I think it would be The Bourne Conspiricy.
Pros- good gameplay, realistic, great gun mechanics, excellent hand-to-hand combat fights
Cons- most bosses have insane amounts of health, game is short (1-3 hours), no multiplayer

I'd like to add one to my original post of Ogre Saga, and that's the Landstalker, Lady Stalker (really weird name) and Climax Landers/Time Stalkers series. One of the best JRPG's, ever, on a SEGA?!? It was unheard of, but awesome. Climax Landers/Time Stalkers is my favorite of the the three. A dungeon crawler with aspirations of Final Fantasy and a dash of Pokemon thrown in to boot. I mean, hell, with a VMU, the monster system was a Pokemon clone almost. It's too bad we rarely see handheld-console features like that...maybe Sony or Nintendo will actually try to do something now with the DSI or the PSP Go.

Armored Core in general.

Everyone is sucking on the dried teet of the Gundam Franchise, leaving poor Armored Core to it's fewer fans. It makes me gears grind.

I posted this in a similar topic:
The cool independent crowd will probably kill me for this this, but...
I didn't like Beyond Good and Evil. Or rather, I didn't "get" Beyond Good and Evil.

Everybody said that it's awesome, but when I tried it out, it was just a boring and bland gaming experience for me. I thought it was so boring that I didn't even had patience to finish it.
Well, I suppose that's what "cult" means. Not everybody is going to get it.

And a game that I think is under appreciated... I'd say Final Fantasy IX. I know, I know, it wasn't that under appreciated, but I think it's the most underrated of the series. I still can't believe how some people think that FFVIII was better.

Beyond Good & Evil. No one seems to know about it yet it's so amazing.
I agree completely. Also, Okami, as well as Eternal Darkness.

And maybe Golden Sun, for the GBA. Don't know if that's considered under-appreciated, though.

good news about Valkyria Chronicles actually... ever since DLC came out, sales for VC has increased by 400%. so it IS being appreciated! yay! :D

edit: also, I think Okami's rather under appreciated... but then everyone already knows that :p

Monster Hunter for Ps2. It was such a great game and did very well in Japan but no one really knew what it was or played it in North America.

guild wars (pc). most people started playing the single player, alone, which is very boring. however, if you start playing with a friend (like i did) then single player is really enjoyable, coming up with great skill combo's and the variety of skills is pure genius. then you have the pvp scene, which back in the day was totally untouchable for rpg standards (makes world of warcraft pvp play like fecal matter)

titan quest (pc) is also under appreciated, the best diablo clone ever and it's a really great montage for ancient mythology, which i find very interesting.

King's Bounty - a Heroes of Might and Magic precursor that is, in a word, addictive.

True Love '95 - a hentai/dating sim fusion that's surprisingly good.

Magic Pengel For the PS2. You got to PAINT/CREATE YOUR OWN MONSTERS!!! How beast is that? It's got the best user created content on a PS2 game. It's just ridiculous that this hasn't been exploited again.
Yeah, but the actual game was sort of meh.

Illusion of Gaia (SNES) - I don't know anyone who's played this game, but I loved it. Played it through so many times. <3

Legend of Dragoon (PS1) - Great game, but I recall the voice acting being kind of annoying (during the end FMV you could barely hear their voices).

Parasite Eve (PS1) - Ok, not exactly 'unknown' but I don't feel it gets enough love.

The 7th Guest (PC) - This is an old one, but have never heard anything about it. Horror puzzle game, used to freak me out as a kid.

If I recall, much of the attention that game got was positive, or statements from people who did not play it. Do you mean in sales?
For Valkyria Chronicles, sales.

For Warship Gunner, both sales and recognition. A game that causes its players to become sick with "Shipyard Fever" (the obsession with building faster and stronger ships) so easily has to be accreditted for being both good and immersive. Unfortunately Warship gunner never made it big because it was a third party game and did not feature blood or breasts.

If you've played any of these you get a cookie!

Ranger-X Genesis/Megadrive - This is one of the greatest 2-D shooters I've ever played. Right up there with Contra and R-Type. (Although it's really more similar to the former than the later.)

Tech Romancer Dreamcast - A really imaginative fighter that was basically a Hail Mary to giant mech anime.

Seaman Dreamcast - The Sims on crack.

Vector Man Genesis/Megadrive - A side scroller with awesome graphics and soundtrack.

Dashin Desperadoes Genesis/Megadrive/Neo Geo - A 2-D platformer/racing game. Not much fun single player but the multiplayer was a blast.

Toe Jam & Earl Genesis/Megadrive - This ones to trippy for me to bother describing. Go Youtube it.

Yeah I know these are all on Sega consoles, but what the hey. I had a Genesis during the fourth generation.

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

It has a few bugs, but it's win in all aspects of the word.

Oh I got one! Star Wars Republic Commando. Fantastic game, and I wish there was another one.
I played Republic Commando. It definitely had potential with the squad game mechanics, but it just felt like a gimmick to me and it was way to short. But if you enjoyed it try Rainbow Six if you haven't all ready.
