When people complain about a multiple defining aspects of a certain genre to the point where they're practically saying something like "Oh, I'd like first-person shooters better if they weren't in first-person and didn't have any shooting".

Orrrr when people complain about a specific genre based solely on stereotypes of that genre or their experience with only one game... Poor JRPGs. Some FPS fan plays ONE Final Fantasy game, doesn't like it, and immediately bashes ANYTHING that comes out of Japan. Sheesh.

Oh boy, yet another "X thing you didn't like about a game" thread. As if the internet could use one more cynical / pessimistic topic.

I'm all for sharing opinions, but the internet seems to be usually discussing nothing but negative stuff.
Welcome.

The latest seems to be a game that never purported to be an open world RPG not being an open world RPG.

Hmm. Either silent protagonists used as a cop-out to avoid developing an interesting character (though obviously there are some good ones), or when games offer "vast moral choices that impact the story", but that basically translates to a bunch of dialogue trees, 95% of which barely change the dialogue after them.

Not to do with games, but when someone complains about the bathroom being full at a restaurant or something. What do they expect the employees to do about it? Walk in there and drag them out?

More OT: In REd Dead instead of letting people walk all over you, I wish we had the option to just shoot them in the leg and make them do what you wanted... That was so annoying in an otherwise fun game, but I suppose a whole lot of games are like that really *cough* zelda *cough*

I wish they remove QTEs completely. What's the point of awesome cut-scenes if I cannot watch it because I was too busy pressing the right buttons?

I hate how I could not interact with everything in video games.

I hate it when the protagonist has gone through the whole game, killing henchmen left and right, then when they meet the main villain they can't bring themselves to kill him.... because they "aren't a killer" or something.
The worst game to do that was Uncharted. He is killing people to get a treasure. I could never do that, if they want the treasure so much that they would die for it. They can have it. And then at the end he doesn't kill the bad guy. Because "that just isn't him".
Best game to do away with this was Bound In Blood, "Look around kid, *scene of all the guys you killed in the level*" and then "So you mean a cold-blooded murderer like me can be forgiven?" "YES!" *shoots the villain in the head* "Well, that's good to know."

I hate that the gunshot sound effects in Modern Warfare are so weak. Firing away entire magazines doesn't have any impact. As awful as it was, Medal of Honor had excellent sound effects for the weapons. If you played a particular level at a loud volume, your ears would ring afterwords. It also helped that they were more liberal with the vibration triggers.

Pretty much people who never buy games in genera X yet complain about genera X. Not only is there argument most likely hot gas but in addition they're not going to buy the game anyways and the people who do buy the games probably aren't going to change because one angry on the internet does not like certain games.

Ease up people, he's just talking about the really silly complaints here. Y'know, the things that are small enough to not matter but still irritate you. Don't take it too seriously.

Anyway, here's mine:

I dislike how in the more action-heavy Mass Effect 2 cutscenes, every character uses an assault rifle. I realise it was for animation purposes, because they needed the characters to be interchangeable without having to make dozens of variations to account for each squad member's loadout. But it still annoys me. "Damnit game, why is Mordin using a rifle? He doesn't even carry one. And now Jack's doing it too! And now even my Vanguard Shepard has pulled a damn rifle out of the aether! Graaaahhh!"

Something that surprised me a few years back, I was playing Final Fantasy X and I suddenly realised that during the cutscenes all the characters were carrying the weapons I'd equipped them with. It was all like "Fucking hell Sqenix, you really do pay attention to detail!"

OT: I hate the fact that over the past few years, Cliff Blezinski has conditioned me to relax when I hear the noise in Gears of War that sounds after you defeat a group of enemies.

Look up the Runescape official forums, you'll see about a hundred of them.

But as for me. :v I know you're a really vengeful guy, Mercer, but can't you AT LEAST have an option to put someone down after you pick them up?

I dislike when people judge a majority in another country, assuming that most citizens who live there are alike. For example- everyone despises Americans for obvious reasons like being to loud, always showing off like we're "The Best", no consideration on how fortunate we are, ect.

But truth be told, a lot of Americans really care about other nations, donating to charities for countries like Africa... personally I don't speak loud at all, thus most Americans try to reserve things (well, not cause of 'consideration' but leaving the lights on costs electricity = tax so cutting it down lowers the payment on things).

It's alright if you dislike a particular group because of behaviors or what they stand for, but please don't compare everyone who is related by living with them or having conditions similar to them. It's like if I judged every guy to be a low life due to so many treating women poorly- then that alone is wrong, while being incorrect. Not all guys treat girls like dirt, just those that do stand out. That's all.
And...worrying about people hating USAliens is a pointless complaint?

Glad we've sorted that out then. ;)

In that case, I'd add that I hate people that treat video games like an teaching aid for real world militaries.

Same complaint, but applied to the Halo series. I usually ditch the Assault Rifle/SMG first chance I get, yet the Chief always uses them as his primary weapons during cutscenes. Doesn't he know that they're only good for mowing down Grunts?

You'll be happy to know it's in the sequel.

When you're doing a quest, and then you have to talk to this person in order to continue the quest, and then once you talk to the person in order to complete the quest they tell you that in order to complete the quest you have to do another quest for them, and then once you start the quest for them you talk to someone else and that opens up like 3 more quests, and the cycle continues.
not only that, but when the guy i have to talk to is only around at one exact time, so i have to waste time waiting for them.
