They understand that Rufus is literally designed not to care about human life right?
OR people's feelings by nature.
This is the man that destroys everything he touches.
The man is beyond foolish and when he isn't he crosses the line numerous times into villain in all but title. (with special note to goodbye on deponia, see the kids, the dolphins and the family he broke up before sold the wife into slavery)
The man is not nice and anything he does that is good is often incidental.
But he gets injured and he does have to think of the things between him and his goals
You see him kicked around, hated and you come to sympathize with him, like an ugly puppy.
The fellow doesn't have malice honestly so they can spew the standard accusations at him but the fellow isn't to my knowledge an actually hateful person
