HI!
My recent adventures have led me to want an alienware laptop, and well... to get one I need a job... which is not easy to find. But on the bright side, my parents give me a 25$ a week allounce, just for vacuming and cleaning the bathroom and sweeping... But however I want to get one soon, like as a birthday present. So I am saving all of it up for the next 18 weeks to get a bit over 50% of it paid for, and my parents will throw in 100 on my birthday. and from money from friends/ family, I can get it, but nothing I would want to come with it... So I have devised the following plan to get some extra money for games/ an optical drive

My mom give me 3 bucks a day for lunch, I buy the lunch (2.25) and usually get a fruit roll up (.75) for lunch... BUT!

If I just cut out the fruit roll up for 3-4 days, I can save up to 50$!!! in quarters...
But however, if I just cut out lunch completely and just take a granola bar or something to school for lunch for 1-2 days a week, I can save up to 90$!!!

So yeah, thats my weird way. HOW 'BOUT YOU? what weird things do you do to save money?

I do not recommend Alienware. They're overpriced and not all that great.
Get a nice Toshiba. Better laptop, cheaper than the fancy brand.

OT: To save money on music, I buy almost no CDs, and no MP3s. Since most of my listening is at home, I simply bring up a youtube video of the song and listen to that.

Also, I use Steam to get a lot of games now, which is way cheaper than buying the console version.

Morrowind on Xbox? Memories and fun whenever I get to play my old Xbox.

Morrowind on PC? Mods galore! More hours spent with mods = less money spent on other games.

In the month of January I only spent $26 on games or so.

MGS3 and Minecraft.
Technically, I could just play those and last myself a long time.

I wish I got allowance when I lived with my folks :( I suppose the main way I try to save money is by carpooling with co-workers when I can, it saves me 200-300 a month in gas money.

I honestly hate toshiba... I have had terrible experences with the brand. I know that alienware desktops are uber over priced, so I will never get one of those... unless it's free... free things are good.

My parents will gladly exchange the 200 quarters for a 50 dollar bill- simple because when they gamble with thier friends, they use quarters..

I ride a school bus for free. Though I hate most of the people on it, annoying pot smoking kids who are nearly 18, and are still freshmen.

Just not Alienware. I'd go with a better value for your dollar.
There are plenty of other brands that don't bank on "Look cool while you play video games in a public place!" and actually give you high-quality products that won't get you funny looks.

You say $50 as if it's alot of money. Kids who work at Mcdonalds get that from a day's work.

I meant I carpool to work, I'm done with school :p. But yeah, buses suck big-time. I heartily recommend drowning everything else out with an mp3 player whilst riding one.

Meh, I wouldn't game that much in a public place, I want a laptop for the personal options of it, no one in my family would mess with it, seeing as how I can't have a desktop all to myself. I agree, the are a bit pricy, and look odd, but not that odd.

It's a lot of money for a 14 year old kid, and seeing as how that can get me a game I want, I won't complain.

i can vowge for that, i used to work as a chashier and once some old dude payed for a 18 dollar squirt gun in quarters, what rly sucked was that they were just loose quarters. So i had to count all of them out, and when it only came to $13 he had to dig through his pockets. Created a long line.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want Alienware then?

There's much better options, some of them are more expensive, but in the end, it's up to you.

I live off of $20 a week. I get Publix (store brand) brand yogurt and a banana for lunch. I also get a Publix brand 2lb bag of pretzels which lasts for almost 2 months. A giant bag of brown rice (which lasts forever!) and frozen veggies are pretty cheap and are good enough for dinner. It's not fancy, but I get by. I usually get some kind of fruit juice as well.

I walk a lot and take the buses which are free for university students. We also have a theater that is free for students.

My brother and his friend payed for 4 packs of pokemon cards in pennies, about 897 of them... That poor cashier...

1. Pretty lights
2. Portable, so I could take it to my school and use it for my technology class
3. Has a good graphics card, I can play my favorite games that my home PC can't!
4. It is very appealing to me, rather than most laptops I have seen.

If you are going to get a new laptop I recommend getting one of the Asus ones if you dont care much about the weight. Also how much are you planning to save?
