The best of batman's villains are personifications of some kind of mental disorder, or character flaw. The Riddler is the personification of narcissism. He doesn't only want to be the best, he wants, needs everyone to know that he's the best. He doesn't want to be caught, but his narcissism demands it, and he leaves riddles so he can be found, and he wants people to appreciate how brilliant he is for all his machinations.Koios said:I prefer the Riddler as a good guy, running his P.I. business. I just want to know why he started as a criminal as opposed to beating the 'world's greatest detective' by being a better detective...
I wasn't aware of that, but upon researching it, the initial bump on the head only removed his obsessive-compulsive behavior. Tony Daniel is just a monkey at the typewriter, and draws Riddler to look a hell of a lot like Mad Thinker (in my opinion, anyway).Dr. wonderful said:Though to be fair, didn't he get that way by being bump in the head in the first place?Jbird said:I much preferred Riddler when he was a reformed criminal-turned private detective in the comics. Then Tony Daniel fucked it all up by bumping him on the head.
.
Dosen't changed the fact, but still.
Pops into my head every time i hear/read the word "riddle"scarab7 said:First thought that came to mind when he started talking about being smarter then a bat "Riddle me this and riddle me that, do you really know the mind of bat?" Anyone else?
