There is nothing wrong with doing a program in this way. doctor who for one is writen in this way and thats one of the most popular show in the uk( if you don't like doctor who don't bash it. it is one of the most popular shows)

I have been enjoying the walking dead (it's still going here) and new about this makes me sure that I'll watch the next season.... pissed that the next season isn't out till next october, it's gonna be long for me.. :(

Well, they have already moved pretty well off the comic story-line, so why not have a rotating crop of writers with no personal stake in continuity.

I'm saddened by the overwhelming amount of cynicism coming out of this thread, especially considering it isn't even that dramatic a change.

If a writing staff only ended up writing two episodes wouldn't it make sense to cut them as they are essentially getting payed for nothing? Also, writers do not determine how an episode comes out, in the end the director, and to an extent the producer, is the one who determines what ends up on the screen. Sure the quality control might vary a little bit from episode to episode, but has that even mattered that much this season?

Finally, if the writing staff was responsible for the first and second episode I'd say fire them. Honestly the first episode made the main character look like such a rash fool I'm surprised anyone is putting their life in his hands.

What are the chances of season 2 having a long story arc? I'm only up to episode 4 of Season 1, but if different writers are on each episode will they be able to effectively set up the events of the following ones? Or is that not going to be an issue with something like The Walking Dead?

They can cancel it and Kirkman can die in a fire for all I care, at least then I know for sure he won't do anymore of those abysmal Marvel Zombie books.

Really? Hrmmm...I really need to get around to reading the comic then. I had someone tell me the Prison story arc is one of the best parts. My brother has all the books. I'm going to get them today and start reading.
I honestly don't know why anyone could like it. The writer makes permanent decisions that just don't work for the main character, he kills people off indiscriminately in a way that just doesn't work, and the people are so devoid of character at that point that you just don't care one way or another. All they do is sit around having pseudo-intellectual conversations on the nature of man. I just didn't buy it for a second. And the Governor is maybe the least interesting antagonist I've read in a while.

Interesting. I'll have to see what all the fuss is about then. Thanks for the heads-up about it though.

For what it's worth, I don't know many people who agree with me. Most people seem to love that comic. I got so bored with the dull, murky art and lack of interesting characters or plot. When I tapped out, the only character I still liked was Andrea.

How fitting that a show based on a comic book will have new writers approaching it on a week to week basis. Im all for it.
most comic have a team of writers that write on it for a long time, walking dead fallows that format. Writers change but not issue to issue.
Uh, I'm pretty sure you mean artists. Robert Kirkman wrote probably 80% of the Walking Dead comics.

I feel betrayed, because I've loved every minute of the past five episodes. Especially the fifth one, which had me crying like a baby. If that level of quality goes down as a result of this, I may as well just buy the comics.

haven't watched it, but it looks brilliant. Shame I always forget to watch TV.

Does anyone know if you can watch it online?

Why not just.. I don't know.. Work with the comic as a base?
By reading what you said I have a feeling that the show hardly follows the comic book at all
I haven't read the comic my self, but how hard can it be to read it and go like "Okay guys, think we can make this live?"

I'm saying, what do they need a writing staff for?
