Maybe you should've, I don't know, read the fucking book? Seriously, I don't get you people who just see the movies, of course you're not going to like it, you have no context as to what's going to happen! Jesus Christ.

But also, the 2nd part is going to be the shit. Just saying.
My main complaint is they showed a whole bunch of action scenes in the previews and it did show them in the movie, so its false adverticing.
No it isn't. The point of advertising is to get you to watch something. It did.

So, arguably, the marketing dept did a better job than the rest of the crew (haven't seen the movie, can't comment). Again, that's just good marketing. And all drama movies spice up their trailers with as much yelling and exciting bits as they can show without spoilers, because it's hard to fit quiet introspection or a delicate analysis of the human condition into a two minute trailer.

No surprise considering the last two movies sucked ass from a straw. Still gonna go see it though, cos it might be good this time 'round and cos I have nothing better to do.

I've read the books, but that doesn't mean the movies shouldn't stand up on their own. I mean what if the Shaw Shank Redemption had made no sense unless you'd read the book?

Personally I've enjoyed most of the movies so far, the only ones I haven't at least liked are the first 2, which really don't stand up if your over the age of 12, and the 4th film, which was because it was such a let down from the 3rd which is both the best book and film and it was just shoddy material they were working with. Seriously, the whole massive plot hole with the tri-wizard cup being a port key really let the whole thing down. Wouldn't it have made more sense to turn his shoes or broom stick into a port key rather than lead him though 3 life threatening tasks (he almost died a couple of times) that he had no garantee of winning? I mean seriously, what the fuck?

Can't speak for the new film but I've been hearing very good things about. It's nice to see a big blockbuster movie that takes it's time.

What do you really expect from a part 1? I hate these split movies, its just a bullshit marketing plan to take more money out of your wallet.

I am physically and mentally incapable of liking Harry Potter movies. The books, on retrospect, were okay at best and honestly pretty bland, but I fucking loved them as a kid. Now whenever I see Daniel Radcliffe all I can think of is

It's Harry Potter, not Die Hard.
Considering the trailers and prior movies had action, I'd imagine anyone with pattern recognition.

Have you read the books? Because if you have, you would have known all they do is freaking walk around the woods for 400 pages. They made a good movie based on the material they had to work with, not great, but watchable. And really, they are just setting up the next one.
Thankyou. This right here is basically what I was going to say. When comparing it to the book, this is probably the most accurate film (besides the first one) which is why I was pleased with it. Also, like this guy has said, its only part one. Believe me, if you want a big battle and some decent action wait for part 2.

You were looking for action, really?!
Oh well, never interested in any of Harry Potter stuff.

I liked the film myself, I'm waiting for the moment they sell both films as part of a box set because it ended on a really cool cliffhanger, granted I know the outcome because I read the books but I certainly liked it.

Those there action scenes you saw, they were for the second half of the film, to be released next year. Though there were still some interesting fight scenes in this one too.

stopped caring after the third film

I was a kid when I watched those films, so they stopped being interesting when I grew up a little.

Anyone with any common sense whatsoever wouldn't take any trailer ever made to be an accurate representation of the real thing.

It's a trailer.
Trailers are short, so they naturally pick some of the more exciting parts of the movie to showcase to pique your interest.
It's just so obvious that I'm not even sure what to say without sounding too inflammatory.
Even my technophobic mother know this, and so should you.

Really? Well, for one you should have read the books because this was one of the "closest to the story" movies I have seen. And in all fairness, it was one of the better Potter movies out there. I'd say probably the best.

It's dark and gritty, kind of realizing how most of it's audience are now grown up.

Ever since the third movie, I have been walking away from them unphased. They were all alright, but this one finally hit it home. I'm very excited to see how the end this.

Dude, if you really went to a harry potter movie expecting action, I have to ask...did you read the book? I somehow doubt it...because it was exactly like it.

The movie was great, artistically done, and was exactly what fans deserved after some iffy films in the series. If it had been an action film, it would've been disappointing

because most straight up action films these days suck

but this had action...just it wasnt a majority of the film. It had more action scenes than previous movies, but it was also longer than the others

I was really looking forward to this movie because the previews showed a movie with a lot of action, and fighting scenes in it, and what i saw was a 2 and a half hour drama with light action. I wouldn't complain if they had not adverticed this as the wrong movie so im angry that they lied to me. So who else was dissapointed by this movie.
If someone actually bothered to read the books, they would know what to expect. I did, and I did. It was exactly as it should have been. Not perfect, but nothing ever is.

Trailers sometimes give more than there really is to start, or less there is to start. Deal with it, it's Hollywood.

I wasn't at all. Seemed to keep to the book alright which is only important to an extent with book-movies. The switch between parts 1 and 2 seemed appropriate. It was dark and gloomy and depressing. They're running from someone with tons of people helping him. It's a depressing scenario.

It made sense to me anyway, but as for it being a great movie? I dunno it was alright with a low amount of action for a headliner. More emotion than action isn't bad.

Part 2 is the action packed finale, if you are skeptical, just wait for July and watch them back to back like I'm sure most theaters will do at a (maybe slightly) lowered price.

I'm prepared to be disappointed but it won't hurt me as much as my sister and Dad who'll be seeing it with me. Because unlike them I've read the book and like all the other Harry Potter movies the book is better.
