Bioware. And the developer that is both the most hated and the most loved? Nintendo, definitely.

As much I don't like their games personally I think Valve takes the cake for sheer fan base.

Either Valve or Bioware, I have yet to find anyone who hates them.

Pretty much everyone hates Activision after how they fucked over Infinity Ward and MW2, and a lot of people hate Infinity Ward after how unbalanced and hackable MW2 was.

Also, a lot of people hate bethesda because they think they ruined fallout.
I'd say Valve or Bioware as well. Also, I'd be sad if people hated Shigesato Itoi, creator of the Mother series.

And Activision was twatty before they ruined precious Infinity Ward, what with the legal stuff with Tim Schafer (does anyone hate Double Fine?), Valve etc.

And whoever made Fallout 3 was going to be hated, because, "oh no, they ruined the precious formula of the previous games!"

"You haven't played it yet, and it isn't even out yet."

"Fallout is ruined forever!"

Well, I remember Fallout fanatics shooting holes through a Fallout 3 t-shirt rather a while back. Yeah, don't anger them.

Assuming we're talking about studios large enough to have a target on their backs, it's gotta be Valve. They're the only major dev I can think of that isn't nickel-and-diming their customers at every available opportunity.

Bioware is a strong contestant, but they're taken down a few pegs by the garbage micro-transactions of ME2 and DA:O.

Blizzard would have been tied with Valve before they hopped into bed with Activision. Anyone within a hundred (financial) miles of Bobby Kotick loses by default.

BioWare and Valve.

Also, although this is my own personal preference, I don't know anyone that hates Naughty Dog. I'm sure there are people here that may hate them for selling off Crash Bandicoot or something, but think about it. Have they made a bad game? As far as I know, their track record consists of Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, and Uncharted, all great franchises.

Lots of people hate Bioware, I have a ton of friends who can't stand their games. Yes those friends are tasteless morons, but the fact remains, Bioware do get some hate. But really how can you hate Mass Effect, its not even one thing about it, its 'all of it'

I would say Bungie maybe, their fans love them so much. The only people thta hate on them are ps3 fan boys and just people who hate halo in the first place. But they still have like 10 million fans or so, so they gotta be doing good.

Epic don't really get much hate do they? Epic are actually pretty good. I know everyone used to hate EA, but they don't really deserve a lot of that hate anymore. Thank Odin activision stepped in as the guys to hate.

actually, pretty much everyone but activision,EA and anyoneone who makes those god-awful casual game cash-ins, Though half the devs in the world would be joint 1st as least hated developer considering most people tend to hate the game the developer makes, not the developer themselves

As far as track records go, Retro Studios have never made a bad game, just could never really match the first Metroid Prime.
