Oh, for craps sake, just shut this thread down now. There's no point to it, because everyone's just going to scream EA, Ubisoft or Activision.

Wait, what?

Personally, I don't think game devs are evil. Only the publishers who do a "swoop n' poop" on all the good games by coming in and forcing dumb multiplayer (Bioshock 2) or making it more shooter-y (Dead Space 3) or taking a good game like Bad Company 2 and making the sequel 100 times more like COD (Battlefield 3).

I'm not sure what publishing is. All I know is, companies make games. The good ones consistently make good games, and the bad ones consistently make bad games.
Game developers, unfortunately, don't have piles of money lying around, so they can't make any game they want. Actually, they can't really make any games, because they have people to pay. So they turn to publishers (EA, Activision, etc.) who give them money so they can make games. But before that happens, a developer has to pitch a game first, and most publishers today don't like new ideas (they're too scary). So publishers are the ones who do the most evil.

For example, when I see a Capcom logo on a box, I translate it as "Satisfaction Guartunteed."
When I see a Ubisoft logo on a box, I translate it as "Shit alert! Do not buy this!"
So, if a Capcom logo was slapped on the box of Assasins Creed 2, or Far Cry, or Ghost Recon you would buy it and love it. But because they have a Ubisoft log on the front it mean it's automatically crap? You should really get rid of your blind fanboyism and judge the actual bloody games!

Jim did NOT spit enough metaphorical acid at them in his Ubisoft episode! They have done FAR more shit over the entirety of this generation that he didn't bring up!
I thought you were a fan of Ubi?
I'm only a fan of companies that do good.
No, I saw your comments in another thread saying you proper loved the AC series, I'd disagree personally - shitty environments, poor controls, terrible graphics and a really bad monetary system plagued those games.
I never said that!!!! I've never played an Assasin's Creed game!
You did! I'd quote it, but it was a while ago, I'm sure. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate everyone has opinions and all that, but Assassin's Creed was so tiny for an open world game and poorly crafted I don't even know where to begin. Not as bad as Prince of Persia: Sands of Time though, get poorer combat? Bet you like that one though too, cause it's pretty similar to AC.

The most evil developer? That's an interesting one. I'd have to say the only one I can think of that's in any way evil is blizzard. The whole rehashing old games, partnering with a shit publisher that they knew would put digital barriers between their fans and their products and of course, for focusing so intently on WoW rather than conventional (less exploitative) games. However, Blizzard were a developer/publisher, so it's questionable as to whether this is applicable or not, as some of it happened after they sold out to Activision.

Because the amount of hours people have lost to WoW, could have been used to cure cancer, or something productive like that.
I've no doubt this has been done to death, but I feel I have a fairly good hold of why people hate ubisoft despite their reasonably impressive internally developed projects. The issue with ubisoft doesn't stem from the games themselves, and as such as a developer there is no problem with ubisoft or their subsidiaries. The reason they are generally disliked is because of the publishing level decisions, things like extortionate prices for gamers outside of North America, the anti-consumer digital rights management (that are often broken) as well as the exclusion of core features in certain games (anno 1404 had no multiplayer before the expansion was released, which is hugely disappointing to fans of the series).

So how can you judge Ubisoft if you've never played one of their biggest selling game series?
Because they care too much about the money! They should be like Capcom who only cares about making great games, and doesn't care if their game flops!

Well yeah. Because that would mean Capcom made it, and there's no such thing as a bad Capcom game. If it were Ubisoft putting Capcom's logo on it even though Capcom had nothing to do with it, I wouldn't need to do anything but wait for Ubisoft to be sued while I laugh at them.
I totally agree, there's never been a bad Capcom game in the history of games. I mean, look at this wonder:

And who can forget this masterpiece:

Finally what about this utter 10/10 literal godlike game from Capcom:

Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop was one of the first games I ever reviewed, I believe. I gave it an 8, and I've played through it exactly 12 times.

How dare you imply it wasn't awesome.
Why didn't you quote me?

Also, you ever played the other 2? They were utter shite, failed attempts at a generic shooter and a generic franchise reboot. Critics hated them, a lot. Same with Chop Till You Drop, it was an example of why the Wii shouldn't have Xbox games ported to it. It had barely any zombies, and even then they had serious pop up. It had the worst enemies ever in a game. And the graphics were utter shite.

The enemies added variety, the graphics were decent, and zombies were frickin' everywhere, and that only got worse as the game went on and the difficulty increased.

I'm a Nintendo gamer, so I can't tell you about the other 2 games. They're probably good though.
"I'm a Nintendo gamer", that explains so much. Ubisoft's Wii and DS outputs are terrible because well, it's the fucking Wii and DS. They can't exactly put Assasins Creed, or Far Cry 3, or Driver: San Francisco, or Ghost Recon, or Splinter Cell, or From Dust or even Prince of Persia on the Wii because the Wii is so underpowered those games would turn into butchered ports like Dead Rising!

Dead Rising on the Wii...
