Being that the Escapist is such a large pool of what i would consider intelligent posters and people from more than one or two countries, i would love to hear what there is to say about all things supernatural.

From ghosts, hauntings and poltergeists to NDE's, cryptozoology and UFO's.

Personally, i feel that the supernatural is something that isn't supposed to happen but it does happen.

White Zombie references aside, my belief is that while many occurrences can be explained either by science of by recreating the scene, there are just some things that defy belief, that some things may never be able to explain. I also believe that some things, like Bigfoot and Nessie are grand, elaborate hoaxes.

BTW, i did perform a search and the last thread on this subject was asking for personal experience stories, those are welcome too, but arent the focus of this thread.

Haunting and UFOs are a hard one for me to just shove off as not real. They sound far fetched but there are a shit ton of sightings all the time, all over the world. So I guess I just don't know what to think. I really would like to experience a haunting if they are real and I think I've actually saw a UFO. Maybe it mas just a green comet or I just was out of it? lol

I have no reason to believe in the supernatural, but there are so many stories from people who claim to have seen it that my non-belief is wavering slightly.

I think a lot of hauntings can be explained. If you are told some house is haunted, and go there at night, with the intention of experiencing something supernatural, you just might. The environment, coupled with your expectations, along with every subconscious emotion and involuntary psychological functions will cause every thing within that house to be interpreted differently.

Now, the ones that occur in your own house, or in a familiar area where you would never expect to experience such things are the ones that challenge my understanding of the subject.

Even though I could deny it, i do feel there is more to it than magnetic fields and dirt on a lens, when it comes down to it. I've yet to see anything (that isn't fake), but I won't deny it when i see it.

What you saw may have been a bright meteor commonly known as a fireball.

Now, don't be calling it a UFO, your gonna start a conspiracy.

Yeah that's how I think of it. It's a hard thing to speculate on.

I can't believe in the supernatural because I'd be too terrified to live in the world if all that messed up stuff was true.

No, but, really. I think the human mind is far more interesting than anything it conjures up. We should stop worrying that there's something else and concentrate on working out just what it is in our crazy, amazing brains that makes us think there is.

My friend says he seen a ghost before. He said he seen a women come into his room sit down and they had a talk about how is step dad is a good person and just means well. He later found out the ghost was his step dads dead mother whom died before his step dad ever met my friend. He also described her exactly without ever seeing a photo of her. spooky!!! 0.o

I trust my friend and don't think he would lie about such a thing. So he has sort of change my perspective on this matter but until i experience it i won't believe in it.

Isn't this kinda similar to that "disturbing lack of spirituality thread"?

Anyway, nope because I have no reason to believe in any of it.

If something supernatural existed, it would become natural. At a theoretical level, if something doesn't apply to our theories of nature and is real, then our theories of nature are flawed.

Definition stuff aside, I really don't think most of these currently-defined-as-supernatural stuff are real. Except for UFOs, since they are unidentified flying objects. Hell, my shoe could be a UFO. And life outside of earth, but they probably arent small green or gray guys with big heads.

That's why I said "I think" and suggesting it was a comet. I'm not super knowledgeable about that stuff but it most likely was just a fireball like you said.

UFO's are complete BS for me. Little men from ONE THOUSAND LIGHT YEARS AWAY did not come here to see the inside of a mans behind. Im sorry its just retarded. If they can feasibly travel one thousand light years from our nearest star alpha centuri then they have better things to do than skulk around. Im guessing an independence day scenario. People who claim these stories are delusional and attention seeking.

Ghosts and spirits are another matter. I sit on the fence here, but then again people have a natural fear of the dead, the dark and anything old and sad. Peoples minds can do a lot of weird things to the way you percieve things (look at some of your weirdest dreams) so im betting 99% if not all of these are honest acounts but simple phycological imaginings. For example if you go into an empty castle and thing "I AM GOING TO SEE A GHOST" your mind will exaggerate the sounds and sights to fit this self assuridness. After i saw paranormal i could swear there was a deamon in my house because my mind "wanted one to be there". It was what i was expecting.

I don't believe in supernatural stuff, because more often then not those "sightings" can be explained by far simpler explanations.

And in the cases that they cannot, it's just a matter of time.
If there really were ghosts, aliens on our planet, or magical unicorns, we would have found them by now.

UFO's aren't supernatural. It would be weird if there WASN'T aliens somewhere. Although I still believe that all these sightings aren't real.

Other than that I don't believe in ghosts and such.

Trust me, things like that aren't lies. That story has happened to me, give or take a few details.

I'm willing to beleive that many supernatural myths and happennings are real, but before saying anything for sure I would love to get some footage of these creatures/apparritions that isnt completely distorted or being filmed with a shakier hand than a parkinsons sufferer on a teacup ride.

Personally I keep an open mind, I never say it's impossible that there are aliens and nor would I say it's impossible that there are ghosts
