I love animals (and other small living things) I even go as far as to give them all unique/funny names. I have, two Cats (Abalone and Nathaneial), one Rat (Squeakerat), three Betta Fish (Rose Tyler - Martha Jones - and Captain Jack Harkness), about 5 different plant species (Cole, Phil, Al, Que, and Choe ). And now I'm thinking about getting a bird too.

I'm not a specialist, but I know alot. So it you have any questions feel free to ask me personally!

The escapist seems pretty fond of cats and dogs.

If you watched the vid off the link above, you can see that the leopard can be white with dark spots or dark with light spots. They are very intelligent, and if you hunt they can out scent a bloodhound. Their feet are webbed for swimming if you duck hunt. They watch everything you do and try and imitate it, and use their paws like a cat would. They can climb trees like a cat, I can try and post a link to a pic of one 15 foot up in a tree after a racoon.

Ok, here is a link if you want to see one climbing a tree (15 foot up). The little blue eyed puppy in the upper right is the same full grown dog you see running in the first pic, and is the same dog that is 15 foot up the tree. (grown up).

I've always had at least 2 cats or more in my household all my life, and they are absolutely a joy to live with.. 98% of the time. I have 4 at the moment and they're all adorable, one of them is even turning 15 this year!

Cats don't need a lot of fuss over them. A place to eat, a place to poop and some attention and they're fine company.

.. Save when one is being a little shit and keeps escaping the goddamn cat coop in the backyard, but that's a different story.

Get a Monkey.. for some reason people with monkeys get sooo much action, not by the monkey of course. (even though I really only have one person to form this prototype)

I had a cat... loved him very much. Very affectionate. I still haven't convinced hubbie to get another one since the last 6 months of my cat's life had him having difficulty holding his bladder. I cleaned up after him and even had to clean out the litter box constantly since he had trouble covering his 'offering'. It's been 1½ years since he passed.

My son has a Jack Dempsey Cichlid that I wish would die (without us helping). The damn thing ate all the other fish in the tank and we can't introduce any new fish in the tank. I loathe cleaning that tank out. I even helped the little fucker fish's anxiety by not taking him out of the tank when I cleaned the plants. He thanked me by biting me. Bastard. Now I enjoy netting him and tossing him in a smaller bowl to thoroughly clean the tank.

Go for a rat, they make great pets. They're intelligent, affectionate and playful, and easy to care for. I've known many pet rats, mine and other people's, and every last one had a real personality.

Cats are lame compared to dogs. This is a needless and flamey thing to post in a forum. I apologize for that.

Get a dog; you can wrestle with it and snuggle. Your existence will be better.

Thinking of getting a little animal companion, but not entirely sure which to get.
Any ideas my fellow escspists?

Don't pets just rule?
If you have any,please discuss.
My husband and I want to get a Catahoula puppy. We are on a waiting list right now, the link below takes you to a vid of a Catahoula puppy so you can see what I am talking about.

Catahoula Puppy [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85nJ9LXZgyA]

After watching the vid you can see how smart they are. They come in Leopard spots or Patchwork colors, here is a picture of both. The top two are patchwork and the bottom two are the leopard. A lot of them have blue eyes.

These two are the same dog, one when he was a puppy and the other all grown up.

I've met a number of Catahoulas, and they have all been incredibly hyperactive and very smart. Make sure you take this into account.

Yes they are! We babysat for my sons when he first returned from Iraq, (which is why we now want one). He watched me open the door one time, and within a short while I saw him standing up at the door trying to turn the handle with his paws, just like a cat uses their paws! Very smart. They do have a LOT of energy too, and HAVE to be exercised regularly.

Do this. Cats are low-maintenance to begin with, and if you've got two, they don't freak out when you leave the house. If you adapt from a shelter, they usually come housetrained.

Of our two, one is autistic and one seems to have OCD. The nicknames for them are Rain Man and Monk.

Get a Great Dane. The size of them scares most people away and you can go against all those mother fuckers who are buying the little dogs.

My opinion is to recommend cats. I have two. One is a tomcat and he is scared of everything, he never bites and won't scratch you. The other one is a very hairy cat and she bites and plays.

if you want something which is WTF incarnate get an axolotl (google it), technically they're a critically endangered species but because they breeds so well in captivity you can buy them from a normal pet store and you don't need a license either.

Fish. They don't shit all over the house, they don't do noisy crap all night so you can't sleep and you don't need to feed em meat or anything. Just good ol' fish.
i bought fish once... i had 9... we fed em fine.. but uhh it turns out that the big black one *i am not racist, this is true* had stolen all the food for the other ones and they starved to death and then he ate their bodies....

the point of this story you may ask? dont buy fish that are different.. buy a few of the SAME fish... or at least same size.
It's sad that you feel the need to qualify your statement.

On topic, there's a fish in my room. It's my roommate's but it was too much trouble to move out when I moved in, so the little fucker stayed. He plots to murder me. We hate each other, yet I continue feeding him.

I'd vote two kittens. Gives them someone to play with when you're not around, and they can be a lot of fun when you are. Over the coffee table sneak attacks anyone? Yeah, kittens rule.

I'm a crazy cat lady in training so I say get a kitty :3 They're easy to take care of, smart, funny, and cute. Get a calico because they are the quirkest cats I've ever met. They also are very loyal to their person. They have one person who they "adopt" and never, ever let go of. :3 Meow-meow-meow. Here's mine.

Her name is Fauve and she's a rescue. Always get pets from shelters!!

I have two other cats and three dogs. >_>

Also if you get a dog labs and pit-bulls are my favorite pure breeds but I have a soft spot for mutts.
