Why is this happening? Seriously it says "after recent events", what events?
This is information I too, would like to know.
Well, this thread is full of them. But to make it short, Obscurus Lupa dug up Spoony's rape joke that he made on Twitter to JesuOtaku. Then Spoony started getting angry again. Also, Spoony apparently unintentionally prevented LordKat from getting an interview with the X-Com team because of Spoony's "BETRAYAL" thingy.
Wow... Maybe I don't watch Spoony enough, but he doesn't seem like the type to go so far as to make a rape joke about another person.
He has, in the past. His "Spooning with Spoony" videos were both all about raping his coworkers at TGWTG. Of course, they all participated in the videos as well. And guess who one of those people was? Lupa.

If thats the case we may end up seeing a nice change when Doug returns. By that i mean a few abusive producers fired, an abusive HR rep fired, & Spoony rehired. Course that's all if this is true. Frankly i would have to say most of it is. Took some doing but the twitter feeds(blasted hellscape though they be) points to wrongdoing by Lupa for whatever reason. Seeing as she started this war with a comment about a joke from a while back & now is now acting like she never commented on it, this Looks bad.
While it does seem like more people may end up getting the axe as a result of this, I doubt Noah will be rehired anytime soon. He's been acting unstable for a long time and even though he is still quite genuinely funny, until he gets his personal problems sorted out, he's probably too much of a liability for TGWTG to pick him back up.

i was under the impression that lordkat was constantly in risk of being shut down, with all those copyright complaints and the like anyways.
I can't say it would particularly surprise me if that's the case, but I wouldn't know.

Wow. 0_o

These guys all need to just calm down, take a step back, and realise how bloody stupid the lot of them are acting.

Is all this bitching and infighting really going to benefit anyone in the end? no.

Why can't people just kiss and makeup already!

Oh wait I forgot. This is the internet...

I like the stuff these guys make, and honestly if they can't get along on a personal level then they should at least make the effort to get along professionally.
They chose to jump down the rabbit hole, so they better start acting somewhat responsibly.

Some professionalism would be nice right about now...

As for Spoony? Good luck to the guy. I hope he gets better, and I hope he gets back to what he does best, but if it IS too much for him, then I hope he does himself a favour and quit the lot.

Close the book. Re-settle himself, then if he wants to, start again.

Frankly who do you think he's gonna believe, the HR rep he's had from day 1 or the guy who's currently raging at anyone and everyone (even if he was pushed to go into that state of rage).

Doug is a busy man, I doubt he'll have the time to look into this as far and deep as he probably should, hell many of the reviewers on the site have said they don't know all the details of how the situation got to it's current state and none of them were on vacation when it happened.

To tell the truth, I doubt anything will change once Doug gets involved.

Making absolutely no comments regarding the specific situation, making no judgements against Scarlett, Spoony, Lupa, LordKat or anyone else involved even tertiarily in this confrontation, I'm not overly surprised.

Spoony has been in a downward spiral for a while now. He's already been confirmed to be depressive, and I know from personal experience just how dangerous it can be when you start to fall into a real depressive episode.

He needs therapy, genuine real professional therapy. And in terms of his reviewing, I really don't think he should be reviewing until he's back on course. In terms of his artnership with That Guy With the Glasses, as I said above I'll make no statements about this problem, but I do think that in the general scheme of things, it's probably for the best that the partnership is suspended while he pulls himself together, whichever way he does it.

As expected of the escapist.

A guy that stalks a woman for a year is a-ok.
The woman is blamed for causing him pain when she flirts with people not him 1 year after the break-up. After all, women need to be 100% chaste after they break up with a guy, even one year later.
And other women who don't like rape jokes and dislike stalking ...are also evil, and just want attention/white knighting. But a guy stalking someone is totally fine!

Typical, really. Again, the escapist shows how deep it's stuck in the slimy echo-chamber of dudebro "culture".

LordKat can screw off, though. That was a jackassy thing to say. Thing is: The guy hates Spoony, he'd have used anything to attack him, mostly because Spoony was an idiot at a E3 and ruined LordKat's interview chance. That, dear LordKat, doesn't make oky what you said.

Hope he loses his show, just like Spoony should lose his :)
Your onesentence opinion aside. What purpose did insulting everyone on the escapist serve? To vent? To bait moderators into giving you a warning? Im just curious. You act like those copypasta anti-feminist trolls on Memebase trying to make the fairer gender appear in a negative light.

*Goes onto community*

*Generalizes everyone as mysogonist*

*Insults everyone*

*Leaves*

If anyone wants to see LordKaT do a Spoony rant here you go: http://www.twitch.tv/lordkat/b/322255491 (Spoony stuff starts at around 36mins)
Could you specify in which video? All I'm getting is an overview of LordKaT made stuff.

OT: Well, I don't know what exactly was going down, but I enjoy Spoony's videos for what they are. He's got one of the websites I check regularly and always enjoy seeing new content. Even his bad stuff is better than most shows on the Internet, including TGWTG. I used to be a big fan in their early days, now I'm skipping most of the videos on the site. Some people's segment has become too stale for my taste.

And could it be that the parties parted ways after filming the next Anniversary Special? Should be coming to TGWTG, soon.
Apologies, it would seem that LordKaT removed the video. I suppose it got too controversial, the guy was seriously railing off on Spoony. He also apparently broke a terms of agreement with TGWTG by revealing why he left the site (it essentially because Spoony almost destroyed his career during a past E3 convention).

I honestly think he might get more than enough messages that he will take the time to look into it himself. Also, Brown has been with them since 2010, the company was founded in 08, & she was promoted to her current position fall of 2010 having worked there since the summer of that year. While Spoony has been with TGWG since 2008.

Whos he going to believe? The guy that helped found the company & is known to be in need of actual crazy pills or the HR rep thats siding in feuds between producers & fired one of the top(and oldest) producers?
Yeah this is a really unfortunate situation. Ideally I think Doug should let Spoony come back on the condition he take a three to six month leave of absence and surrender his twitter account. Also I don't know why everyone keeps bringing up E3. AngryJoe and JewWario had no trouble getting interviews.

Maybe the drop in cash flow will encourage Spoony to stop moping around and get off (or on) his ass and make some videos in a timely fashion.

If Brad Jones can come out with a snob episode every week and still have time for midnight showings, 80's Dan, writing/staring/directing movies, Ninja The mission Force, and is preparing for an animated series than I think Spoony can come out with 2 episodes a month.

Dude, depression (ACTUAL depression) isn't something you just shrug off and get on with your work after. Have you been paying attention to ANY of the crap that Spoony has been through over the past year and a half? The guy needs some time to recover, not push himself into a wall to satisfy his demanding fans.

Ya know what the sad thing is? I wish this was all a very elaborate storyline. It would be the most interesting thing to happen to Channel Awesome since... ever.

As someone else pointed out, Hope Chapman (JesuOtaku) had literally nothing to say about this WHEN IT HAPPENED
Stop right there, please.

Ms. Chapman had nothing to say about it in public. Unless you are privy to information I am not (and maybe you are; maybe you're her boyfriend under a strange handle for this site's forums), you have no way of knowing she had nothing at all to say about it.

KrabbiPatty said:
and she was the one who SHOULD have been offended.
Mr. Antwiler said a reasonably despicable thing in public. The person he was not speaking to did not publicly display offense; so what? What obligates anyone else to mimic her? Why is it somehow unfair or untoward for others to have their own opinions about things?

I especially love the part where she makes herself out to be a victim after basically admitting that she is responsible for the break-up.
"Responsible?" What, she owes it to him to stay with him if she's unhappy?

It won't change anything structurally, but he sure as shit isn't going to be happy. And should it come to light that this really was all a powerplay/collaboration between Lupa and the HR rep, you bet that HR rep is going to probably get shoved down in terms of power, who knows maybe a buyout facebook style. You have to remember both Doug and his brother have a huge stake in channel awesome, they get a very hefty cut from the revenue generated from the site, and to not only lose a huge puller like Spoony, but to have Lupa/Phelous possibly leave too under the HR's watch isn't going to make things pleasant at all. Hell, if I was running a company and one of my friends who I employed screwed the pooch this bad, you'd bet I sure as hell would dock their pay or downgrade them and give someone else their position.

Even the neutral CA members know there is a shit-storm waiting for Doug and Rob when they get back.

For number 2, this is the situation as I understand it. Apparently, the developers of XCom got upset over Spoony's "BETRAYAL!" rant, and understandably so. As a result, due to LK's close association to Spoony, they turned down LK's request for an interview, something that apparently still pisses him off.
Really? Cause Spoony and Angry Joe interviewed those guys, and they didn't mind either of them being there.

It was a different XCom game. There's the FPS XCom and the strategy game XCom: Enemy Unknown.

Guys, last thing I'll say, we're over the rape joke. That was not the issue. If you've seen his twitter, you'll know exactly what happened.

So basically Lupa gave Spoony enough rope and let him hang himself with it. Certainly seems rather manipulative. Rather thankful I've never watched any of this jerks videos.

I have a question.

What was the reaction from the TGWTG crew to Lupa bringing up something completely irrelevant way in the past, to someone that is obviously struggling with serious mental issues, just to kick him when he's down (and obviously push him over his limits)? Regardless of how Spoony behaved after he was poked, prodded and bullied into losing control, surely that kind of behavior is considered a pretty reprehensible thing to do?
I have no idea on that. I know a lot of people (not producers) have called her out on doing that though, with varying levels of maturity in the response.

Nobody is in the right here apart from people like Linkara trying to be the voice of reason and those smart enough to ignore/not get involved all together (eg CR and Todd In The Shadows). Spoony is on of my favorite reviewers but even still the way he is going about this is absolutely ludicrous he has made his life now worse then it already was, I am not a fan of Obscurus Lupa at all (neither Phelous for that matter) and am absolutely disgusted that she is trying to attack him when he is possibly in one of the worst stages of his life at the moment. Although Spoony is not definitely not in the right I still feel like I should support him just because he needs it, what does Alison need? Absolutely nothing unless she redeems herself.
