. Here goes again:

My Red Dead Redemption "wow" moment came when I crossed into Mexico for the first time. It was a dark night in the lonely desert, and this song [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IkvAb6THQY] started playing on the soundtrack. It was atmospheric as hell.

One of my more recent moments came during Sleeping Dogs' climactic revenge rampage towards the end. (Don't worry; no spoilers here.) Somewhere around the time I was killing a guy by shoving his face into a lit stove while his buddy writhed on the floor with the broken leg I'd given him, I took a step back and considered that I/Wei Shen had started out as a clean-cut Hong Kong cop, but had become a callous monster who could do this kind of thing and not even blink. It made me reconsider the violence in the game, and it's been a long time since I'd played a game that could make me do that.
