Several images flash through the man's mind, and into Kylar's. Young children, dying. Armoured men, their swords coated in blood. Images of Trent, and the talks of getting rid of the strangers.

"Leave me be! I don't know what you-" the old man breathes his final breath, the probing into his mind causing a stroke that proved fatal.
I never said they were planning an attack, that guy and the thugs just didn't like soldiers. The town is ruled by martial law technically, if you cross someone, they can kill you if they want, but there is no police force to speak of.

Get to the horses, Misa is already down, the carriage is leaving soon. You are to intercept it before it leaves the castle grounds and escort it.
I got bored of waiting, so we're leaving now, I have work tonight, so if everyone starts posting when I'm off, just do some chatter on the route, Above Up will be the only one allowed to initiate anything. The princess will not respond to anyone however. Either way, when I return home, if nothing has happened, I'll bump us along till something does. If you've been busy, I'll take us into the village.

Kylar let the corpse go, disheartened by what he had just witnessed. These people hadn't been planning an attack, they just hated strangers. Kylar disliked torturing unless it brought about results and he had gotten nothing important from the old man.

Breathing heavily he related what he saw to Trent, "They weren't planning anything. This town just hates strangers and seeks to keep the peace amongst itself. I got flashes of some soldiers butchering townspeople; men, women, and children. They don't trust us and will use violence to get rid of us. That's why you all were attacked."

Kylar stood and walked to the door, "Come on then, lets find the others."

First RP and now I'm in charge of a group... That's actually a bit... scary.

Cygnus nodded at Jarod. "I see all of you are ready to move out immediately, so that's what we're going to do." Despite the arguing, they're at least more organized than the guerillas.

Cygnus led the way to the horses, noting the carriage on the way. Picking a horse at random and started following the carriage. I wonder how good I could keep my focus on a horse. If I could do that, it'd be impossible to run into any sort of surprise on the way...

Not sure if we're supposed to be in the carriage, or if we're supposed to follow/suround it. If anyone would rather get inside, go right ahead.

Jarod followed the group and jumped up on the carriage and sat next to the driver, with his repeater on his lap.

"Driver, if we run in trouble, just ride fast and straight." The driver nodded his head in acknowledgment.

I should've clarified, no-one gets in the carriage, you can ride on the roof if you really want to, but not inside.
A flash of lightening crackles across the dark sky, swiftly followed by a crashing thunder roll. Seconds later, the heavens themselves open, a constant torrent of cold rain falling from the clouds.

"Beautiful weather for a ride!" Misa laughs darkly, her face pointing up at the falling rain, as her horse trots along, keeping pace with the carriage.

I am riding shotgun on the carriage. Wait, you mean that Misa the princess is not in the carriage?

As lightening crack across the night, Jarod pulled his hood over his head in preparation of the incoming rain.

Always have enjoyed the rain. Quite calming. Also makes it harder for people to locate where my bolts came from.

From his position on top of the carriage, Thanatos scowled. "Damn rain!" He threw his hood up, the shadows enveloping his face. "Damn water, not allowing me to do my magic right. I have to use Bursts if I want to have any effect at all now." He muttered. He sighed and scanned the area. "So, how you holding up, Ice Queen? I bet this weather is perfect for you." He said, asking Grace.

Misa is T-3's character in the RP, Orange. She's a golem, not the princess.

"You'd be surprised," Grace replied as she tried to keep her horse in line. "I don't like rain. Yeah, it makes fighting anyone I need to a heck of a lot easier, but I'm all soaked." She readjusted the hood on her robes as it kept flying off. "Plus it's depressing. It's ice that couldn't take the heat. I wish we were allowed in the carriage..."

I didn't see "Time Traveling Toaster" in accepted character sheets, so I just assumed that TTT was playing the part of princess. But now that i know what to look for...

"Well Gracie, at least you aren't a sitting duck on that horse!" Jarod yell toward her general direction.

I didn't get any objections about trying to use focus (as in Hunter's Paradise), so here goes...

Falling in out of focus, Cygnus was having trouble keeping balance on the horse. It was hard enough to just try and focus deeply on the surroundings on horseback and the rain wasn't making it any different. Yet there was something there that assured him he should try and keep it up.

Cygnus closed his eyes, took a deep breath and opened them again. The world slid back in place. He could feel every individual raindrop on him, see every drop around him. Battering him, the ground, the carriage. He tried to ignore it. There were more important things to pay attention to than the rain. Somewhere in the background, the rest of the group were talking to each other. He learned long ago to shut out conversations when focusing, it makes it impossible to do so in large groups if you don't.

His attention went elsewhere. A shadow moved. He studied the shadow until it turned into six individual shadows, all of them behind carriage. Still out of sight for most people. They seemed to be moving at a slightly faster speed than the carriage. Three of the shadows moved away from the group, rapidly increasing their speed. Cygnus studied it for a while before slipping out of focus again. The world went back the way it was before, the rain blended together, washing everything a paler shade of grey than it was before. Detail mixed with blandness. It always takes a while to get used to seeing the world normally again...

Cygnus moved his horse closer to the carriage. "We've got company. Group of six, armed. From what I could see, they're bandits. I'm expecting they're after the carriage and have no idea about the princess being in it yet.
"They split into two separate groups, the second one is gaining on us fast, they'll either appear on our right or set up a block on the road. Either way, the want to attack us from two angles."

He looked back again for a while, before returning his attention to the group. "The three behind us are picking up speed, they'll reach us soon enough. I say we stop the carriage and take them down first, before the second group can interfere."

"It's your mission, boss," Misa grunts, her mind focused on protection.

"You tell him to stop, the rest of us will get ready," she pulls the hammer off her back.

"You're in charge of course," she grins looking back to Cygnus.
Yeah, my character sheet is cunningly labelled "Me" >.>

"Allright, We'll stop and hit them before they get close." Cygnus said as he readied his heavy bow. "Hopefully we can get all of them before the other group decides to hit us."

I'm quite honestly not too sure where to go from here in terms of control, this being my first RP and all and having no experience here. >.>

"I'm ready back here," Grace said. She got her hands ready to start casting whatever attack or wall Cygnus needed.

Thanatos rolled his head, producing a large cracking sound. He held his hand straight to the side, not even looking at it. Energy started to gather in his palm, until it conglamerated into a softball sized black globe of energy. It made a low hum. Thanatos stood up and scanned the countryside once more. "Locked and loaded. Just tell me where to fire, and we have ourselves a barbeque." Thanatos grinned. "No-one's gonna even get close to the princess so long as I'm breathing."

Cygnus motioned the carriage to stop. Slowly but surely, it came to a halt. He got his horse to stand next to it and looked at the first group through his crossbow's scope. He could see them clearly now, two of them had had swords and one an axe. He allowed himself a brief smile because they had the advantage. We've got hunters and magi. Chances are they won't make it to the golem, but if they it'll be a sight to see.

He looked at the others and motioned towards where he was looking. "You should be able to see them now. When they're close enough, I'll give a signal. I want everyone able to use any form of projectiles to attack.
"Grace, I'm not sure what you can do with your ice, but if possible, freeze the ground beneath them or do something creative with their surrounding. I think the rain should make your powers more effective.
"Thanatos, again keep in mind I don't know much about magic. However, should they come close, I want you to try and start up some confusion with using heat and water. The last thing they're expecting is steam literally being blown off around here."

Cygnus went back to his scope. The three bandits were getting close now. Just a bit more... Just a bit... Almost in range now...

"Fire!" Cygnus shouted as he pulled the trigger on his heavy crossbow. He immediately reached for the next bolt, but as if by his signal an arrow flew past his face. In shock, he fell back. He hit the ground on his back, hard. Without hesitating, he quickly got up, in front of him his horse was fleeing the scene in panic. Shi-- The right!

The other group of bandits had started their ambush, they were much closer to the carriage than the first one. He looked back at the group of bandits he had fired at. At least he had taken down his mark. Half in shock, Cygnus started reloading his heavy crossbow.
The other group must be here to stop us from killing of the first... Why didn't I take that into account?!

Hopefully I did good enough. I couldn't think of another way to do this situation.

Dunno where Jon the Guerrilla went, so I'm moving myself along.

Once the threat was neutralized, he shook his head. "More hostiles...? Hopefully Kylar has discovered something of use."

Aurelius still had the idle sketch of the Princess's building--he needed to investigate it.

"Well, if there are no imminent threats then I suppose all we need to worry about its body guard duty." Trent said coolly. "If these people really are self-reliant than we don't know if someone will try something out of the blue." Trent started walking as he finished and motioned to Kylar, "C'mon, the other team will be coming along shortly. We'll need to relay what we've learned."

"Right!" Grace focused on one one of the riders approaching. She brought her hands forward and took aim directly above him, on the rain falling on him. She fired the blue magic at the droplets, turning them into pellets of freezing rain. They rained down on the rider, quickly encasing him in a sheet of ice that spread down over his body. His horse reared up at the freezing sensations on its back, tossing the bandit, leaving his now frozen person on the ground. "I got one of them down!" She yelled out.
