Mostly any popular music. That's all basically crap... and early metallica (though I haven't listened to much earlier stuff), and Dragon Force.

Most under-rated: Newer Metallica (I never heard St. Anger, but I like Death Magnetic, and I especially like what they did with S&M (The big live show)), Demon Hunter (I only include that based on the lack of people even being aware of it... at least, that I know... though if I'm including bands like that: Stratovarius (Not the newest stuff, but before the self named album), Sonata Arctica (Almost all of their stuff)), and Dream Theater.

So many parenthesis...'s...

I'm jumping on the bandwagon and saying the Beatles. Me and a friend constantly argue over this, with him believing that the Beatles defined music or something. Personally, I think that they were talented song writers, but terrible musicians. The kinks were much better.

U2 and Kings of Leon. I really don't like more than "Beautiful Day" by U2, and Kings of Leon are just not that good.

A Day To Remember? Never even heard of them.

I'll say Radiohead, although I appreciate their work and their highly publicized free release album has had a positive impact for the distribution of music; I still find their music overrated.

What I said was that the beatles have earned their reputation through something solid and undeniable (influence). To be overrated they need to have a reputation born solely out of opinion.
I think, now /thread, since this has devolved into mostly an argument about why The Beatles are/aren't overrated, and this is the most eloquently phrased reason for I have seen yet.

I like Radiohead, but people need to stop refering to them as if OK Computer was the greatest album ever.

not a band, but an "artist"...Deadmau5

I don't get how you can hype someone so strongly even though his music is at best only decent.
If you've heard one Deadmau5 song, you've heard them all

every Emo Band

You will not believe the insane amount of love they get here. And on The Beatles , sure they might me a tad overrated , but they were really a great band who deserve all the accolades the got (my opinion of course)

+1 more vote for the beatles, they seem unoriginal and bland, with little more than basic ability with their instruments.

Kings of Leon - the music sounds ok but the lead singers voice pretty much ruins all of their songs, I don't see the appeal in the slightest..

Lol at the kids saying the Beatles.

It really is sad to see the new generation take the roots of their music for granted.
Agreed. I doubt most of the people saying The Beatles are overrated have heard more than a few of their songs. Okay, you've heard "Come Together," "Hey Jude," and "Let It Be" (all of which are amazing songs.) They had over 300 songs. Sure, a lot of it was... not revolutionary - I'm looking at you, Ringo - but they were easily one of the most revolutionary bands of all time. Saying they're overrated is like saying the wheel is overrated.
Actually, I've listened to a lot of Beatles songs, and I only liked about 2 and a half. It's just not enjoyable music, and it's just plain not good. Sure, they pioneered new recording techniques, but besides that they're about as good as my buddy's garage band.

But, on topic, Kesha. If you're going to "dance like you're dumb," at least sing like you are, too, please, you drunk skank.
I disagree, While they were good, and music wouldn't be what it is today without them, when people had to take precautions for 'bodily leakage' as a result of them appearing within the vicinity of women(and probably more then a few men too) I think there may be a bit too much hype involved.

I agree with you on Kesha though, no talent AND popular, bleh.

I Know I am going to receive a lot of hate because of this but I never thought Bon Jovi were THAT great, yes they do have some really good songs but out of the 80s rock there are better.

also NIRVANA

There is a disturbing amount of dislike for the Beatles in this thread.

I think that Metallica, and AC/DC are pretty crappy bands who's music really isn't all that impressive.
It's VERY disappointing to me to see so many people who don't understand what made The Beatles so great, and why they're still such a great band. You don't have to like them but the things they've done, the places they went with music...But that is a discussion for another thread.

OT: I'd say most pop artists of today. The lyrics aren't brilliant by any means, some of the musical choices are.....questionable....and they seem to be able to just rake in the money. Of course there are a few who don't fall into this category but by and large they all sound samey, and they all take the same approach to their music.

Metallica.

I never understood why so many people love them.
Their early releases is thrash metal with soul to it and well written music.

Although they are overrated, i love them.
Their best thrash song was a cover , stone cold crazy was originally by Queen.
