I read the title, and imagined a zombie in a suit going:

'You're fired....WUUUURRGGHHH.....'

Sounds like it's gonna go from bad to worse.

And am I the only one that thought of Left 4 Dead 2 when I saw the picture for the article? (Shane seems to bear a very close resemblance to Ellis as seen here:

Why not just.. I don't know.. Work with the comic as a base?
This.

Getting a new writing staff is fucking stupid. The old writing staff is fucking stupid. Why? BECAUSE THE SCRIPT WAS ALREADY WRITTEN IN COMIC FORM. Don't get me wrong, I am loving the series. It's brilliant and highly enjoyable. My major issue so far is that it is completely inconsistent with the comic books. I am not a purist in any sense, really, but this was kind of heralded as something that would be true to the source. It was at least IMPLIED when they announced Kirkman being on-set much of the time and also writing an episode. After seeing the first episode, I was stunned at how well it remained relatively true to the book. I am baffled at how they decided to just deviate on the second episode, though. I used to be able to pretty much pinpoint the story page by page, but it's impossible now.

I suppose if Kirkman isn't upset, though, good for him. It's not really my business to to piss and moan about what he does and does not do. Like I said, I'm loving the show. I just don't see the reason to pay a shitload of people to write something when good material is ALREADY WRITTEN FOR YOU.

Well, they have already moved pretty well off the comic story-line, so why not have a rotating crop of writers with no personal stake in continuity.
After one and a half episodes, the comic aspect of it went *poof*, which caught me off guard because up until then, it stayed very true.

I don't think this is a good idea, especially because it is based on source material. Some writers will want to incorporate the comics, while others will drift far apart. Also, some who aren't dedicated to the comic might get lazy/writer's block and start using the comics for guidance which will throw off the flow completely. Unlike the great "Doctor Who" (which a couple of people have mentioned), this show needs a certain continuity and having different writers will likely create a mess.

It's like the game where one person writes a sentence and the next person writes another, and so on and so on, until you get a wacky non sequitur story at the end. This will not allow the show to achieve the greatness it deserves.

I feel bad for those writers :/. Although it be pretty rough for thirteen episode seasons it would be cool to see Kirkman and Darabont two-man that shit.

Hm...this is both good and bad. Good because it will give fresh ideas every episode. Bad because the characters will be different every time, the chances of having an ongoing plotline will be shot in the head, and the show will probably end up feeling disjointed and turn into something like The Twilight Zone. Bunch of random episodes, which would be fine, if they stared different people each episode.

Why? According to the article, the 5th was written by the guy who fired the writing staff. Only two were written by the actual writing staff, the other 4 were freelance. You obviously like the freelance idea and don't even know it.

Sup I said:
This T.V show was based off a graphic novel, right?
If it was, that's a let down. I thought it was different and original. Then again, nothing can be different or original if zombies are in it. The last good zombie thing was "Shaun of the Dead."

All I know is that whoever wrote the dialogue for that scene where the sisters are in the boat talking about touchy feely stuff needs to be fired!

If the writing team wrote the 5th episode, then this is okay with me. It was easily the weakest of the bunch.

Or, I never knew who wrote what episode, and, admittedly, it was a poor choice of words. And if most of the writers have been freelance, then what was the point?

Waiting for next October for Season 2??? That bit of news was... painful. :(

That really brings one of my concerns for this show to the forefront... how are you going to move at this pace with the story, yet wait so long between seasons? The characters are going to age, in particular Carl and the other kids in the series. Ohhh, man...
