Let's see...

Nosferatu (1922) - Saw it once, it was pretty creepy.
Metropolis (1927) - Brilliant and still watchable, the art design is sublime.
King Kong (1932) - Now we're talking, one of my favorite movies of all time.
The Universal Monsters (1931 - 1956) - I haven't seen all of them but I have seen the big ones, Frankenstein, Wolfman etc
Godzilla, aka Gojira (1954 - Present) - The first one is strangely sad, even to this day. The rest are beyond cheesy fun.
Forbidden Planet (1956) - I have seen this but it was such a long time ago, it's slipped my mind. May need to rewatch.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers(1956) - Still creepy, black and white films have that effect.
The Films of Ray Harryhausen (1955 - 1981) - I own all of the films he worked on... yep, that is all haha!
Hammer Horror (1955-1974) - Ah, now this is an odd ball. Even though I'm from the UK, most of the films keep jumping out of my way. I've seen a the main Dracula but the rest... I'll get on it!
Psycho (1960) - Mandatory viewing, nerd or not. It's pure genius film making.
Fantastic Voyage (1966) - Heard of it but haven't seen it, one for the list i guess.
Night of the Living Dead (1968) - This one is also mandatory, but yes just for nerds this time haha. What kind of nerd doesn't love a good zombie flick?
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) - Yep and I saw this one coming upon reading the title of this article alone.
The Planet of the Apes Series (1970 - 1973) - These are great but the really decline in quality as the series goes on.
Solaris (1972) - Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for including this! The Soviets did make some classic films!
Soylent Green (1973) - It's not the twist that made this film memorable, it's just so... depressing and bleak in a way.
Jaws (1975) - ...really? Who hasn't seen this?
Logan's Run (1976) - Nope, haven't seen this one... dam, I was doing so well to.

90% film nerd at this point then haha! Overall it's a near perfect list of films you've compiled there Bob.

Let me throw in some more, not too many though otherwise I'll exceed some sort of word count: Them!, Stalker, Blade Runner, The Thing, Dark Star.

At the risk of pissing off a lot of movie nerds, I found John Carpenter's Dark Star (1974) a more entertaining film than 2001, not to mention a hell of a lot funnier and well... less pretentious. But I've always liked seeing what people can do with a handful of dollars rather than a massive budget.

What if I've seen all of them but "Hammer Horror" and "Metropolis"? Does that mean I should lose all my self-respect until I do?

My incredible penchant for smartassness aside I've been recommending Harryhausen, Universal, and Godzilla movies to anyone who will listen for most of my life.

I've seen The Creature from the Black Lagoon, Godzilla, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Psycho, Night of the Living Dead, Planet of the Apes (first one only), Jaws and Logan's Run.

Never seen Soylent Green. Hell I've never even heard of it. I went and watched the trailer.

[begin rant]

Shameful note on one of the recent releases of Planet of The Apes (the first one) on DVD: The cover of the DVD (both the box AND the disc!) features clearly the twist ending!! I realize that most people who bought that movie on DVD had seen it, but c'mon! I did want to show it to my girlfriend (much younger than me) who had not seen the movie and I found myself in the ridiculous position of having to hide the box and the disc from her until she watched the whole thing so it wouldn't be ruined... And whenever I show it to my cousins AFTER they've seen the DVD cover go, of course, "so what? what's the big surprise?" at the end!

How did something like that get past 20th Century Fox's marketing department?!?

Bob,In case you get it wrong:NOBODY will EVER want to watch anything older than planet of apes. At least not anyone born 1990 and on. In addition Space Odyssey totally failed because there was no way to do the effects depicted in the book.
I'll just go unwatch the majority of the movies I've seen, since apparently I will never watch them. Thanks for generalizing me and my entire generation!

Well I can honestly say I knew what Critical Miss was going on about.

Should I be proud or not, meh, who can tell?
