CHEX Quest! I didn't know it at the time, but it was just DOOM with retextured enemies to make everything Chex themed.

Had an old device which was hooked onto the television, with those big disks the size of dvd containers, and I distinctly remember some variety of joystick and helicopters.

I was 5.

I don't know I've been playing games before I could even walk... Not kidding.

Original Duke Nukem for MS DOS. Ah, those were the days... Playing on my grandpa's knee, knocking back half-frozen Dr. Peppers and munching on sardines and crackers... Good times. He even got a joystick; he was a pretty hardcore techie for back in the day.

I suppose Atari games like tank battle and all the ancient Atari classics got me started into gaming but I didn't really get hooked until the NES and the Legend of Zelda came out, after that I was into gaming hook, line and sinker! After I played Super Mario Brothers there was absolutely no looking back for me...

Hm...thats a toughy..I use to watch my uncle play Final Fantacy a lot so probably one of those. However, one of the first games I have played was Shining Wisdom and Clockwork Knight for the Sega saturn. I eventually got many games and systems, and although I am primarily a PC gamer now, I still plug in my n64 or sega saturn for some oldie goodness.

I guess Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. I sucked at it but still loved it.
However, the game that truly made me a devoted, hardcore gamer was Mass Effect (still play it)

A combination of 2 games introduced me to the gaming lifestlye: LoZ:OoT, and Halo. The first game I wtached my father play for christmas in 1998. Being 5 years old, I didn't really understand the puzzles and gameplay when I watched, and just stuck to playing mario cart all day. I was probaly nearing seven years old when I finally got curious about that game, so I finally decided to sit down and play it. And boy, WAS MY MIND BLOWN. From the music to the combat to the puzzles to the cool enemy designs, I soon learned that Mario Cart was an embarrasment of a game compared to LoZ:OoT. I never got to beat it (DAMN YOU WATER TEMPLE!) but I loved it. But I never really played games until the Xbox came out, and buddy introduced me to the juggernut named HALO. I had never played a shooter or syfy game before, so Halo, like LoZ:OoT, blew my mind. The enemy AI was infurating yet satisfying to beat, and the whole BAM CRAZY RING WORLD WITH ALIENS AND STUFF premise was freaking awesome. Man, just thinking about those games makes me want to beat them again!

Thinking about it,it has to have been either Final Fantasy 9,Tekken 3 or Pokemon Yellow.
It is kind of ironic really.I can't stand combat in modern Final Fantasy and I suck at fighting games.
