I won't claim to have ever trolled before 4Chan went mainstream, but I have to agree, most "nerds" (at least among people I know) almost look upon trolling the way that the gangsta lifestyle used to be, like they're suddenly hard or badass for being trolls. It's rather amusing, most of them are more or less the antithesis of that IRL.

I used to play a game called Cybernations, and there was this one troll named ComradeVader (or just Vader) who would periodically come back and steal peoples' passwords and generally cause mayhem. It was always pretty funny. He had 7-8 accounts too, and all of them got shut down by the mods eventually.

Oh, you joined in 2010... he was around last year and what he would do was make an account where his name would be koobboot or something similar. The pattern of his name was almost always the same and he would join and make a thread talking about why he hated Halo... and he went on and on just flaming everyone and then he got banned... and he rejoined and got banned again... and again, and again... he was really annoying, but thankfully he wasn't a picture spammer or anything. He would just make a ton of accounts with pretty much the same name and just bash Halo and its fans...

Not only do the developers get shitloads of money out of this but they are also getting publicity in the form of threads like these. Mount & Blade is an incredible antidote to the dumbed down/casual/whatever the buzzword is this month titles that keep flooding the market. Go play the demo.

Oh, yes, indeed. I remember him. I also recall there was one memorable time a few months ago when he turned up and I, along with a few others back then, spent half an evening patrolling the forums, PMing mods and reporting every time he sprung back up again. A war of attrition, I believe it's called.

They must have either figured out what he's up to by now, or be wondering what the hell he needs 17 copies of one game for... I'll bet they've got a book running in the stockroom on the reasons for his constant buying of Warband .

Those of you who play Mount and Blade Warband will probably have heard of the infamous Elliot Brown, aka virginmary, who has decided to try and troll the Warband community by going into games and teamkilling players. However, his serial key (the number given to you when you buy warband) keeps getting banned from every server, so he simply buys another to continue teamkilling. Right now, he claims to be at his 17th serial key, so he has bought the game seventeen times, over 400 pounds, just to continue pointlessly teamkilling players...

Not that I would want to attract attention to him, but it seems pretty unbelieveable that someone would be this delusional and waste so much money pointlessly buying the game over and over again, but he still persists , even though he gets permabanned nearly instantly from most servers.

Personally, I think its just more money for the developers, but it does mean that people become discouraged from playing the game, which is probably his entire reason.

Any thoughts about this subject?

What? Are you serious?? I'll bet a good portion of people he kills are in some way religious.

Regardless of that, I always find "Holy Wars" to be so absolutely moronic. It's like "I believe in God/Jesus and all his teachings of love and forgiveness, but if you don't believe in him, I'll kill you." Talk about stabbing yourself in the foot. If you believe in heaven and hell, that's a good way to get into the latter.
