The laser pistol and laser rifle from Fallout 3.

Y U NO DO ANY DAMAGE?
The laser weapons have hitscan projectiles. They hit a target immediately, whether it's right in front of you or just at the edge of your visibility range. Plasma weapons, by contrast, move as quickly as a drunk obese man trying to remember which hotel room he's staying in. Lasers are bloody useless in VATS, but they make a decent choice for mid to long range engagements if you have no other option. Gauss rifle sort of invalidated that, though, but at least laser weapons are easy to repair.

I spent fifteen minutes thinking up this response.
Aha, i must say i love your explanation! xD made me laugh. But your probably right, i never had any luck with the Laser Pistol or Rifle, even with VATS. The Plasma rifle is pretty crap in VATS, but i usually tend to use it whilst exploring, Its one shot kill on most roaming mutants :p

Fallout: New Vegas, why did they decide to include different types of ammo. I can't be the only one who went 'fuck it' and just used normal rounds.
You're not the only one. Hi.

It's for people who want to try that kind of complexity out, like Hardcore mode.

The worst for me is probably the .32 and Chinese pistols in Fallout 3. The pistol you start out with does more damage and even looks better aesthetically, so why would I ever use them?
To be fair, I can think of one for this: Authenticity.

This is a world that had to pick itself up from bare bones after the whole thing with the Chinese involved. Ergo, there will be shitty guns for shitty people, and Chinese weapons because of the war. Chinese Assault Rifles kick ass, though. Next to everyone in Paradise Falls is carrying 'em.

You mean you've never had the pleasure of going Deathclaw hunting with your own hand-loaded custom ammo.

Also there are 40mm incendiary grenades, they're always fun.

I mean I went AROUND the Deathclaw areas for half the game because I didn't have any REAL firepower against 'em for a while.

Mortal Kombats "Flip stance button". press L2 (I think) and you character will turn around so your either looking at his front or his back, has no effect on gameplay at all.

Now that I think about it, its to decide if you want to look at Kitanas Boobs or ass.

This makes me think of a different Why. If that's what the flip stance button is for, why don't they have eye-candy for girl gamers? Just curious.

Thats why you use alternate ammo. Or Psycho. Lots of Psycho.
Or my personal favorite, both!
Something at least the size of a hunting rifle and sneak attacks also help.

beat stage 1 like achievements.
achievements should be hard to achieve not doing easy stuff like getting the starter pistol.

try Hollow points/+P it,s more effective against soft stuff.
the default ammo has no penalties/advantages.
and AP/Armor Piercing is effective against robots/armored targets.
plinking ammo is useless but cheap.

The hand to hand skill in any Elder Scrolls game, even with training it still doesn't match up in damage to blades found only a few hours into the game. Also the drop kick from Devil May Cry 4 it's on the select button for god sakes how I'm I supposed to hit that while running, which isn't a big deal as you be using it simply because it's the worst attack in the game you can't combo from it at all.

Kind of felt this way about Zelda Skyward Sword's item upgrade system.

Okay... it's a rupee sink, I guess. We didn't need that in old games though, really. Only like half a dozen items could be upgraded and let's face it; they were some BORING ass upgrades!

Add sprint to the beetle. Okay, but that seems like it should've been there to begin with. Add duration to the beetle... WHY? For what conceivable reason would you need the beetle that long?

Then we have just plain damage upgrades for the bow,

durability(which is also pretty stupid) upgrades for the shields, which is then rendered useless by the Hylian shield.

ammo upgrades, a bigger bug net, a scatter shot for the slingshot which is 100% useless, *yaaawwwn*

I dunno. It just seemed like upgradeable items in Zelda had the potential to be really cool and engaging with a real twist added to each item a la ratchet and clank weapon upgrades, but this just felt like busy work, to the point of me asking "why did they even bother doing this?".

It's probably my biggest problem with the game, honestly.

Mass Effect 2 - Shockwave, Pull, Push on anything above Nomal difficulty.
This may be a bit late to the discussion, but I am currently playing through ME2 on Insanity (no, I'm not trying to toot my own horn, so anyone wanting to point that out: HUSH), and Pull + Warp is a fucking devastating attack combo to use, particularly early on when your weapons do bugger all in the way of damage.
Pull is good for getting that annoying sod who keeps popping up over there, out of his cover and disabled, if only for a short while. Can also be used on the rare occasion there's a significant drop between you and them.
Push, A.K.A Throw, is good for much the same thing, temporarily disabling enemies stripped of their protection. Obviously best used when the enemy is near a handy drop, or even better combined with Pull for funtimes! Also satisfying to watch someone/thing go slamming into a wall at high speed.
Shockwave I found, is largely useless outside of its novelty "look at those poor buggers fly!" value. Good for scattering large groups of enemies, but you're better off just using Warp, Pull, Throw, Singularity, Slam, etc on individual enemies. So yeah, agree with you on Shockwave there.

You win everything for a month for remembering that.

OT: Those little stick position matching sections during the cutscenes in Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy to the U.S.), not the regular ones, but the ones between the story events, you know, the ones involving the lead bad guy and his superiors. I found them intensely distracting, preventing me from focussing on what was being said.
Also the swimming skill in Deus Ex. A rebreather or aqualung aug worked just as well.

The scattershot and potion upgrades are worth the effort IMO. And since you need bugs for potion upgrades, the big bug net is probably worth it, too.

Klobb was an example of More Dakka. Dual wielding noise makers, pretty much.

Maybe they do, I don't know what the average girl gamer thinks of the MK cast, but characters like Jonny Cage, Stryker, Jax amd Lui Kang are all muscular and have handsome features.

Skyrim - Most non-combat, non-crafting Perks. All they do is give you more money in some way, and there's too much money already.

League of Legends - Tiamat

Mass Effect 2 - Shockwave, Pull, Push on anything above Nomal difficulty.

Total War games - Peasants
why peasants you say? well in chess, the pawns go first.

seriously, nothing hold enemy Calvary in place like the piled bodies of the swarming peasants. Lets my spearmen get close :) ... this was really early game BTW :p

And they ARE mostly shirtless too. You make with a valid point.
