You mean people discussing a game on a game forum pissess you off? You poor thing, reality does not rearrange itself to fit your whims.

Of course people are going to obsess about the biggest release, the more people playing something the more it will be discussed. Want conversations not about that game? Try making threads about others! It's not that complicated. If you find an entire site too focused on a single game for your liking, try visiting other sites. It's a big damn internet, and i can guarantee there is a corner where people talk about games without giving a single fuck about Skyrim.

what's even worse is when a game comes out and it turns out those questions *still* don't matter

for example:

what race you like. doesn't matter because they are all basically the same, look a little different especially at lvl 1, but even that changes when they are covered up in gear. replaying a different race just feels the same. yay, i have a +5 bonus to x stat and my hair is different.

same kind of thing w/all the other questions, you get the idea.

I like it when the armour i wear actually makes me slower if its heavier and doesn't just look different and make me take less damage, but actually has a different 'feel' to it.

i like it when the weapon i choose has very different reach & attack speed & associated moves, even w/in the same class (i.e. not just making daggers different from swords different from bows, but making items *within* a class feel different - scimitars different from claymores different from katanas, etc...).

etc. etc.., you get the idea.

You know, I've clicked on two random topics and it's about people complaining about people complaining about Mass Effect 3 XD
Pretty soon it'll be people complaining about complaining about complaining about Mass Effect 3. Whoa, this forum's about to get meta.

OT: if you don't like those discussions then don't read them/participate in them; pretty simple.

Yeah and we call people where you're from retards anyway.
What the hell kind of a thing to say is that? And based on what? What did you hope to gain by insulting tens of millions of people in one go? That offends me, as a native English speaker (note: ENGLISH...but I'm not going to go down that line of argument now)

That's aside from the fact that you only realised he was non-American (oh the horror!) by the fact that he called you out on your ignorance! The sheer pigheadedness is astounding!

Anyway, On topic...I actually agreed with your original post, despite the ridiculous amount of genital references throughout - I'm not really sure why you thought it necessary to make it so...colourful. The most bizarre posts are the ones I see asking "what is the best x/y/z?" days or even weeks before release. How is anyone supposed to know that? Unless you're actually emailing the game developers themselves, then you're unlikely to get a particularly informative answer!

In short...mouth-frothing fanboyism is one of the most antagonising things to see on an internet forum. Of course, obnoxious and rude jingoists like yourself are far worse.

Y'know i'm just gonna pull the "complainception" card before someone else does it...

Annnnnd On Topic now. I don't mind those types of really similar threads but I will say there will be a ton more of ME3/Bioware related threads over the next few months. It's DA2 all over again... Unfortunately. I have a feeling the OP will be in a seething rage the whole time.

Hell I might go and start a UMVC3 thread just to change things up. Haven't seen one in a while.

The ME3 threads are getting a bit redundant for the moment, it's not even out yet and only so much conjecture and half truths can be thown about before everyone starts repeating themselves. Wait 'til it's out before you start lobbing infinite theads at us.

You're not only complaining about something that's not even happening to the extent you're saying.[/quote]

Yeah mark my words wait until Mass Effect 3 officially hits the shelves. See if you'll be able to find any other topic NOT Mass Effect 3 related. Don't worry this just the beginning.....

So what's your point? This is a video game discussion forum. When a major release drops, it stands to reason that people will discuss it. If you, personally, don't happen to care for that release in particular, well, that's just too bad. Sorry, you're not the be-all-end-all of forum dynamics.

You might try making topics on games you do want to discuss, because making topics like these really doesn't accomplish much except making you come off somewhat immature.

tl;dr
You're coming off like this, you may want to work on it.

Stay classy Wandering_demon88, stay classy...

I mean, I originally agreed with your point, but then I realised the sort of person I'd agree with, and now I've completely changed sides. No loss for you I'd expect; I'm British and therefore retarded according to you.

Then make some. Go on, right now. Pick your favourite game and make a thread on it. Nothing is stopping you, and you might even get a few responses.

Try not to insult people for talking about what they want to talk about and much less incorrectly trying to correct someone's spelling and going all racist when you realise he's right.

It doesn't make you come across as a particularly fair or pleasant person.

OT: It does get annoying when someone forgets to use the search bar, true. But create some content, discuss some aspect of a game that you like, if general conversation with other people about their experiences irritates you then just dont talk to people.

Everyone's a winner.

EDIT: messed up the misquoted quote

Well this thread descended into shit faster than I was expecting.

OT - Yeah it's annoying, but better to just ignore it rather than add to the issue.

That made me laugh so much.

OT: Holy shit! People are going to be talking about a newly released game on a gaming forum? What has happened to the world?! Seriously, it happened with Mass Effect 2, it happened with Skyrim, it will happen with Mass Effect 3. It's a gaming forum, it's to be expected. If you don't want to see everyone talking about a big new release don't come to the site, it's as simple as that. Not that it matters, looking back at some of your other posts on this thread, if you keep acting like that you won't be here much longer anyway.

So people are talking about a topic relative to the moment and that they are excited about and you don't like that by you're logic then we should never talk because when do you ever talk about something you don't have an interest in and isn't relevant at the time and nobody is forcing you to read these posts so don't click on them.

There seem to be two main points in this thread.

The point about how it's annoying when the forum gets flooded with topics about a single game whenever a big game his the shelves is very valid. Not really a new complaint but yeah, safe to say everyone feels like that at some point.

The "who cares" part of your complaint though... this is (supposed to be) a community. That's what people in a community do, talk about shit they like. Seriously, all six of those "who cares?" questions are things I would talk about with my meatspace friends. We would also talk about less shallow topics, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy going:

"Holy shit dude isn't Skyrim awesome!? What are playing as!? Yeah, that's awesome, I'm playing as . Have you done yet? No? Dude, you gotta do , it's cool as shit!"

Talking about the little things as well as the bigger things is part of sharing the experience. And that's what having a community of gamers is about.

1) What's you favorite race/class to use in ToR?
Sith, fuck the republic

2) What's your favorite weapon to use in ToR?
Light Sabers, though the Wrist mounted Rocket Launcher the Bounty Hunter has is pretty sweet to

3)What's your favorite armor type in ToR?
Heavy Armor when i can use it, even my Bounty Hunter is a brick wall with that stuff

4) Are you going to buy ToR?
don't have to :D my friends love me enough to get it for me :D

5) What do really like to do in ToR?
seeing the new worlds, and for those who donno, Tatooine is REALLY fucking boring

6) Do you like playing the Light or Dark side in ToR?
depends on what i wanna do with the character, my main, a Sith Marauder (who is also Sith in race to), is actually going Light side, where as my Assassins, are, total and complete bitches, or cunts, use which ever is the stronger insult in your area, my Bounty Hunter is 'professional' in how she handles her contracts.
side note: yeah, i get you where complaining about ME 3 related BS, :) but since there's already to much ME3 related crap, i changed it to something more interesting

I tend to stay away from those posts, in the end I don't care what other people's favorite ______ are and I'd be worried if someone cared about what type of ______ I like to use. Yeah both of the above mentioned games are popular, but until a programmer or artist from the game itself comes onto the Escapist I don't see any worthwhile content being posted around here.

This may be a bit hypocritical of me though, I know the instant I see a thread on a game I'm interested in (like Neptunia MK2 or a new .Hack game) I'd be right there posting about my favorite character or story path.
