The Strongest Alcohol You've Tried

Don't drink much, but I have to say that my favorite high proof alcohol is Tequila.

Try Mezcal and Sotol then, both very similar to Tequila and very good. Oh, and Everclear taste like getting hit by a freight train.

And Everclear doesn't sound fun at all. More than 3 shots and you're gone, I'd imagine. Can't shoot it straight. What the hell, humanity?!

Isn't 175 the highest on that scale, equaling 100% alcohol volume? I don't know that system very well, I always use %.

Absinthe has what like 75% or so? I tried that. I also tried Stroh Rum wihich had 80% I think.

Whiskey is still the king at around 40-50% though.

Take the proof divide it by two and you get the percentage of alcohol.

and my personal favorite is tequila which is generally about 80 proof or 40% alcohol by volume.

Edit: Oh, and I've had Mezcal and Sotol as well. Both are made down in the Chihuahua desert (Mexico/West Texas) from cacti. After drinking Sotol I literally thought I had seen God. I've got some pretty damn interesting stories about Mezcal as well, like when my friend thought he'd gone blind.

I shot it straight on two separate occasions. The first, I need some courage, and something to take my mind off of why I was about to break out in a dead sprint because I thought I was about to be killed (see reference the Austin Texas Story) and the second occasion was stark trickery by a friend.

Absinthe, I'd guess. My brothers father in law has also brewed some moonshine himself, which I've drunk on multiple occations. I'd wager around the same percentage as Absinthe... Maybe a little stronger.

It's fun to set shit on fire and then drink it, though. Huge recommendation!

Also, Ouzo isn't vodka, is it? I can't tell you exactly what it is, but it's definitely not vodka.

Not sure on a taste, I'm pretty sure it removes the taste buds. Back when I used to drink I actually preferred tequila and Mezcal (mezcal is the one with the worm).

I heard somewhere that drinking a shot o' that with the worm is supposed to make you trip out something. Is there any truth to that?

I had some Rum that was at 76% alcohol level. Man it was like drinking metholated spirits, it knocked me around a bit, me and some friends had about 3-4 shots for pre-drinks before going out for 'International speak like a pirate day', we thought we better have a real pirates drink before we left, and man it was good, I wanted more but my level headed friend stopped us from having any more. Strongest I've had is Bacardi 151; on a side note, it tastes strikingly like cheap-ass gasoline.

The crappiest I have ever had was not Bacardi though. I was at an anime convention/LAN party with a few friends and we were all a bit light on cash. Long story short, we wound up with a bottle of Montezuma's Revenge (jokingly called "Gold Label" by the company that makes it). We wound up play "Who Puke Last!" with it. Ughuhuhuhu.....

Although, it didn't have a label on it, I did have slivoviz. Aged ten years and straight from the warzone of the former Yugoslavia, given to my brother in law as part of a UN fuel deal that took place in a mafia stronghold in a basement bar in Sarajevo!

A couple of them was enough to drop you right back into your sofa and not move again for a bit!
