The Vanguard RP is set in an original world of super-humans, just like that of DC or Marvel. The players in the RP will make up a group of superheroes called The Vanguard. This group is essentially cut from the same cloth as Marvel's Avengers or DC's Justice League, a team of superheroes, working together to face threats they could not handle alone.

1940's: The world's first super human is a Nazi experiment known as the Ubermensch. His appearance in unprecedented, in his first battle he destroys an entire battalion of allied unit when they try to take Normandy on D-Day. Though soon after, the Allies bounce back when the American's find their own super agent, Hero-Prime. With his help they manage to take back Normandy and win the war.

1950's: The first super agents are referred to as "Super-Agents" because rather than independent agents they almost all work directly for the government. By the 50's the number of super-agents sky rockets, where there was originally two by the end of the 50's almost every super power had its own super-agent. The most being Russia and America, who were soon locked in an super-powered arms race, with more focus on who can get their hands the most super-humans rather than missiles. These Super-Agents clashing often in the US's and USSR's various proxy wars.

1960's-70's: With the increased social turmoil a Super-Humans begin to work as independent workers, working for the greater good rather than national power. At first the government is at odds with these renegades but soon begin to become more at ease with them near the end of the 70's. During this period there is also the introduction of Super-Crime as well.

Present: Super Vigilantes have become a world-wide institution. Several issues like regulation, control, drafting, international law enforcement are constantly being debated in politics around the world. Heroes battle Villains, a war of good and evil is constantly fought on all fronts of the world by the few, the unique and powerful individuals.

The style of this RP is and Open RP. Meaning that you will decide what your character does and what happens when it does something. I will control the story and set the scene and obstacle. You don't need to be extremely serious, remember this is supposed to be just like a comic-book so be prepared for some golden-age wackiness here and there.

Controlling other peoples characters isn't expressly forbidden, but be sure not to abuse it, and be ready for people to ask you to edit what you made them, say or do. The best way to avoid this is to ask permission first.

I'm going to try something new for combat and challenges. Every time an enemy or obstacle is presented I will give a number. This number is a post count, it tells you how many posts this fight or challenge should be resolved in.

The world this RP is set in is just like our own. Politics, media, global crises, people, and other such things have happened or exist in this world unless stated beforehand. Though something that can always be considered is how super-human?s have affected these (Maybe a political leader had the endorsement of a hero. A villain could have used a natural disaster as a smoke screen for one of their operations). Also super hero comics specifically also exist in our world.

This RP will function in several "Arcs" with each chapter being broken down into smaller "Acts". The Arcs will be fully enclosed stories that will begin and end their own conflicts and be separated into about four separate acts.

Without giving anything away the first Arc will focus on a conspiracy, but others will vary. Also at the beginning of the first Act The Vanguard has not been formed yet, this is very important so you don't make a mistake with your background.

Handle: (Your heroe"s name)

Appearance: (Describe what someone would know about your hero by looking at them. Be sure to include height, build type, and if not specific clothes, dress style.)

Powers: (What are your hero"s powers or things that make him special? Be sure not to make an overpowered hero, or else you?ll end up like Superman: Bland and barely interesting. Please include the source of your powers and list some specific manifestation.)

Personality: (What your character"s base level personality is like, list anything that will help people have a better idea what they can expect from your character. This can change as time goes on and your character evolves.)

Bio: (Characters personal history, please include how your character became the hero he/she is today.)

Anything else you feel like adding is optional, pictures, code of ethics, civilian identity, etc.

Handle: The Untouchable

Appearance:

The Untouchable stands at 6'2", he has a fit and athletic but extremely muscled build. He wears always, an immaculate pinstriped black suit, and a pair of white gloves. Over his face he wears a skin-tight silver mask which completely covers all of his feature, but at the same time is breathable and perfectly see-through, additionally it is bonded to his skin until a chemical compound is applied to remove it, making removal of the mask impossible without his wanting to.

Powers:

Source: Training, Untouchable's abilities come from years and years of training and practice.

Physical: The Untouchable is a master of acrobatics and hand-to-hand combat. His style focuses on evasion and then striking with a brutal, bone-breaking strike.

Mental: Being one of the world's greatest detectives, Untouchable reads crime scenes like they were books. Along with that he is skilled in other aspects of crime solving as well, like forensics, and interrogation. Also he is very resourceful often improvising traps and weapons with whatever he can find. Finally a lifelong obsession with justice has given him amazing will-power, he can ignore pain and feels no fear.

Personality:

The Untouchable has an obsession with fighting crime, he tends to care more about foiling villains than helping people. He sees crime as a personal battle between him and the Villains, a test of wits and willpower.

Generally he is calm and collected, though also cynical, he tend see the worst in all things, due to the fact he believes everything has a sinister motive.

Bio:

Before becoming a crime-fighter Untouchable was Ace-Detective Garret Hawk. Working in Sterling City, a place widely regarded as the most corrupt city in the United States. Garret chose to fight against that corruption; he started spending less of his time catching criminals and more time cleaning up the justice systems. Soon however his colleagues got tired of him constantly selling them out. So one day while Garret was enjoying dinner with his wife and daughter, they burnt down his home.

Garret barely managed to survive, crawling out of the flame badly burned but still breathing. His wife and child, however were not so lucky. Believed dead and driven mad with grief, Garret swore to bring his families killers to justice. For 8 long years he trained, to turn himself into the perfect weapon against crime. Finally when he was ready he took it up a silver mask and white gloves to represent, purity and freedom from the stain of corruption, along with the name: The Untouchable, in homage to the Prohibition era officers who took similar stances against corruption.

Moral Code:

- The Mission always comes first.

-Defeat the criminals at all costs.

-Never bring innocents into the line of fire; this is between you and your target.

-Finally, Never compromise, never surrender, never look back.

Name: Chris 'Xion' Miller

Gender: Male

Age: 23

Appearance: Spiked up snow white hair marks Chris out as different from other people his age, as do the black iris and white pupils that are often covered by sunglasses. Other than those aspects, he is a pretty standard 23 year old man, standing at just over 5'10" with a very slim and toned build, he often attracts attention from people in the street.

He's often seen wearing a black sports jacket with dark blue jeans with his trademark sunglasses. That is his 'human form' though, in his 'Unborn' form he stands at the same height as normal but his build is much different. His skin becomes almost like a weak metal and his eyes glow a brilliant yellow with white slits instead of pupils.

Personality: Very cynical and sharp to the point, Chris is often mistaken for someone who hates the world, in fact he only hates the idiots that screw everything up for others.

Power: Can create blade like objects from wherever is needed on his body, these blades are nigh on indestructible. The Unborn form can sprout wings from his back to give himself flight for short periods.

Weakness: Cannot remain in his Unborn form fighting indefinitely, if he tries to force himself over his limit he is likely to die from exertion of the powers.

History:(For ease I'm calling him Xion for a while here)Born on the planet of Faroi, Xion was raised with a fairly basic family for his race, a father raising the boy and the mother raising the girl.

At the age of 16, the planet of Faroi was invaded by a long since dormant aggressive parasitic life-form called the Dreshi, his father gave his life to protect the small family. It was when one of the brutes felled his father and turned to the others that Xion discovered he was one of the chosen. His anger erupted and took form of the Unborn that rested within him, in the resulting brawl between him and the brute, little of the town was left standing, among the wreckage Xion found what drove him to running away.

When he'd managed to kill the Brute, it'd fallen on his family home, his mother and sister where lying cuddled into each other for their last embrace, one of the rafters had split from the roof and impaled them to the floor. His sister drew her last breaths staring at her demonic brother with a pained smile on her face. The image of his 8 year old sisters still burns in his mind till this day.

He'd managed to find an evacuation pod that allowed him to leave the ruined planet for ever, he'd set the course for the nearest liveable planet and entered cryo-stasis for 2.3 million light years. The planet he crashed on was Earth, he lived in New York under the alias of Chris Miller, a man he'd been rescued by in the middle of an ocean.

Chris has nothing in his life but the money he'd won from a lotto draw one day, with the money he'd bought a decent flat and settled into a mundane life. It was after his house was broken into that he decided to use his counterpart to try and better the world he now inhabited since he failed to protect his last.

Moral code: Will never bring himself to kill a female, a male of any age will be killed if he tries to impede him.
Will never shift into his Unborn form in front of normal people, fears the process will petrify them as it's quite horrific.

Except less evil looking.


Handle : Junker AKA Jared Kline

Power : 15' radius of Telekinesis. Uses this power to break and bend his surroundings into a makeshift weapon and suit of armor.

Appearance : 6'1", short brown hair, green eyes. Wears dark blue jeans and flak jacket. "Hero Outfit" varies with situation. Past reports show him "wearing" cars, parts of buildings (brick, rebar, sheet metal, etc), trees, the contents of a hardware store, etc. He also uses some variation of a bludgeoning weapon, wielded with help of his power. One standout was a telephone pole.

Personality : He could be called a considerate person; aware of others' problems and sensitivities. He is slow to anger, unless he is dealing with plain, stupid people. He also has a strong distaste for the media, and avoids reporters like the plague. Whenever he uses his powers, he always has something wrapped around his face to conceal his identity.

Bio : Jared was the offspring of one of the original super-agents and a civilian woman. He spent most of his early life with his mother, watching his father's feats on TV and knowing he would never be able to tell anyone. Jared saw the pressure from the public slowly crushing his dad, and after discovering his own power at 16, decided never to become what his father was.

Now 21, Jared has spent the majority of his time honing and learning the limits of his power. He still stays away from the media, and never speaks to the people he saves. He has become more of an icon of the people than a hero; appearing from within a crowd, saving the day, and disappearing back into the crowd leaving a pile of his own armor behind.



Handle: Nietzsche

Appearance: Black hair, blue eyes, about 5'11" tall. Thin, but not scrawny. Never wears loose clothing, it interferes too much with his abilities.

Powers: Teleportation, enhanced reflexes and senses.

Personality: He doesn't care too much about much anything. In fact, he takes a rather pessimistic view of the world. He's not a fan of costumes, and dislikes the posturing put on by most other heroes. He tends to go in, murder someone, and then leave.

Bio: Was born in the early 80s, he grew up in a loving home surrounded by his family. Then, one day in his early teens, he discovered his powers. His family tried to be accepting, but tensions rose and he walked out on his eighteenth birthday, never to return. He played piano in clubs until the present day. While there, he saw lots of the criminal element -- an element he didn't like. However, while he has noble intentions, his skills are oftentime put up to the highest bidder.

His typical weapons are knives. Lots of knives.

Code of Ethics: Self preservation is primary, all others are secondary.

The world does not care whether you live or die.

Civilian Identity: A young jazz pianist named Frederic Chopin.

- Tracking - Chef is able to track a target with his increased senses
- Survival - able to survive in almost any environment(this includes trapping, hunting, foraging ect.)
- Stealth - is very stealthy
- Animal speech - can speak to most animals

Personality:

I dont realy know how this character will turn out so we'll see.

Bio:
When he was born Chef's parents where shocked to say the least about their little beastbaby but they still took him home and cared for him.

When he was 8 a mountain lion came down from the nearby hills nearly starved. The lion soon found and killed both Chef's parents but the lion found that Chef was more difficult prey. A small fight ensued and after he killed the lion Chef ran away and lived in the wild for 7 years protecting the animals and fending off hunters.

While on a mission to shutdown a group of poachers the Untouchable had the feeling he was being watched and indeed he was as he had stummbled into the forest Chef guarded. Chef followed the Untouchable for several days to see if he was a threat. When the Untouchable caught up with the poachers a fight ensued. Chef knowing the poachers only as a threat to the animals in the forest also attacked the men but was shot several times and in the process saved the Untouchable's life. In retern the Untouchable cared for Chef untill he healed.

When chef had fully healed and the Untouchable finally convinced him that he was a friend, or at least not a chewtoy, he was able to explain what had happened and chef soon pledged his life to repay his debt to the weird furless creature.

The Untouchable took Chef to his recently acquired safe house, tought him how to talk, how to live in the modern world(or at least how normal people do) but Chef, weirdly enought, showed the most adept in technology, cooking and games of war/stratagy such as chess.

Chef traveled with the Untouchable for awhile while he learned about people and the 'Human World' and intern taught the Untouchable how to survive in the wild. Soon neither of them could learn from one another so Chef move into the Untouchable's safe house to safe guard and learn from the confiscated equipment.

Appearance: Bald. Scarred skin. 6 feet tall. Skinny. Generally wears a sweater-vest with a white collared shirt and nice pants.

Powers: The ability to control an object/persons age, either causing them to become younger or older.

Personality: Very Self-Centered. Considers himself superior to others, but wants to protect other people. A media whore. Wishes to be remembered by the people. Does not refrain from killing criminals.

Bio: David Rapp was an actor in the local theater when it was burnt to the ground during a performance. Although he was horribly injured, a man gave him the opportunity to reclaim his life. In return, he would be experimented on. These experiments gave him the ability to cause objects to age rapidly, and he easily disposed of the criminals.

He now roams the city, looking for criminals to dispose of, so that people may remember him.

Alright I'll reserve you guys spots.

I already have most of the OP typed out, I'll probably have it up in an hour or two.

A tip for thinking of a hero, start with a theme or power you think is cool, and from there give him a name, appearance, personality, and background.

The sky is the limit, make whatever character you think would fit into a comic book. While your at it, feel free to make up the alien race, home world, history, whatever you want so you can integrate your character.

In terms of power level, keep in mind you don't want to make your character to overpowered. An overpowered character can be boring to play and play alongside.

Holy cow. That is one of the best bios I have read in a good while. Kudos! In fact, it's so good, it makes me want to join, even though I'm already enrolled in a superhero RP. :) I'm currently working on my sheet!

Appearance:He has a slim build, And stands at 5'8", He also wears a black suit with a loosened red tie and has flowing black hair.

Powers:Able to take on the form of anyone he meets, Meaning even an old man.. Lets him gain entry into places. So more so, Shapeshifting...

Personality: Shy, But when he takes the form of another person he will also take thier personality making him random at times. You dont know what he will do next.

Bio: After the J1-K Experiment he was working on went awry, He was not the same person.. He began to take the form of men or woman, He was never really able to go back to what he used to look like, He never really wanted this. But in the end it was not his choice.

Appearance: Black hair, blue eyes, about 5'11" tall. Thin, but not scrawny. Never wears loose clothing, it interferes too much with his abilities.

Powers: Teleportation, enhanced reflexes and senses.

Personality: He doesn't care too much about much anything. In fact, he takes a rather pessimistic view of the world. He's not a fan of costumes, and dislikes the posturing put on by most other heroes. He tends to go in, murder someone, and then leave.

Bio: Was born in the early 80s, he grew up in a loving home surrounded by his family. Then, one day in his early teens, he discovered his powers. His family tried to be accepting, but tensions rose and he walked out on his eighteenth birthday, never to return. He played piano in clubs until the present day. While there, he saw lots of the criminal element -- an element he didn't like. However, while he has noble intentions, his skills are oftentime put up to the highest bidder.

His typical weapons are knives. Lots of knives.

Femme Fatale (also Project Fleur or Fleur as a human name.)

Appearance:

Femme Fatale is quite slender and fit from doing her heroic duties and stands at 5'6". Having been created in the 1950's, her hair is black and styled in that typical 1950's short cut. Her eyes are a soft grey colour. As for her costume, she typically wears a white outfit consisting of a long tunic that reaches her mid-thigh, is held snuggle around her waist by a thick black belt, has a long V-neck, and cap sleeves. She wears white gloves, almost like the golfing sort, on both hands. As for feet, her boots with a modest heel stop just below her knees. A white band is strapped around her throat, with a black fleur de lis imprinted on the middle, in recognition of her French home country.

Powers:

Femme Fatale has the ability to create 'force fields'. These fields typically appear as bubbles surrounded whatever she casts them upon, but can be stretched and manipulated into ovular shapes, platforms/stairs, or can outline specifically the anatomy of her target. These fields appearance is also akin to soap bubbles, with the same swirling, changing pattern; however, instead of bearing the entire colour spectrum, her fields only shine a bright gold. Whilst within these force fields, oxygen is unable to either leave or enter, so remaining within the field for a long enough time would eventually lead to death. These fields are capable of withstanding devastating blows, such as bullets, rockets, and high-speed collisions. She has yet to test her abilities against anything as strong as, say, a nuclear explosion- but she is confident that she might survive.

These fields are also mobile IF she wills them to be- so the field is able to trap or root an enemy, or to protect running people. The fields take a toll on her conscious to control and maintain so the larger the field, the more concentration and energy is required. She is also weakened mentally by every blow to the field, but it would take a very mighty blast to knock her unconscious and destroy the field.

As an offensive measure (just in case), her creators also gave her the ability to cause her own small fields to 'explode'. These explosions vary on the size of the field created, but generally follow the rule of manmade explosives- a grenade-sized field will cause the same impact as a grenade; a missile-sized field will cause the same impact as a missile; etc. Because of the larger energy drain this causes, missiles is the largest she typically creates in combat. These fields also appear as almost glass-like balls emitting a golden light from within, and must either be thrown, launched, or 'projected' from her hands (which are basically blasted from her hands and explode on impact).

Personality:

Femme Fatale was created not only as a defence for France, but also a model for women and women's rights; therefore, upon her birth, she was created with a strong sense of independence, justice, and freedom for her people. She responds best to her duty, rarely turning down a mission where her aid is needed. In public, her demeanour is usually tall, proud, and strong, but when caught alone or off guard, she may appear more tired and warm, yet sorrowful, than the public eye sees. She isn't afraid of risking her own life for the lives of her countrymen and women, but she does fear watching them succumb to the will of foreign countries while she herself is rendered helpless.

Bio:

During the 1950's, as more powerful nations began developing their own super protectors, the creation process of Femme Fatale began. From 1953 to 1957, borrowing from friendly American allies, the French were able to create their own modified super human. Though 'born' in 1957, her genetics were manipulated to prevent aging, thus freezing her age at the desirable appearance of a woman's late twenties, and replenishing dying cells to maintain this appearance. Though she has been on this planet for roughly half a decade, she never alters her hair style or appearance, staying stylish yet with a nostalgic 50's vide.

Acting as an emissary and representative of the French judicial system and police force (for she was created to be very educated), 'Fleur' has gained a reputation as France's head super hero, and a symbol of justice and power for her country. Though she hails from France, and bears a slightly French accent, she speaks perfect English. She is often sent to the U.S.A, the U.K., and Canada as a personal guardian of the French Prime Minister.

I finished the bio and added a bit to the appearance above. Here is is here anyway:
Handle : Junker AKA Jared Kline

Power : 15' radius of Telekinesis. Uses this power to break and bend his surroundings into a makeshift weapon and suit of armor.

Appearance : 6'1", short brown hair, green eyes. Wears dark blue jeans and flak jacket. "Hero Outfit" varies with situation. Past reports show him "wearing" cars, parts of buildings (brick, rebar, sheet metal, etc), trees, the contents of a hardware store, etc. He also uses some variation of a bludgeoning weapon, wielded with help of his power. One standout was a telephone pole.

Personality : He could be called a considerate person; aware of others' problems and sensitivities. He is slow to anger, unless he is dealing with plain, stupid people. He also has a strong distaste for the media, and avoids reporters like the plague. Whenever he uses his powers, he always has something wrapped around his face to conceal his identity.

Bio : Jared was the offspring of one of the original super-agents and a civilian woman. He spent most of his early life with his mother, watching his father's feats on TV and knowing he would never be able to tell anyone. Jared saw the pressure from the public slowly crushing his dad, and after discovering his own power at 16, decided never to become what his father was.

Now 21, Jared has spent the majority of his time honing and learning the limits of his power. He still stays away from the media, and never speaks to the people he saves. He has become more of an icon of the people than a hero; appearing from within a crowd, saving the day, and disappearing back into the crowd leaving a pile of his own armor behind.
