Well, I should know Latin considering I had it as a subject in school for 7 years and also attended a Latin/Greek-terminology lecture in my first semester at the university.

But I don't.
I just completely eliminated this crap from my mind.

Quo vadis and whatnot.
I'm about as adept as Brian [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbI-fDzUJXI].

Foist Est Tout

That's my families motto but bugger if I'm gonna find out what it means. Seems like something to do with fish.

*edit* Apparently it means Faith is everything, strange but sounds cool.

labiae narro unus res dum pectus pectoris narro alius
My favourite quote from "The Count of Monte Cristo", latinified for no good reason.

Also, Ursus Astrorum is a username I use a lot. A gyro to anyone that can translate it. It accurately describes me, IMO.
Bear of the stars? I'm not entirely sure but I know Ursus is 'bear' and the only thing I can relate Astrorum to is 'astra', which I think is stars...

Space bear?

OT: I only really know mottoes, but I quite like 'Nemo me impune lacessit'.

No one crosses me with impunity.

Aye. Ursus is the male form of Ursa, which is bear, and Astrorum is the genitive plural of Astrum, which is star.

Space bear?
Eh, I'm going for more of a spiritual sense than a literal sense, but why not?

EDIT: Oh, and

...that's Latin? I thought that was Japanese - I'm so numptish.

But, Latin-wise, Suus in memoriam ("In her/his memory") and Ad astra ("to the stars") are a few bits I remember. I also remember, in my year nine latin examination we had to do a two page translation about Troy and 4 people translated the word for horse, as the word for water jug - so it was the Trojan water jug.

Eheu! omnes Pompeiiani ad theatrum ruunt!

I have forgotten most of my Latin, sadly. One mark off an A* at GCSE :x

Carpe jugulum...

Edit: also "Quod Erat Demonstrandum"
Discworld's own Latatian, very nice :) I understand a little bit of Latin that I picked up from Latatian, but otherwise not much. Can anyone get this though, my old school's motto? No cheating, but extra cookies if you can tell from the motto the name and location of my old high school.

Quas dederis solas semper habebis opes.

Let me know if you think you've got it right.

Wait... your old school has a wikipedia page?!

Edit: apparently mine does too, though it's a stub...

Apparently so. It did have more on ages ago though, but it's been cut down a lot. No idea who made it, although some friends of mine did Uncyclopeadia pages for certain teachers, who knew and could take the joke. Sadly some twat trying (and failing) to be funny deleted half of them whilst trying to make his own with his own stuid jokes. He was an idiot.

EDIT: Actually, just as a sidenote, one of the former teachers there (now head of our contingent of the CCF, for those who know what that is) was made an MBE a few years ago, if anyone's interested. Which you aren't. But still. Something interesting to say.

Ahem.
