The Most Overrated Anything

I find Valve very overrated. Most of their games are just average, not the bad average mind you (HL2 aside), but average to the point where the worship gets annoying.

I also find money to be terrible overrated.

I think Modern Warfare 2 is really overrated. It isn't all that great as far as I'm concerned.

Indeed, I played a little MW2 yesterday, it sucked. I got either noobtubed, sniped or knifed ALL the time. Didn't stop me from getting a 2,6 K.

Overratedness in the mainstream media:
Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, almost all rap/hip hop actually, make that the mainstream music industry in general.
Also, Twilight, I was forced to see that in school, I'm scarred for life now.
And then we've got Global Warming, the most overrated thing EVARR imo.

Blade Runner - a clunking, wheezing, plot-hole-filled turd with a wooden lead that's held up as a science fiction milestone seemingly only for the visuals. Speaking of which, RIDLEY SCOTT. Yes, he's made Alien, Thelma and Louise and Gladiator (masterpiece, excellent and very good) but lately... Kingdom of Heaven? Robin Hood? A GOOD FUCKING YEAR??? He's made some bona fide shitty films.



Although according to MovieBob the director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven's a completely different movie... wish I could say the same for Blade Runner.

The iPad

Though I'd agree, there are many portions of the internet with huge backlash against it.

See the iPad LITERALLY IS just an iPod Touch with a bigger screen. Crack one open and out will fall the iPod Touch/iPhone motherboard... of course the only thing that distinguished iPod touch from the iPhone is the 3G phonecall capability that most iPads lack. Just got a slightly up-clocked CPU and GPU, the exact same type of processor, same type and quantity of memory.

The device is worth HALF of what it sells for, $250 component and manufacturing cost for the entry level 16GB.

Oh and the secret to the battery life? Not super efficiency, 60% of the device's weight and volume is battery, the small rectangular iPod touch motherboard means there is plenty of room on the same plane. That's likes saying: "yeah my Laptop's got a 10 hour of use... but the battery weighs 10 lbs!"

But all that is forgiveable, the unforgivable part is this huge expense is for a locked down walled garden to "replace" your laptop. Say bye bye to freedom: "bye bye, we're drinking the Apple kool aid now... mmm it's so delicious"

You should watch some of Charlie Brooker's shows like screenwide and newswipe... but be really bloody post-modern and watch them on youtube that someone illegally uploaded. It leads to some kind of mind boggling 4th-wall moments

Halo 3

I was thinking about this whilst reading the thread, well not so much Halo 3 as the entire series. Not meaning to sound like you're A-Typical Halo hater here, the games aren't bad, just not that great either.

It's already been said though, there's so much Halo hate around lately it's quickly becoming underrated, strange what becomes "cool" on the 'net :/

As for my own idea... Toast, that gets alotta love, it's just hot, dry bread

READ the books before you hate the series the books are MUUUUCH better and give you an idea of what the games SHOULD BE. anyway for your toast comment I will say your obviously eating it wrong because while its hot you take the soft butter and cover the toast with it and when its hot and melted you eat it. Perfection really.

OT id have to say television is overrated and so is basketball. I mean thats REALLY lame basketball...
