I'd say 17-18 hours asleep, and Around 40 hours of being awake. I sleep too much, around 13 hours every day, if not more.

The longest i've ever been awake for was about 40 hours, nothing too major. As for sleep I guess about the longest i've ever slept was only about 12 hours, I can't stay asleep for a long time for some odd reason.
Went to a Christmas party one year, drank & partied till about 4 in the morning then i slept for two hours, then got up at 6 & went to work & was perfectly fine. I love sleeping but i don't seem to need much of it.

The longest I've ever slept was about 3 days, give or take. A 105 f temp really fucks you up...

The longest I've ever been awake, just under 7 days. Was hallucinating something fierce! I used to have really really bad insomnia when I was younger.

I'm not entirely certain about the longest period I've slept, but I'd say it was somewhere in the region of 22 hours. The longest I've been awake was about 52 hours. Pulled an all-nighter, walked up a mountain the next day, pulled another all-nighter, went to sleep the next day at around 9pm.

I started to hallucinate [not good hallucinations, either] near the end. I love sleeping, so it was probably withdrawal symptoms.

Nothing special. How/why do some of you people posting stay awake for almost a week!? Its pretty damaging for your health I have heard, and it will kill you if you stay awake for over a week............. Imma give it a go.
I think it's kinda like trying to kill yourself by holding your breath. Eventually you will pass out and start breathing. Likewise, unless drugged or suffering a condition you will eventually pass out and sleep. In fact after about 20 hours awake you begin having microsleep's which are completely unnoticeable and last about 30 to 60 seconds. During this time you effectively black out without realizing it, which is exactly why they say not to drive while tired.
Still doesn't answer WHY most people here have attempted it, I feel a bit left out. Am I missing something here? Is there some promotional giveaway from a sleeping pill company that I am missing out on?

18-20 hours of sleep, and almost 50 hours of being awake.

The former is when I'm feeling particularly lazy, and the latter was at a weekend LAN party in 2006.

The longest I've ever slept is about 12 hours, and that's with tons of Haldol, Seroquel, Olanzapine and Zopiclone in me. Longest I've been awake us about 5 days. By that time, my psychosis combined with the sleep-deprived hallucinations made me paranoid that there were gnomes in my shower. Fucking gnomes. In my fucking shower. I had to squat pee over the sink in the kitchen, and could not go in the bathroom for any reason, cos you don't fuck with gnomes. Then I fell asleep and it was nice.
See, this is what I always hear, but I KNOW i was awake for five days straight, and the only effect I noticed was fatigue and short temper. What does that mean?
Well, the only reason I was that far gone after 5 days awake is the fact that I am indeed psychotic (for those who don't know, psychosis is a broad term for mental disorders, of which schizophrenia is one), and was not medicated during that time, thus my already persistent hallucinations were worsened by my lack of sleep. If you didn't have any hallucinations after 5 days awake, you were either too tired to notice them (from what I hear, most sleep deprived hallucinations in normal people are very subtle, shadows moving and whatnot), or you just got lucky and aren't one to hallucinate.

Either way, a normal person will NOT have conversations with shower gnomes after 5 days awake.
