We all know there's no such thing as a perfect game; even if all the major things are great you will always find some little thing that annoys you.

So my question is this. what little thing (button layout, voice actors, etc.) would you change in a game to make it better?

for me i'll go with ME2; i would bring back the quick swap weapon button from ME1, while being able to map another power is great i use guns more often so having that quick swap would really speed up the combat.

Another thing for ME2, bring back the shortcut buttons for the journal, squad, and other menu functions.

Seriously, why the hell wasn't that in the game?

Also, I'd like take cover, sprint, and activate to be separate keys please. Sure its good for a controller, but this is a keyboard, I really can't see the reason why they were all bound to the same damn button.

Also, another thing for RPG's: Have people notice, and comment on what you do/did in the world.

Playing through New Vegas, I love how people always go "hey, your the dude that did *insert thing here*." Yes, yes I am, thank you for noticing!

Better then other RPG's where you could either save the world, or blow up a town and nobody would seem to fucking notice.

I've never understood the issue with having several functions bound to the same button, myself. Avoids needless complexity (the worst kind of complexity).

OT: I'd give Homeworld some sort of speed up function after the mission's been completed and you're harvesting all the resources. Even the beautiful backgrounds (skyboxes? Not sure since they do surround you completely) and music gets old after a while.

In Mass Effect the skip dialog button shouldn't also double for a select dialog choice button. that's just cruel

Complexity? Its just assigning different actions to different keys. Thats not complex, thats basic stuff PC gamers have been doing for 20+ years.

I would get rid of the "sprint" button in every FPS or sandbox; you are always running it makes no sense walking around being a bullet magnet

But.... You can just hold X to switch weapons.

Mass Effect 2, removing the RPG aspects such as weapon upgrading, implementing the new cover based combat with about as much subtlety as a brick to the face.

ME2 might have been a great game, but that was not.

Batman: Arkham Asylum, satisfying bosses. Batman doesn't just solve all his problems by punching things, in the books he gets into all sorts of traps and situation he has to think his way out of very carefully. A true puzzle boss would have been a lot of fun, and needn't even have been the Riddler, Two-Face and Penguin did it often enough.

As a lifelong console gamer I must admit I can't see the point of using multiple buttons in cases when one works fine. Oh well, I won't argue about this since I can already tell it won't go anywhere.

A save anywhere option for those games that do not have it. Also ...no limit to the save slots. Seriously.

Killzone is my favorite shooter series so far, but I'm still not a fan of it's control scheme. As much as I don't really like CoD anymore, it does have the best control scheme for Console Shooters, and I think CoD should be like that.

I kinda wish Monday Night Combat had the q key switch weapons. It's annoying to accidentally let loose a power when you really wanted a bigger gun.

personally for Mass Effect 2 I'd map the "sprint button" to something other than the "hide behind cover button" it's so annoying to be running like hell away from a Krogan with a shot gun but the get with in 5 feet of cover and slam up against it on the wrong side.

If sprint is on A hide behind cover should be on B

but the biggest nit-picky thing that pisses me off about an otherwise great game is the reuse of character animations in Dragon Age Origins.

you remember the scene where Lady Isolde is yelling at you about her son but she's using the same "Obama Hands" that Morrigan uses to tell you about Flemeth's back story.

TF2, I'd nerf the shit out of the Pyro or at least make it take a little skill. Most likely I'd cut the afterburn down to very little damage. Seriously, it does about 60 damage if it GRAZES you.

Also the Engie's turrets are stupidly overpowered perfect auto-aim bots that do damage like a heavy at a distance like a sniper that has way too much health. Seriously, it needs an actual weakness besides the sappers because those break like paper mache anyway.

His point is that, in the vast majority of cases, it does work fine.
However, every once in a blue moon, having one button do three things results in it not doing what you wanted it to do at the time.
On the limited control scheme of a Console gamepad, that's a pill one has to swallow, and it's certainly surviveable.
On the other hand, it makes no sense not to use the extended keybind capabilities of the Mouse/Keyboard combination to completely eliminate any chance of "once in a blue moon" causing you pain.

Little differences in video games..?

Can I add at least 20 pounds onto all those anorexic video game characters out there? Perhaps more?

I mean, really. I love the human body. Especially the curves of the female form. (From an artistic perspective, as I am asexual)

Most video game characters' bodies are wrong anyway, but the body fat of female video game characters are all wrong. I imagine if they were say, a bit closer to a healthy weight, their bodies would be less... offensive to me.

I'm sorry, but on a healthy female body, there should be fat on the stomach. There are going to be a crease between a woman's arm and their torso. I can't recall the last time I saw the butt and lower back of a female video game character be both healthy and accurate! It drives me nuts and makes me have difficulty getting comfortable with most female characters.
/disappointment in society's flawed perception of what the human body looks like

OK, I understand what you're saying. Still inexperienced with PCs (I have a new one - quite a good one - but all I use it for is Minecraft).

Beauty is completely subjective. To some, an anorexic woman is gorgeous.
Yes, but this thread is about changing little details in games that bother the individual poster, and unhealthy and/or terribly innacurate representation of the female body in "realistic" games because people these days can't handle the looks of a healthy woman bothers me terribly.

Sure, there are some fascinating features to be found in any human body, and there are lovely thin people (look at most female actors these days), but making a small, blatantly malnourished woman in a battlethong out to be the grand hero is just so amazingly alienating.
"Oh hai, you want to play a believable female character? Sure. Here's a blatant sex object. Looking sexy is all we designed her body to do. If you're lucky, she'll have a slightly believable personality! Have fun trying to identify with this character!"

Morrowind wasn't that bad with the character models, but I still found them a bit disconcerting. At least it had the option of rolling a dinosaur. More games should have the option of making dinosaur characters- I find it absolutely hilarious.
