I prefer the Riddler as a good guy, running his P.I. business. I just want to know why he started as a criminal as opposed to beating the 'world's greatest detective' by being a better detective...

More Riddler puzzles, eh? A few of the Riddler puzzles were annoying to figure out, at first. It took me forever to figure out to line up the green lines to form question marks. Once I did, though, they were pretty easy. Here's looking forward to a few more puzzles.

I'm shitting my pants waiting for this game! Either this or Skyrim will be GOTY imo.
Uncharted 3 would disagree.
Didn't at least one award show award Arkham Asylum Game of the Year? Though Uncharted 2 won most of them I think. Honestly, I don't care what game wins GOTY. I just care what games I like. And I liked both Uncharted 2 and Arkham Asylum. So, long story short: We all win!

Everyone except Wii Owners wins. Yaaaaaay.

Of course, there's also Deus Ex Human Revolution. Yay again.
Well, they already lost because they own a Wii. /joke
[sub]Sorry, Wii owners, I couldn't resist.[/sub]

Isn't Arkham City supposed to be released on the Wii U as well as the 360 and PS3? Um, whenever that comes out...

Oh, yeah, Human Revolution looks pretty good, too. So many good games are coming out soon. It's a good time to be a gamer.

At least this time the Riddler asks riddles or at least questions. Last time he just made a bunch of declarative statements that were implied to be instructions.

Man cant wait for this appearance

He was just an annoying guy in the first game now he looks like a badass criminal mastermind, cant wait.
As much as I loved the Riddler in the first game (his arrogance and clever wit made me chuckle at times), I agree with this post. I always thought the Riddler was sort of a joke villain, but it's nice to see someone take him seriously.

I loved the Riddler's portrayal in Hush so I am all for what Rocksteady is doing with him.

Really, that whole thing could be a separate game in and of itself. Like a more threatening, yet campy, Jigsaw killer.

He's like a regular criminal only his power is that he's easier to catch!

the horror!

This looks like a good idea from RS tbh. Excited for Arkham City :3

I much preferred Riddler when he was a reformed criminal-turned private detective in the comics. Then Tony Daniel fucked it all up by bumping him on the head.

Cool trailer, and I, too, thought of Jigsaw when I watched it. Though, Jigsaw ain't got nothing on original article, in my opinion.

I've always loved and hated the riddler. He's such a stupid idea. Ya know how he could thwart batman? But not leaving intentional damn clues all over the place.
It's so self-defeating, stupid, arrogant, and did i say stupid.

It's so much like a real criminal it hurts.
It because Riddler is crazy:
"You don't understand... I really didn't want to leave you any clues. I really planned never to go back to Arkham Asylum. But I left you a clue anyway. So I... I have to go back there. Because I might need help. I... I might actually be crazy."

Aw, yes. Excellent. I'd always thought The Riddler was an undervalued villain.

And for those pointing out the Saw aspects: I'd say there's a key difference from what we see on the trailer. Batman's being challenged to save others by solving the riddles, not themselves. That's crucial. The Riddler should never kill the person he's riddling. He's driven by an obsessive need to prove his intelligence over others. Killing them defeats that purpose: He wants them to know they're inferior to him. He wants them to live with that. And what greater prize than the World's Greatest Detective?
I actually adore Riddler as a detective.

He was awesome, quirky and fast.

Also, the fact that he was on a chatroom with batman and detective chimp will always make me laugh.

Though to be fair, didn't he get that way by being bump in the head in the first place?

Dosen't changed the fact, but still.

If they haven't announced in the DC Universe reboot yet, I totally support rebooting his backstory as a police detective gone bad, ala Harvey Dent (but police instead of DA). The idea of him being a great police detective because he's too damn stubborn to let them 'win' seems very fitting, and to me it's got a bit more bite than the current storyline. That said, I'm more than happy to be informed I'm off base. I'm a dabbler in DC continuity at best. Where's Movie Bob when you need him?

My initial experience with Batman Mythos was the Animated Series from the 90's. Besides a magnificent Joker and Two-Face, the series also boasted a delightfully low key Riddler. Every single villian in the series was captured by Batman on multiple occasions. Everyone, but the Riddler that is. He was cool, calm, and consistently one step ahead of Mr. Wayne. It was always a special treat when I'd turn on the show after school (read high school here, I was a fullblown geek early on) and see that Batman's foil for the episode was the man with the green bowler hat.

The Riddler's had a long, diverse history with DC comics and has varied between appearing as a joke of a criminal to a sinister mastermind (feel free to read Batman: Hush for a great example of the latter).
Dude! Spoilers?! :p

And I'm not so sure I like the Saw-thing they're trying here. I hate Saw.

Posted by facebook brah Claude Oliver - props to him:

"There are actually riddles in this trailer o_O.

stop the trailer and take the words to form a sentence:

Ridd(9)le m(1)e t(13)his wh(2)at doe(5)s i(20)t t(20)ake t(5)o Kee(18)p a(20) Shar(8)p pup(1)pet o(14)n (25)a Str(15)ange str(21)ing?
...
I did it a few times and if you have that sentence you can actually take the numbers and read them as letters to form another sentence:

9 1 13 2 5 20 20 5 18 20 8 1 14 25 15 21.

I am better than you."
