The PS3 is looking pretty good

I have an Xbox 360, and ever since they came out with Vista on the Xbox (aka NXE), I have hated the dashboard and most of the things the xbox does outside of playing games and having all my friends on it. Rumors of Live price going up, ads everywhere even though I pay for the service, a marketplace organized by a blind walmart greeter, Microsoft update delays (MW2 comes to mind), and a list of other things add to my annoyance. The PS3 has a sleek dashboard, a very well organized store, and the things it DOES, CAN do, and WILL do will outperform the 360 in the coming years.

This is not a flame of either system. What do you console owners think?

Never owned a 360, red ring put me off it. Plus I can live without Halo, and gears of war came out on pc anyway.

Do not own 360 but basically because you have to pay for Xbox live while PS3 online is free and that's why I own it.

I love my PC best. But I also love my Xbox.

My PS3 is like a casual friend.

I could do without the avatars and whatnot, but Xbox live is still where the best online gaming is for consoles. Plus, the Xbox 360's controller is, in my opinion, the best one ever designed.

My sister has an Xbox, so I play it when I'm home. It's not as bad as people (including me) make it out to be, but it certainly annoys me.

I've never played a PS3, but from what I've read, seen and heard it seems to be the superior machine - for me, at least. It really does come down to the individual player. I prefer singleplayer games, I don't care about achievements or online extras and I want something that will play DVDs and won't die easily; so the PS3 really stands out for me.

I've been playing PC a lot more recently, but my Box has a special place in my heart.

I wanted to get a PS3 for Christmas, but my fellow Escapists convinced me it wasn't the right thing to do.

You care that much about a simple dashboard? Get over it and use the thing for what it's actually meant for: Games. Go out, buy a game, put it in, and play it.

That said, I do want a PS3 for there are plenty of games on it (or coming out for it) that I quite want to play.

Is it true that the Ps3 can run Ubuntu? If so, how does that work? Because that seems neat, not using Microsoft products.

Xbox interface seems servicable, though. I don't see the problem, but then again I only play single-player games offline and keep my music and such elsewhere.

I have a PS3 and 360 and although I play my PS3 alot more, I definitely agree that Xbox Live is better than Playstation Network. I actually prefer the PS3 controller though.

It also seems to me that where the 360 seems to have been maxxed out by developers, the PS3 games keep getting more and more impressive (at least from a technical standpoint)

I don't own a 360, and have never really felt the need to. That said, there are a few games that have caught my eye now and then. I'm very intrigued by Alan Wake, but I can't guarantee it will be a system seller for me. For now, I'm quite content with my PS3.

I think the opposite, I fucking hate the PS3 interface, it's so damn complicated and nearly impossible to find somple functions. I swear it took me weeks just to fucking find how to delete messages from my inbox. Also I never found out how to remove my PSN email and User name so yeah.

As for games though I think both systems are on par with each other.

Sounds stupid but i want every console you can get no matter how stupid some people think certain ones are. There are a wide range of games for each console and your bound to find one or two to keep you hooked. Yes each console has features that another doesnt which then attracts you to it, but for me its all about the games.

What? The fact that the manual doesn't tell you any of that stuff and neither does the internet even when searching it on google? Yeah pretty fucking sad.
