wow, so many kids on this site, or adults who started gaming really late. I Cant really recall the first game I played, Im sure it was some arcade game that I played when i was 3 or 4(which was likely me just mashing buttons). First memory i specifically have is when I was 4, going to my uncles place and he had an atari and I started playing Berzerk. I talked about the games so much a week later they gave me the system with their games and from then on I was hooked.

I've been playing games as long as I can remember. I guess the earliest game I could remember was a flash game on an old PC from when I was 3.

The Game Gear was my first game based thing I ever had.

You could even watch TV on it.0.o

Paperboy was the best thing in my life at the age of 7.

In the sense of thinking of myself in the terms of a gamer, it would have to be FF10. I had played and beaten stuff like Sonic the Hedgehog, Banjo Kazooie, Super Mario 64, NES Mario and a good list of others because it was around and fun. It wasn't until FF10 that I realized that video games are a great way to feel involved with a cool story and do things I could never do in reality, which led me down the proverbial rabbit hole.

Age of Empires Gold Edition (i.e. including the Rise of Rome expansion pack)

I first downloaded the demo to that game when I was like 9 or 10, and played it for hours. Then I got the full version for Christmas. Man, those were the days!

In a way, I was raised with gaming being completely normal. Some of my earliest memories involved watching my dad play Command and Conquer and playing point-and-click adventure games like Curse of Monkey Island, Putt-Putt, and Spy Fox.

Technically, my first video game was Donkey Kong Country, but I used to just watch my twin sister play it since I was always so terrible at reflex based games.

However, what got me into actually playing video games was Pokemon Red.

It was either Pokemon or Sonic CD. Probably Pokemon though. My friend had Red before it came to the states. She was Japanese, so she had to tell me which attacks to select, but all the same, i had fun.

LOL so many kiddies here.

My first game was my stepmothers Super Mario bros. She also had Legend of Zelda. Good times.

The first game I bought with my own money was Mario Bros 3.

Streets of Rage. It was a game I had to play with someone else, because it was more fun that way. The idea that a game had that power over me to need someone else to play it really made me appreciate the power of a game.

The game that got me into gaming was Halo: Combat Evolved. I didn't actually own the game until years after I played it at a friend's house, but it was the game that got me wanting video games and consoles.

The Original Zelda, which is classic, but also the pokemon games, the first of which is pokemon blue. I refuse to play any except the originals. : )
I also enjoyed Age of Empires.

Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt.

It was love at first power up, and at first duck murder.

EDIT: And I guess Pokemon Blue helped things along as well.

It was the first game i ever played, Joust. I'd always been mesmerized by games as early back as i can rember but Joust was the first time i was given a quarter and allowed to play one. I was 5 and had no idea what i was doing and i didn't care. All i know is 15 minutes later i was still on my first life when my folks draged me away from the game, thinking that i finshed long ago.

I was pissed and wanted to play more and i've been hooked ever since

Fuck... I'm old...

You're not old, you're an antique, a treasure from a dying age. Now cheer up and be glad you're not dead.
OT: Probably one of the Marios on the NES or Super NES. It might have been Mortal Kombat though.

I've been playing games since 1995,1996 since a wee lad. Started out with SMB3, Megaman 6, Zelda (original), Breakout (called "Bricks" on our PC).

Starcraft and Diablo 2, I had a computer exclusively. I never was really able to play them, but my brother brought me up to think they were cool, so, I continued playing anyway, even though I couldn't get past SC's mission 3 without cheats. I remember those days. They seem so long ago. Now I play Scarcraft2, a multitude of flash games and, on occasion Diablo2, lots of evolution. I wish that I could get more variety, but i'll save that for later. the biggest problem that I have with games, is that my parents don't approve of them. Oh well, I think I have enough time later.
