Meh, I still say they were much funnier back in the 90s, they did satire properly opposed to this which is like, "lets take real stuff and give it a silly name" which I never found funny on any show. Proper satire is done with the real thing but a huge lack of context.

Uhhh, can someone explain that Assassin's Creed picture?
I really don't get it and while part of me doesn't want to, it's gonna get on my nerves all day so I must know
The name 'Assassin' originated from the Arabic word 'Hashishin'. Hashishin meant, roughly, 'Users of Hashish'.

Basically they're using the name of the game as 'Druggie Creed'. Hence the Hippie.

Edit: Wow. Something I learned in school actually managed to be useful. Never thought I'd live to see the day.

Edit 2: Is it legal for them to use the actual name 'Assassin's Creed', though? Usually to evade copyright laws, the name has to be changed somewhat. (Like Guts of War for God of War)

That Assassin's Creed looks more interesting than the actual upcoming one. I'd play it.

I gota good chuckle when I saw the E4 skit. got a bit more of one when I saw the cross games.

Although the marching band study portion of the game sounds like a good desert bus style game.

It's a shame that in the same episode they seemed to get confused between arcade and newer games. A bit afterwards, Homer goes into videogame mode in a first-person point-of-view style in order to get the kids into the Funtendo announcement. So when he's punched the screen goes red round the edges a la Call of Duty, but at the same time he has a health bar and has to eat to get back his health...

If you are going to compare it to other animated shows, then you are forgetting Archer, which remains the funniest animated (hell, maybe the funniest full stop) thing on TV.

Am I the only one wondering if Marching Band could actually revive the dead rhythm game genre?

*waits for people to send me the Critical Miss comic in response to this question*

It's set in the 60s and he's dressed as a hippie. The hippie message - make love not war - doesn't really mesh with the whole assassin thing, hashish notwithstanding.
That made me lol. Finally, knowing otherwise useless trivia pays off.

Just let the Simpsons die, Fox, it's cruel to keep them on life support this long.

That is a MUCH smarter joke than it looked like, in that case.

Saw them, the jokes are pretty flat IMO. You might have seen similar stuff done on online forums 3-4 years ago.
This is exactly why I have problems with "parody" as a part of mainstream culture. It seems like a thing that just doesn't need to exist at all anymore in the Internet age. Whether it's coming from The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, a Seltzer and Friedberg movie, Mad Magazine, or Weird Al, all the best jokes have already been made and played out on the Internet by the time you can get your thing released. The only thing they really have going for them (except Seltzer and Friedberg movies), besides on rare occasions having better jokes than the ones the Internet came up with, is the prestige that supposedly comes from getting parodied by something as mainstream as they are.

Saw the episode, thought it was hilarious when Bart finished "Guts of War" in 20 seconds. Developer goes on to say that his marriage failed because he was working so hard on it and never met his children. Bart replies "Well tell them your game is too easy". Almost as if it's parodying the lowered difficulty of a lot of modern games.

The Simpsons WERE funny. But I guess after 25 seasons (Damn, has it really been that long?), you can't blame them for running out of jokes. See, South Park's advantage is that it draws its strength directly from current news, like the WoW episode or the Tiger Woods one. It's current, it's fresh and it's so cynical. Family Guy is also crude and bold, compared to The Simpsons, and I guess it's more popular because that's the kind of humor people like now (I still remembered when The Simpsons were considered 'cartoons for grown-ups, where the most obscene thing ever was watching Homer and Marge literally sleeping together with no clothes on).

At this point, I would like to have a final The Simpsons season. The series is running low on fuel; might as well end it now before it ends up disgracing itself and while we all still have fond memories of it.

PS: Yeah, I also don't get the whole Assassin's Creed bit. From afar, I thought it said Assassin's Greed, and then I saw a hippie so I clicked. Then I clicked on the image and it said Assassin's Creed...just like the original game. So why not change the name? Hey, what made those other spoofs funny wasn't the context, but the fact that they changed the name because you could easily guess the original game. But uhh..yeah, that one just seems weird.
